Chapter 11: The Inspector’s Plight
The Weimar Royal Capital.
As the largest city in the Weimar Kingdom and home to the royal family, checkpoints are set up at the capital’s entrances and exits for security, unlike in nearby towns or villages.
That day, the inspectors at the Weimar capital checkpoint were carrying out their usual duties.
Their task was to inspect people and goods entering and leaving the capital, preventing dangerous individuals or items from getting in and protecting any classified entities from getting out.
It was another routine day.
But that routine was interrupted shortly after they began work.
“……aahhhhh…”
“Huh?”
The inspector, hearing a strange noise, looked up from the items he was examining.
“Did you say something?”
“No, I didn’t say anything… but I heard it too.”
When he asked the person in front of him, they also admitted to hearing a voice, though it wasn’t their own.
Both looked around, and they noticed others doing the same.
It became clear that they weren’t the only ones who heard the mysterious voice.
Could someone be hiding in the goods, trying to sneak into the capital or escape out of it?
Realizing this possibility, the inspectors prepared to search the luggage when, suddenly…
“Aaaaahhhhhhhh!!!”
A man descended from above, screaming loudly.
“W-what?!”

The scene was so surreal that not only the inspectors but also the citizens in line stared in shock.
The man was plummeting straight down.
At this rate, he’d hit the ground hard.
But what could they do? All they could manage was to keep the civilians clear.
Just as the inspector was about to lead the crowd to safety, the man’s descent began to slow.
“…Huh? What?”
Another strange event. The people below were left gaping in amazement.
As the man approached, it became clear he wasn’t alone. Another man was with him, this one bound hand and foot.
What kind of situation was this?
Perplexed, no one dared move. The man carrying the bound one stepped forward, holding out a wanted poster to the inspector.

“Hey, I’d like to get in touch with whoever wrote this. Can you guide me?”
“H-hey! You can’t just ask like that!”
“Shut up, stay quiet.”
It was clearly a conversation between a superior and his underling, but the superior was downright rude.
Not to mention, instead of waiting in the long queue to reach the checkpoint, they’d bypassed it by coming from the sky.
Not liking his attitude, the inspector decided to be firm.
“This is a royal-issued wanted poster. We can’t just let you through. Frankly, I’ve never seen a more suspicious character than you. Seize him at once!”
With that order, the soldiers standing guard moved in.
The man glanced at them and sighed, then suddenly released an intense burst of magic power.
It was a dense, terrifying energy unlike anything seen even in demonic beings.
No one around could move a muscle.
“Uh, uh…”
“Enough of that. Go and find whoever issued this wanted poster. If they thought it was worth putting this out…”
When the man said this, his previously casual demeanor vanished as he glared intensely at the royal castle.
“So, you’re ready to go to war with me, right?”
The moment he spoke those words, everyone around him, including the inspector, felt their legs give out.
This guy was dangerous.
There was no way someone like him should be allowed into the capital.
They had to stop him here.
The inspector thought that, but fear had paralyzed his body, making it impossible to move. It was the same for everyone else around him, some of whom had even lost control of their bladders.
Seeing this, the man let out a small sigh and withdrew his intense magic aura.
“There, now you can move. Hurry up and go ask whoever wrote this wanted poster for me.”
“…”
No one moved, even after hearing his words.
Then…
“Hurry up!!”
The man shouted angrily, and one of the soldiers hastily mounted a horse and raced toward the royal castle.
After confirming this, the man addressed the people who had fallen to the ground in fear.
“Hey, you all should probably get out of the capital while you still can. Because…”
He gave a wicked grin.

“From here on, the capital is going to be annihilated.”
The crowd, remembering the overwhelming magic power he’d unleashed moments ago, scrambled to crawl away from the capital despite their trembling legs.
The inspectors wanted to flee as well, but with a sense of duty to protect the capital gate, they barely managed to stand their ground.
“Heh, guess you’ve got some guts after all.”
The man said this, sounding amused, though the inspectors found nothing amusing about the situation.
Waiting with him for the reply from the castle, the silence between them was incredibly uncomfortable.
As time dragged on, the inspector grew curious.
Why would this man go so far as to declare war on the kingdom?
“Hey… mind if I ask you something?”
“Huh? What is it?”
The curt reply nearly made the inspector lose his nerve, but he pushed himself to ask.
“Why are you talking about going to war with the kingdom? What does that wanted poster even say?”
Hearing the question, the man glanced at the wanted poster and handed it over to the inspector.
Reading its contents, the inspector’s eyes widened.
“…Wait, did the royal family really issue this?”
Ad
“Yeah. It’s a joke, right? I even spoke directly with two of the princesses. And this is how they treat me? This is nothing short of the royal family picking a fight. And when royalty picks a fight… well, that’s war, isn’t it?”
The inspector couldn’t refute the man’s words.
If this man was wanted, then he was technically a criminal.
Capturing or even killing him would be legally justified.
But this poster also mentioned capturing his lover as a hostage, a shocking move for the royal family.
The inspector could hardly believe that such an order could come from the kingdom.
“Maybe… this is all a mistake…”
“Aren’t they checking that now? Ah, and look at that—seems like they’re back.”
“Huh?”
Following the man’s gaze, the inspector looked ahead and, at first, saw nothing. But gradually, he noticed a royal carriage speeding toward them.
“What…?! Why…”
Victoria, the first princess of the Kingdom of Weimar, stepped out of the speeding carriage, visibly struggling to steady herself as she emerged, her breath ragged.
Normally, a princess would never exit a carriage without the assistance of her attendants, but this was no ordinary situation. With uncharacteristic urgency and lacking the elegance befitting a lady, she practically burst from the carriage.
The border guards were momentarily stunned by the sight. But quickly, they snapped to attention and bowed respectfully to her.
The man standing beside them, however, showed no inclination to do the same.
Instead…
“Hey there, Princess. I’ve come to settle the fight your kingdom picked with me.”
He waved the wanted poster casually, speaking to Princess Victoria with a disrespectful tone.
The guards were speechless, shocked by such irreverent behavior toward a royal. But what Princess Victoria did next left them even more bewildered.
Because…
“No, it’s not what you think! Please, listen to me!”
She clung to him, almost like a woman pleading to a lover caught in a scandal.
The guards could only stand and listen, feeling their entire sense of reality crumble as they observed this strange exchange between the man and their princess.
