Chapter 285: A Young Lady on the Move in the Royal Capital

While Tauro was struggling in the village of the Dragon People

The “Black Golden Wings”, of which Aeris works hard as the leader, were in the royal capital.

The members were Aeris, Ragune, Ankh, and three warriors of the dragon people who had temporarily joined the group to come to the Royal Capital to gather information for the assassination guild: Malak, a tall, beautiful man with red hair and golden eyes; Zumei, a small, apparently beautiful boyish man with blond hair, golden eyes and a small stature; and Reeva, a slender, golden-eyed beauty with long blue hair in a ponytail. Six in total.

The location was the residence of Aeris's family, the Marquis Van Dyne family, in the royal capital.

In the reception room was Aeris’s father, the Marquis Van Dyne.

The Marquis Van Dyne is a well-known neutralist and influential figure in the country.

Before his disappearance, he had been in charge of the dungeon capture department under the royal government, and he has a wide network of contacts.

He was surprised when he received a report that his daughter Aeris was suddenly coming home, but he did not expect her to interfere in the factional strife in the aristocratic society.

"──Yes, indeed, I used Aeris’s information as a clue and had people from all sides investigate, but I found that the nobles of the Prime Minister’s faction had died suspicious deaths one after another. At first glance, these deaths appeared to be accidents or illnesses. …… After doing some research, I realized that the Prime Minister’s faction has been in a flurry of activity in recent days.”

The Marquis Van Dyne was skeptical at first of the information provided by Aeris, but after doing some research, he realized that it was not a spurious piece of information.

“That’s why Papa, you have to help us. If you don’t help us, Tauro will be followed by the assassination guild for a long time. If we can track down Viscount Saissi, who we think is Their employer, and get to the bottom of what’s going on, then the Assassins Guild will no longer have a reason to target Tauro, since they will have lost their employer.”

Aeris was trying to influence her father for Tauro’s sake, and was planning to bring about the downfall of Viscount Saissi.

“Wait, Aeris. I am a neutralist. If a nobleman of the Prime Minister’s faction has been assassinated, it should be the Prime Minister’s faction that retaliates. And even though I owe him a favor, it makes no sense for me to make a move for Tauro-kun, a commoner adventurer. And it would be a bad idea for me to get involved in a war between noble factions for such a reason.”

“But it is true that the assassins guild is after Tauro. You said you wanted to repay him with something other than money!”

“Of course I want to thank him.  If I am not careful, the conflict could escalate into a war that could split the nation in two. I cannot place Tauro-kun at the center of that responsibility, and I can’t bear that responsibility either.”

The Marquis Van Dyne spoke as if admonishing his daughter Aeris.

“That’s why I want Viscount Saissi to take responsibility. I want to create a situation in which Marquis Halagoura is not at fault."

Aeris said meaningfully.

“…… what does that mean?”

Her father, the Marquis Van Dyne, sensing that his daughter had an idea, asked back.

“I’m sorry, but the evidence of the assassination of the nobles of Viscount Saissi’s faction who belonged to the prime minister’s faction is gray, because the cipher of the secret documents of the assassination guild has not yet been solved. only Tauro’s  name was not written in the cipher, so there is evidence that Viscount Saissi is trying to assassinate him. As my dad says, Tauro is a commoner, even though he is an adventurer who has been given the royal crest. That may be why he can’t move to pursue the case. But what if this Tauro is adopted by a neutralist nobleman, or is planning to be adopted? A child like that, How could my dad, who’s also a neutralist, overlook that?”

Aeris presented her father with a thought that seemed to have been well thought out.

Her father, the Marquis Van Dyne, was astonished by Aeris’s idea.

After returning from his disappearance, Aeris, who he had thought had grown up on the outside but was still the same daughter of his on the inside, had also gone off on a journey as an adventurer and suddenly returned, she had grown a lot in just a few months.

I don’t know if turning 16 and coming of age this year was a catalyst for her growth, but perhaps Tauro-kun’s presence was the biggest factor.

She had been dependent on Tauro-kun and worried about his growth, but perhaps it was the fact that she felt she had to help Tauro-kun in his time of crisis that prompted her growth.

I’m happy for her growth, but on the other hand, I’m going to miss her somehow. ……

The Marquis Van Dyne, feeling that he had seen a part of his daughter’s growth, narrowed his eyes and a melancholy smile appeared on his face.

"Is that Tauro's idea?"

Just to be sure, the father, the Marquis Van Dyne,  confirmed that it was his daughter’s idea.

“No.. Tauro has chosen to leave us in the dark about this matter and to take refuge in a safe place until things cool down. Tauro is a person who tries to solve things on his own without relying on others, so I am sure he is thinking of some future countermeasures there, but I think those measures will probably only be taken after things have cooled down and he is able to move. …… So I thought I’d see what I could do ‘ now’, ‘right now’.”

Aeris looked back into the eyes of her father, the Marquis Van Dyne, with straight, bright eyes.

she is really a grown up …….

Her father, the Marquis Van dyne, was satisfied with his daughter’s answer.

“I …… understand. I’ll work out a plan around that idea. Please contact Mr. Tauro as well. We can't discuss the adoption without his approval."

He replied, and began to move.
