Chapter 120: The Port City
　Once Tauro and his companions crossed the mountain pass, the remainder of the journey proceeded smoothly.
　They continued camping along the way, but ate and slept comfortably. Tauro also used [Purification] on everyone to maintain their hygiene, so they encountered few difficulties.
　The only real concern was the toilet. Aeris solved that problem by raising earthen walls and constructing a simple latrine, allowing the two women to use it in privacy.
　Compared with their expectations, the journey was remarkably comfortable. Eventually, they reached a village only one day’s travel from O’Circus.
　It was the first inn they had visited in several days. The following morning, however, the women emerged with grim expressions.
　Their room had been filthy, forcing Aeris to clean it with [Clean]. When they tried to sleep, the wall separating them from the neighboring room proved so thin that the occupants’ snoring kept them awake.
　The men had faced similar conditions. Tauro, Shin, and Rumeya had already experienced the Dwarf Inn in Dansas before its renovation, however, so they weren’t particularly bothered.
　In the end, everyone agreed that sleeping at Tauro’s campsite had been more comfortable.
　They departed after that unpleasant morning and continued toward O’Circus.
　Late in the afternoon, the carriage finally left the uneven, hard-packed road and entered streets paved with stone.
　The carriage stopped shaking so violently.
　Only then did Leada fully relax. She soon began dozing beside Aeris.
　As the sun descended and the sky turned orange, the carriage crested a hill. O’Circus, their destination, spread out below them.
　The setting sun had already disappeared behind a smaller hill, leaving the port city in shadow. Countless lights glittered across the kingdom’s largest harbor, creating a dreamlike scene against the sea.
“Wow… So that’s O’Circus…”
“Dareder looks tiny by comparison… And the sea is enormous…”
　Rumeya and Shin leaned out beside the coachman, astonished by the immense city.
　Tauro was equally surprised by the scale of the port when he saw it for the first time.
　The view from the hill was breathtaking.
　It almost seemed as though the port city had been designed specifically to impress travelers approaching from this direction.
　Most first-time visitors were probably overwhelmed by the sight.
　The horizon had already darkened, while traces of blue remained higher in the sky as dusk continued to spread.
“Even the royal capital can’t offer a view like this.”
　Tauro sighed in admiration as he gazed at the scenery.
　By the time they reached the great gate leading into O’Circus, night had fallen.
　The gate was brightly illuminated, and a short line of people and carriages waited to enter before it grew any later.
　As Tauro’s group joined the line, one of the gate soldiers noticed Shin and Rumeya peering out beside the coachman.
“Welcome! Enjoy yourselves in O’Circus!”
　The soldier greeted them in a distinctive local accent.
　After passing through the gate, they found themselves in a city completely unlike the royal capital.
　The streets were narrower than those of the capital and felt even more crowded because of the sheer number of people.
　Buildings stood close together, and countless signs projected over the streets. Some of the larger signs were illuminated with magic stones.
　Seeing them, Tauro realized that much of the light visible from the hill must have come from similar magic-stone fixtures.
“We’re going to the inn arranged by the company we’re visiting, correct?”
　The coachman checked with Leada. She had only just awakened and remained dazed, so Tauro answered for her.
“Yes, please.”
　The coachman nodded, lightly flicked the reins, and guided the horses toward the inn.
　The arranged inn stood just off the main road.
　In terms of size and quality, it appeared to be slightly below the middle range.
　Even so, it was a substantial inn for a small merchant company to provide.
　Its greatest advantage was its proximity to the offices of the company with which they would be negotiating.
　Their business partner had probably selected it for convenience.
　After confirming that Leada had completed the check-in procedures, Tauro and the others headed to the O’Circus branch of the Adventurers’ Guild to report the successful completion of the outward escort.
　They also needed to secure lodging for themselves.
　The room arranged at Leada’s inn was for her alone and didn’t include Tauro or the escort team.
　They intended to ask the guild for recommendations after submitting their report.
　The O’Circus Adventurers’ Guild branch was far larger than the branch in Dansas.
　Its exterior was also covered in gaudy decorations made from processed magic stones.
“How tasteless.”
　Aeris gave her blunt assessment without hesitation.
　Tauro didn’t disagree with her.
