Chapter 245: Creative Inspiration
The beautiful sword was gripped in Lutz’s hand. It was a freshly made sword, sharpened and wiped clean of moisture.
With satisfaction evident in its craftsmanship, Lutz wore a contented smile. If this doesn’t satisfy them, then he’ll have to resort to smashing the head of the Royal Guard Commander.
“You seem delighted.”
Claudia said from behind a little ways away. Even without turning around, it was clear from her tone that she was smiling.
“Yeah, no one can say the soul isn’t in this piece anymore.”
“Oh? Is there someone out there who would dare say such a thing to the greatest swordsmith on the continent?”
“I would.”
“Ah, I see.”

Claudia shrugged. First and foremost, one must convince oneself; that’s what it means to be a craftsman.
After tightly wrapping the sword in cloth and putting it away in the chest, Lutz began cleaning up the forge.
“When this is done, I’m going to sleep. Then, tomorrow morning, I’ll start forging the next sword.”
“Aren’t you going to show the finished sword to Gerhardt-san or Patrick-san?”
“They’ll sense that the sword is finished with their mysterious intuition without us having to go.”
“Treating people like some sort of evil spirits…”
“We’re definitely treading into that territory.”
“Is that a compliment?”
“The highest praise.”
Claudia found it hard to understand the trust between craftsmen.
“But forging swords every day seems like a bit of a tough schedule, doesn’t it? How about taking it easy tomorrow?”

Lutz is a man who would collapse if left alone in the forge. It was a natural suggestion as a partner and a wife. The memory of Lutz collapsing on the stairs due to exhaustion was still fresh.
“I know it’s more efficient to rest, but I don’t want to extinguish the creative enthusiasm that’s sprung up. Honestly, I feel like sleeping right now is a waste of time, but I’ll have to reluctantly rest because I’ll probably collapse midway through.”
“Does creative enthusiasm disappear if left alone?”
“It can’t be turned on or off. For example, even if you think about doing this and that when you get home, sometimes you end up lying on the bed doing nothing when you actually get there.”
“Yeah, I’ve had that experience.”
“It’s similar to that. There’s no one in this world I trust as much as I do myself.”
Lutz spoke earnestly.
“The words ‘I’ll do it later’ that leak from one’s lips… how empty they are. Do you understand?”
“Well, I usually stick to my plans.”
“Is that so? Impressive…”

Whether she was being teased or not, Claudia wasn’t sure, but from Lutz’s demeanor, it seemed like he was serious. There are things that a diligent woman and a lazy man can’t quite understand about each other.
“Anyway, Lutz-kun, go and rest already. Dark circles are forming under your eyes, and your brow is creased, making you look terrible.”
“…I knew I didn’t have a normal face, but to that extent?”
“If you went to the market with that face, you’d definitely be treated as a robber.”
“Yeah, I wouldn’t want that… um, I wouldn’t want that, yeah.”
It seemed like his mind wasn’t functioning properly. Lutz muttered “I wouldn’t want that” repeatedly and headed towards the bedroom. Or so he intended.
Claudia, feeling somewhat uneasy, climbed the stairs, only to find Lutz asleep on the spot once again.
“Hey, Lutz-kun, wake up. What’s so captivating about this dark, narrow staircase that it draws you in like this?”
She gently tapped his head enough not to be foolish, then lifted him up and carried him to bed.
With a sigh of relief, Claudia breathed out, but soon she felt a bad premonition once again.
…Is he going to repeat this at least two more times?
No matter how much of a blacksmith buff Lutz is, he wouldn’t exert himself to the point of collapsing every single time. She shook her head, thinking so, but a faint unease lingered in her mind. And usually, those bad premonitions tend to come true.
The next day, an uninvited guest actually showed up.
“Hehe, I came.”
Behind the door opened by Claudia stood Patrick, a middle-aged man in his forties with a smile on his face, looking not particularly attractive.
Lutz had been fast asleep after finishing the sword. Claudia hadn’t gone out either. In other words, no one had informed Patrick that the sword was finished, but here he was.
“How did you know the sword was finished?”
Claudia asked suspiciously, and Patrick answered naturally.
“From the way Lutz-san’s mood was so high during the previous discussion, I figured he’d take some action soon. So, I thought it would be shaping up in some form by now and decided to visit. It’s really fortunate that it’s already completed.”
Claudia couldn’t help feeling a bit uneasy about how he could figure it out so easily. It had gone beyond being impressed to feeling a bit creepy.
“Hello, Patrick-san, come in.”
Lutz called out to Patrick over Claudia’s shoulder. Patrick seemed completely oblivious to any doubts about why he had come.
Is it just craftsmen who are like that? Claudia abandoned her thoughts and led Patrick to the second-floor living room without asking for any explanation.
Without asking for the purpose, Lutz handed the sword wrapped in cloth to Patrick. With trembling hands, Patrick peeled back the cloth and exclaimed, “Wow…”
“This is amazing. If you were to wear something like this on your waist, wouldn’t you get arrested for indecency?”
“Anyone who feels sexual excitement from a sword probably doesn’t exist in the capital, so it’s fine.”
Lutz replied in a very ordinary manner. It seemed that Patrick’s eccentric behavior was starting to become somewhat familiar, whether understood or not.
“A sword is a tool for cutting people, right? Stabbing a hard stick into someone’s flesh, isn’t that already sex!?”
“Well, if someone gets excited by killing people, they should probably be arrested.”
“You’re so dirty… really dirty. Look, the smoothness of this blade pattern here is clearly genitalia. Breasts, buttocks, blade pattern! That’s how it feels.”

“I’m satisfied with just breasts and buttocks.”
Lutz himself was starting to lose track of what he was saying. Dragged into Patrick’s world, he felt like his mind might really go crazy someday.
There was a loud banging on the door from downstairs. Was it a savior or a new harbinger of chaos? Claudia had a vague idea of who it might be.
When Claudia opened the door, there he was.
“Hey, I’ve come.”
As expected, the one who showed up was the enchantment mage Gerhardt.
