Just another Isekai Lover~

Chapter 84: A Troublesome Girl

The boy before her claimed to be an adventurer, but the girl didn’t believe him.

She was utterly convinced that she was the world’s youngest adventurer and that everyone around her held high expectations for her future.

“You’re still a child! There’s no way anyone younger than me could be an adventurer!”

“You can say that, but I really am one…”

Tauro played innocent.

It was easy to forget, but he knew that his own case was exceptional.

“How old are you? I’m fourteen, and everyone expects great things from me as the youngest adventurer with the [Priest], [Mage], and [Barrier Master] skills.”

She ignored his little joke entirely and displayed her competitive streak without restraint.

“I’m eleven.”

“What!? How did you become an adventurer at that age?”

Tauro chose not to mention that he had actually become one at eight.

“Then what rank are you? I bet you only just registered!”

“F+.”

“That’s higher than my F rank!”

He also chose not to mention that he had reached E rank before his license was revoked. That would only complicate matters.

“Th-then you must have some incredible skill. Otherwise, there’s no way I could be losing to you!”

“I only have one garbled-text skill.”

“A garbled-text skill is worthless! Am I supposed to be happy or disappointed?”

“Tauro, what has this girl been trying to accomplish all this time?”

Shin and Rumeya had watched from the side without understanding the exchange, so Shin finally asked.

“Let’s see… She’s a fiercely competitive girl who thought she was the youngest adventurer and wants to know where the Adventurers’ Guild is?”

Tauro gave a rough summary.

“So that’s why she’s picking a fight with you. What bad luck. Anyway, let’s take her to the guild.”

They escorted the muttering girl to the guild.

As soon as they arrived, Tauro spoke.

“Here we are. You’re free to do as you please now.”

He started to enter ahead of her.

“Wait. Your name is Tauro, right?”

“Yes. Well then—”

“I’m Aeris. Remember that name! I’m the adventurer who will soon surpass you and become famous!”

Aeris issued her declaration, but Tauro feared that engaging with her any further would raise some sort of flag. He ignored her and hurried into the guild.

“Listen when someone is talking to you!”

Angry at being ignored, Aeris chased after him.

She looked ready to grab Tauro when she followed him into the building, but awareness of all the eyes in the guild lobby made her settle down.

Her challenge outside had carried clearly into the guild.

“Ah, youth!”

“Tauro, if a girl picks a fight with you, at least respond. Otherwise she just looks painfully embarrassing!”

The adventurers heckled them.

One called out to Aeris.

“Aren’t you Aeris from the Dareder branch? What brings you here?”

Some of the adventurers knew her, so she appeared to have a reputation of her own.

Looking displeased, Aeris went to the reception desk to complete the formalities that had brought her there.

Tauro joined Shin and Rumeya to select a quest.

“There’s a kobold extermination request, Tauro.”

Rumeya had found a request from a nearby farm.

“Then let’s accept the kobold extermination and gather medicinal herbs as well.”

The other two agreed with Tauro’s proposal.

When they took the request to the counter, Branch Manager Chloe was working as a receptionist.

She and the other receptionist were handling the busy morning shift together.

“Oh, Tauro. We have a newcomer. Would you teach her the proper way to gather medicinal herbs?”

Chloe pointed toward Aeris.

I’ve triggered the flag already! Tauro protested internally. Since it was Chloe’s request, however, he could hardly refuse.

“Um… I’m Tauro, and I’ll be teaching you how to gather medicinal herbs. Nice to meet you…”

His voice faded with disappointment.

“Hey! What’s with that lack of enthusiasm? I didn’t expect my instructor to be you either!”

Aeris was indignant, but the presence of Shin and Rumeya kept her from causing more of a scene.

“The three of us have a kobold extermination afterward, so we’ll finish the herb gathering early.”

“Kobold extermination? Then I’ll come with you. You should be grateful.”

Aeris announced this as though it were only natural.

“No one asked you to.”

Tauro answered clearly, but Aeris ignored him.
