Chapter 124: Greeting Chloe and Caro

　The secret audience with His Majesty the King is over. I leave the secret room with my father. The knights who were waiting for us at the door took us to one of the salons in the royal castle. It looks like we can take a break here.

　Inside the salon, there were a number of white tables. Some nobles were talking around the tables. It seemed that this salon also doubled as a waiting room.

　On the ceiling, there was a painting of a blue sky with white clouds and small birds flying in between.

　There was a amber-colored chest by the wall, on which were placed red and white vases that seemed to have been brought from the Orient. Paintings depicting majestic nature decorated the walls, like windows leading to another world.

　A servant in the salon brought us food and drink. But neither I nor my father touched them.

　Since we had just been talking about the poisoning incident, I’m not sure I’m in the mood for a bit of food.. It seems father feels the same way. That’s right.

“Julius, what are you going to do now?”

“What do you mean?　Aren’t we going back to the townhouse?”

　Hmm, my father crossed his arms. I don’t think there is anything else to do in the castle. And by the way, there is nothing more to do in the royal capital. To be honest, I can’t wait to get back to my territory.

“Don’t you need to see Lady Chloe?”

“Oh, ……”

　What should I do? Is it okay if I see her?　I don’t think it’s necessary for me to get close to Chloe, since brother Alex and miss Daniela seem to be getting close to each other. With Caro, there is still a possibility …… no. Even if I formed a relationship with Marquise Mulan, it wouldn’t be very beneficial for both parties. I think that was the reason why he didn’t get together with Miss Hilda.

　I can’t succeed the Margrave Heine family, and if that happens, it won’t make sense for Caro to marry me. Marquise Mulan already has a legitimate son who has grown up, so he has no need for a son-in-law. So, I have nothing.

　So, I headed to Chloe’s place with my father. It seems that she is in the middle of her training. So while I was waiting at a nearby salon, Chloe and her friends came over.

　In addition to Chloe and Caro, there were several other girls . They must be Chloe's closest aides.

“Good day, Julius-sama. It's nice to see you again."

“Good day to you, Miss Chloe. Me too. Thank you for all your attention to this issue.”

　I bowed deeply. The entourage, who didn't understand what was going on, tilted their heads, but Chloe seemed to get the message.

“Please don’t worry about it. There is no need to thank me.”

　Chloe’s eyes were moist. I guess she really wanted to bow her head and thank me right here and now. I was glad that I met Chloe in a public place. If it had been in her room, she might have cried.

“It’s great that Miss Carolina seems to be doing well, too.”

“Julius-sama also seems to be in good health.”

　Caro's face looked cloudy for a moment, but then she smiled at me again, as if the sun was shining. Apparently, she had developed some kind of distrust between me and Chloe. Sharp. Women are scary.

　The other ladies around us were looking at me with suspicious eyes. It seems that they’ve never heard anything about me.

　I guess I should be thankful.　I'm glad I didn't cause a strange commotion.

　Since I had intended to just say hello, we parted right then and there. It seems she has her next training session. It's not easy being a princess.

　I was able to say hello to Caro altogether, and I think it was just fine.

“Father, now that the greetings are over, let's go home.”

“Yes, let's do that. I'll do that. I'll tell Alex to watch what he eats when we get home.”

　We headed to the main gate and boarded the Margrave Heine family  carriage that was waiting for us there.

　We made it back to the townhouse safely. I couldn't help but sigh loudly when I got back to my room. There was nothing more to do in the royal capital now. I never thought I would get a medal. With this, I would be able to make magic potions without anyone being suspicious of me.

　I took the medal out of my pocket and looked at it. I wondered if grandma had one too.

　I will put it away for the time being. If it becomes known that I have this medal, it will be revealed that I am grandmother's successor. I can't predict what will happen as a result. If I'm not careful, I might end up hurting my family.

　Even though I had gone to a lot of trouble to get it, it would not be effective until after I graduated from the academy and became an adult on my own. So, there was not much benefit in getting it.

　It was getting close to dinner time, and the servants called me to the dining room. There I found my father already there.

“Come to think of it, I haven't told you about this. just for having The Order of the Honorary Potions Master that you received, you can receive ten gold coins every year.”

“I did not know. I feel kind of bad that I'm getting paid for something I didn't contribute anything to."

“What are you saying? Normally you would have received a thousand gold coins, you know?　But if that much money is moved, people will notice something is wrong. It’s a bitter pill to swallow.”

　A thousand gold coins...... that much money would allow me to live without working for the rest of my life. Is that why they made it ten gold coins every year, because they want me to use that money to make magic potions?　Well, that's what I intend to do, so that's good.

　Ten gold coins, huh? With that much money, I should be able to collect a fair amount of rare materials. I could even make many times more money by selling the rare magic potion I’d  made. I have no intention of doing that at the moment, though.

　I don't want to sell the rare magic potion and have someone somewhere take notice. I intend to continue to make magic potions that everyone can use.

　Just to be safe, though, I will also make some rare magic potions. First, I will make some additional Panaceas. It's already known that I can make panaceas, So it won't be a problem to make additional ones.

　I don't want to make a full recovery potion or anything like that ...... yet. If I make this, people might say I'm really a god…
