Chapter 125 – Returning to the Capital

　Brother Alex joins us for dinner. Now all the family members in the townhouse are together. Brother Cain is at the school dormitory , so he will probably be having dinner with his friends in the dining hall by now.

　I'm not sure why even though his father is so close by, he doesn't come to say hello, but I guess that's how much fun he is having at the school. Besides, since big brother Alex is back at the townhouse, maybe he thinks that's enough.

“Alex, is Cain doing well?”

“So far, I haven’t heard of any problems. Oh, yes. It seems that he’s joined the swordsmanship Club and seems to be getting a lot of attention even though he’s a freshman. I have heard rumors that he is the strongest in his grade. He said, ‘No, that’s not true' though. He seems to have a lot of friends, and I often see him enjoying himself.”

“I see. How about his… studies?”

　It seems that father is worried about that. Brother Cain was exuding an aura of brawn and no brains, you know. He must be worried. I am a little worried too.

　Brother Alex looks away a little.

“So far, he hasn't flunked any tests, but it looks like he's just barely ....... He seems to have a friend who is helping him study, though, so I think he'll be fine."

“Is that friend a woman?”

“Huh?　Yes, she is, but I’m surprised you could tell.”

　Hmph, sighs father. His eyes are closed, but he looks somewhat satisfied. Could it be, Brother Cain, that you have a weakness for women?

“That’s fine. Tell Cain to introduce me one of these days.”

“You’re not going to tell him directly, father?”

“Oh, I’ll be returning to the territory soon.. We won’t have a chance to meet.”

“is that so……”

　Brother Alex said nothing more. But when he saw  father who started to say that he would soon return to the territory, he seemed to have guessed that something was wrong. He glanced at me, concerned.

　No, it’s not because I did something wrong, okay?　I’m kind of afraid that he’s making me the culprit.

　Perhaps father is concerned about the border that borders the neighboring Kingdom of Lund Al. He must be hurrying to strengthen border security, gather information, and strengthen cooperation with neighboring territories.

　During winter,  the area is closed off by snow, it is unlikely that they will put up a fight. However, it is early summer now. We cannot let our guard down. If the plan is to attack the Kingdom of Spencer if something happens to the king, then they must be preparing for battle.

“What about Julius?　You don't have to go home with him."

“I’m going home with him. There is nothing to do here.”

“Julius is honest. I can arrange a tour of the school, if you'd like."

“There is no need. I’m going to the academy in the capital.”

　When I said that clearly, Father and Brother Alex's eyes widened. What is that “I didn’t expect that” look? I never once said I wanted to go to the royal academy. If anything, I don’t want to go.

“Oh, really?　I thought for sure that Julius would also be enrolling in the royal academy. Because the royal capital is more suitable for gathering things. Plus, you’ll have access to new magical tools and cutting-edge information, right?”

“I see, Julius is planning to enter the academy in the capital. ……”

　 Father ponders. Was it perhaps surprising?　I think brother Alex has a point, but none of this is very appealing.

　If it's the materials I need, I'll probably be able to get much better quality materials from an adventurer rather than buying them from a store, and with my knowledge cheat, I don't really need cutting-edge information.

　Maybe the information I have in my head is much more cutting edge. I have a lot of unused knowledge, like vehicles, airships, and so on. So, there is almost no advantage to attending a school in the royal capital. 

　If there is a disadvantage, it would be that I would be less connected to the high-ranking nobles. But that is not so important for me.

“Yes. I'm going to enter the school in the capital. It is natural for those who want to become a potion master to go to the school founded by grandmother. The classes in Potions are top class, you know.”

"Indeed it is, but ...... well, I understand."

　Father nodded deeply. What's wrong?　He seems to have a kind of stern look on his face. Could it be that he is being told by His Majesty the King "put Julius in the royal academy" or something?

　Dinner ended with the question in my mind. It seemed that father was making arrangements to leave for the capital tomorrow, so I returned to my room and got ready to go home. However, there was little to do. All I had to do was pack my bag with clothes, books, and the medal I had received.

　Come to think of it, I didn't do any shopping in here. Well, that's okay. I don't really want anything. While I was preparing in this way, a servant came to tell me that we would be leaving tomorrow morning.

　The next morning, we left the townhouse as soon as we ate breakfast. It was earlier than Brother Alex's departure to the school time.

“Please be careful on the way.”

“Take care of yourself too Alex. Tell Cain to take care of himself.”

“Thank you for your hospitality, Brother Alex.”

　After a short greeting to each other, the carriage soon departed. The horse-drawn carriage of the Margrave Heine family advances through the still-less popular capital of the kingdom. 

　The horses used by our Family  are very good. Since they started holding horse races, their quality has improved even further. Therefore, if we leave first thing in the morning, we can reach two towns ahead of us.

That’s why the carriage we rode on was able to return to the capital earlier than usual.

　Mother greeted our short return with surprise, but she was delighted when I told her that I had been awarded the honorary Order of the Potions Master.

　Father told a few of his trusted men and Mother about what had happened in the royal capital. And, of course, about me making a panacea.

　The information that the neighboring kingdom of Lund Al might be coming to fight seemed to have given him a considerable sense of urgency. It seems that he decided that he could no longer keep my affairs a secret as he had done in the past.

　Mother turned very pale when she heard this, but she did not lose her composure . It seems that my mother is more solid than I thought.

　As expected, I decided not to tell Rosalia about this. It would be too early for her. And then they went straight into a strategy meeting,......, and for some reason I ended up joining them.

　Um, I'm just a kid myself.
