Chapter 3: The Villainous Aristocrat Makes a Bike Without Brakes.

"Phew, it feels so nice, Onii-sama!"

"Wow, Kunou-kun, this is amazing. I'm sure it will sell like hotcakes if you put it in the right place."

"It's difficult to mass-produce, so it's not possible."

Early in the morning.

Felsy was using the dryer to dry Wendy's wet hair.

Of course, it wasn't a flamethrower. It was a regular dryer with adjusted output.

The first magical device to enrich my life had been successfully completed.

However, due to the intricate adjustments required for making one, mass-producing and selling them in large quantities proved to be challenging. If I could manage mass production, it would enrich the territory, so I'd like to try it someday.

"I'll dry Felsy-neesama's hair too!!"

"Thank you, Wendy."

The favorite sister characters from the game were drying each other's hair right in front of me.

It was a feast for my eyes. My eyesight might rival that of the Maasai tribe soon.

"And, it's time to help out in the fields."

"Take care, onii-sama!!"

"Be careful, Kunou-kun."

"I will. Both of you, good luck with your studies."

I dashed out of the mansion and headed towards the fields.

Despite being called a baron's estate, it was nothing more than a rural territory surrounded by fields.

There were just over three hundred residents, and almost all of the land was used for farming.

Therefore, both my father, who was the lord, and I, his son, were often put to work in the fields.

Meanwhile, my mother would organize documents, and she would be busy teaching Felsy and Wendy the manners befitting nobility.

Later, my father would review those documents and put his signature on them.

Perhaps due to these circumstances, our relationship with the common folk was much closer than that of other nobles with peasants.

This might have been influenced by the fact that my father used to be a commoner, a former mercenary.

When I arrived at the fields, the farmers working there would smile and greet me warmly.

"Hey, today, will the young master be helping out too?"

"Butler-san, please stop calling me 'young master.' I'm already ten years old."

"Hahaha. Well, to us, you're still very much the young master."

The jovial and robust man laughing heartily is Butler.

He serves as a representative of the people, a comrade of my father from the mercenary days.

"By the way, young master, there's something I want to ask."

"What is it?"

"It's about Aslan. He seems really down lately. Did something happen?"

At the spot Butler-san pointed, there was my father, swinging a hoe as if his soul had left his body.

I couldn't help but recall the recent incident.

"I accidentally set the warehouse on fire!!"

"No, you shouldn't say that with such a beaming smile, right!?"

"It was just filled with things we don't use anyway, so it's fine."

Even though Mother insisted he throw them away, Father adamantly clung to items, claiming they were "memorable armor!!" As a result, nothing was being used; it was just a hoard of items.

Father must have a nature of not being able to discard things. I understand because I had a friend in my past life who was the same way.

"Hmm, but it's quite unexpected for the shock to linger this long."

"Isn't there something we can do? He's not responsive even when spoken to; he's just lost in his thoughts and the farm work isn't progressing at all."

"Even so, I'm not sure what to do..."

The idea of giving him a weapon enchanted with magic crossed my mind, but I dismissed it promptly.

Enchanted magic could be a dangerous thing depending on how it's used.

Even if an amateur in combat equips themselves with magically enhanced weaponry, the extent of the threat becomes immeasurable.

Well, one would need a considerable amount of magical power to enchant a large number of weapons like that.

Even if I were to give my father a weapon enchanted with magic, if it somehow fell into the hands of a third party, it would be a disaster.

That's why giving him a weapon with an enchantment is absolutely out of the question.

"Hmm. Oh, right."

My dad—well, my father from my past life.

Whenever he got frustrated with work, he used to ride his large motorcycle and speed down the highway.

He had a different personality from Aslan, but there's something universal about men and their fascination with motorcycles.

Alright, let's make a motorcycle.

Once the decision is made, I need to gather the materials necessary for building a bike...

"Ah, Butler-san!! Could I have that?"

"Hm? Oh, the broken cart? I don't mind... but why?"

"Thank you!!"

I dashed toward the broken cart abandoned in the corner of the field.

What I needed wasn't the cart itself but its wheels.

Sculpting magic, due to the manual manipulation involved, inevitably struggles with creating perfect circles.

In cases like this, it's best to repurpose existing items.

"Hmm, how should I rotate the wheels? Using wind magic alone might lack power..."

Motorcycle... Engine... Motor... Motor. A motor!!

I hurried back to the mansion in a dash, heading towards the location of the warehouse.

"I'm certain it was around here!! A copper sword!!"

All the leather equipment had turned to dust, but it was fortunate that there were metal weapons buried here.

If I shape this into a cord using sculpting magic...

"Copper wire, complete!! Now, I just need to create a 'C' shape with iron... and as for the magnet, can I make it with lightning magic?"

Since conveniently there was no magnet available, I had to make it too.

I wound copper wire around an iron lump and hit it repeatedly with full-strength lightning magic.

With the output capable of killing a person, I finally managed to create a magnet.

Oh, don't ask me about the principles, okay? I learned it from a manga called Doctor S◯one.

"Once I combine these, the motor will be complete!!"

It looked awkward, but when I tried flowing electricity through it with lightning magic, it worked just fine.

There were some concerns, but well, it should be okay.

"Oh, right. If I enchant lightning magic onto something, and then turn the accelerator, electricity will flow from there to the motor..."

Hehehe, it's complete.

Just at that moment, my father returned to the mansion.

"Kunou? What are you doing?"

"Father, perfect timing. As an apology for burning down the warehouse before, I was making a present."

"A present? Is that what this is? What is it?"

"An automatic motorcycle... well, structurally, it's more like a mini four-wheel drive. It runs on magic, so if I were to name it, it'd be a 'magic-powered motorcycle,' I suppose. Ahem. Let me present it properly."

It's not a secret, but when showing someone a creation, let's do it with respect like Doraemon.

"Tere tere tere, a magic-powered motorcycle!"

"No, seriously, what is this?"

"Actually, this is a vehicle. It's like a carriage without using horses!!"

"A carriage without using horses?"

"Yes!! Please, give it a try for now!!"

"Uh, like this? *straddles the motorcycle*"

My father sat on the bike.

"Now, grab the handles and twist the one on the right side."

"Like this? ――Whoa!!!!!"

*Gyuon!!!*

With a tremendous noise, my father's figure disappeared. Well, it seemed like he disappeared.

Following my father's figure with my eyes, I saw him forcefully crashing into the wall surrounding the estate.

"Are you alright, Father?"

"W-What on earth is this!? It was incredibly fast!"

Father shouted in surprise, lying on the ground.

"Th-This is amazing!! With this, transporting heavy things would become much easier!"

"Oh, there's that use too. Actually, I made it for you to relieve your stress."

"I-Is that so!! I'm going to ride it on some random road for a bit!!"

"Have a safe ride!"

With those words, my father went outside the estate.

From somewhere, I heard a voice that seemed like Mohawk shoulder pads from a post-apocalyptic movie would scream, "Yaaahhh!!" But I didn't pay it any mind.

...Ah.

"I forgot to put on the brakes... In fact, if I think calmly, unpaved roads with wooden wheels might be dangerous, right? Plus, there's no suspension, so it might hurt the backside... Well, Father should be fine, I guess."

Ten minutes later.

Father, who had tripped over a small stone and sustained severe injuries, was carried back to the mansion by Butler-san.

Fortunately, Mother's healing magic prevented it from becoming a serious issue, but both Father and I found ourselves in a six-hour-long lecture session.

Even though it was Father who had the accident...

In order to avoid being scolded further, I vowed in my heart to improve the magic-powered motorcycle.

  1. Interesting seeing stuff be made only halfway. When you get the basic down, you tend to forget all the other minor parts after the fact (like breaks and shock suspension).

This feels more realistic for an MC despite his OP skills since most other MC’s make it perfectly on the second try (first time doesn’t do anything and second time just works) when they don’t have a full point of reference or understanding.
