Seeing her mistress, just thirteen years old, willing to fight for her sake despite her fear, Refana felt ashamed.

A girl of such young age had resolved to sacrifice herself for others, and here she was, feeling weak and powerless.

She hadn't been raised to be a coward, trembling behind a girl like that.

"No, no, Miss Maria, you should be the one to escape. I-I have some knowledge of swordsmanship. If only I could get my hands on one of the swords the escorts had!!"

"S-So, that's why, let's do this together!! Let's survive together, Miss Maria!!"

"Yes, yes!! I'll do my best to survive!!"

As Maria Liese said this and opened the carriage door, she was about to cast her magic at the same time.

"Huh? What's that? Hey, what the heck is that!?"

"Hmm? Wh-What in the world!? A new kind of monster!?"

"R-Run!! It's charging towards us!!"

That familiar sound to Maria Liese echoed throughout the area.

"Hey, hey, hey!! If you don't run, I'll run you over!! And I'll crisp you up with the flamethrower while I'm at it!!"

"Starting with you first!! Don't worry, I won't kill you!! Hehehe, it's my first time intentionally running over people, but when it's scumbags like you, my heart doesn't ache at all. It's exhilarating to no end!! The ultimate high!! Hyaaahhh!!!"

Thud, thud, thud, thud.

Occasionally, there was the sound of flames roaring, "Gooooo!!!"

Maria Liese continued the conversation with the boy who now spoke rationally, the same voice that had shouted 'Hyaaahhh!!' outside the carriage moments ago, looking a bit surprised.

"No, I truly appreciate it. I don't have anything now, so how about expressing my gratitude in the capital?"

"You don't need to thank me. Helping each other out is what people do in times of trouble, right?"

"T-Those words..."

"Well, as long as you keep quiet about this incident, that's all I ask for."

The boy lightly tapped a black-painted iron box.

Recognizing it and recalling a familiar proverb, Maria Elise asked with tears in her eyes, 

"Do you understand these words?"

"...Huh? Um, why...?"

Maria Liese started speaking in a language different from that of this world.

Hearing this, the boy widened his eyes and made a puzzled face.

Seeing his reaction, Maria Liese became certain.

"I knew it, I knew you'd understand!! You, were Japanese too!!"

"Seriously!?”

The boy also expressed his surprise in the same language.

Here and now, the two people, residents of different worlds, marveled at the serendipity.
