Chapter 460: Mass Production

We all ate the lunch that had been brought in. The topic of conversation was, of course, the newly unveiled water heater.

“To think it shuts off with steam pressure… That’s just what I’d expect from someone who’s developed so many magical tools.”

“It just happened to come to me, really.”

I laughed it off, but honestly, my stomach hurt. Because there’s an original source, you know? I really don’t know how the other reincarnators bear the guilt. I should probably change the subject soon, or I might actually get an ulcer.

“Alex-niisan, how’s the stock of magic potions looking?”

“Well…”

Alex-niisan gave a wry smile. He looked very reluctant to answer. Sister-in-law Daniella, who was sitting next to him, also looked troubled. I had a good guess of the situation. There’s no need to even visit the company.

“All the magic potions have sold out. We’re waiting for new stock.”

“I figured. You could’ve just told me that.”

“We felt bad asking Julius for help when he just got back.”

Alex-niisan looked pitiful, his eyebrows drawn in apologetically. There’s no need to worry about that. I was going to end up making them anyway, so it would’ve been better to make them early and sell them off before the customers got frustrated.

“If it’s me, it’s no problem. I’ll make the potions while taking proper breaks.”

“Thanks, Julius. Then, could I leave it to you?”

“Leave it to me.”

Looks like this afternoon’s schedule is changing to potion-making. First, I need to gather the necessary ingredients from the herb garden and greenhouse. I’ll take Mira with me for a walk while I’m at it. I thought about bringing Fabienne along too, but I’d better not. I can’t drag her into the mess surrounding the Heine Frontier Family.

“There was talk about hiring a new potion-maker too.”

“Is that not possible?”

“It’s not impossible, but you know, there are a lot of secrets, right? Finding a potion-maker who can keep them would be tough.”

“I see…”

His Majesty the King has given us a provisional name, but it seems we can’t use it openly. That means, for the time being, it’ll just be me and Fabienne working together. Sister-in-law Daniella looked troubled too. I can’t make her worry any more than this.

As soon as lunch ended, I got moving. I took Mira with me to collect materials for the potions. Rosaria was heading to the workshop. Apparently, Edward is coming this afternoon. They’ll probably get excited over the water heater. Hopefully, they’ll go straight into mass production.

“I was a bit worried, but it looks like they’re growing well.”

“Oh, Julius-sama! As you can see, I’ve been managing it. I’ve been putting the harvested materials into the ‘preservation containers’ just as you instructed. But it’s getting close to full…”

“Right! Thanks. That really saved me some trouble. I’ll make a slightly larger preservation container next time.”

I’ll leave harvesting new materials for another time. First, I’ll use up the ingredients already stored in the container. I checked around the herb garden with Mira and Nero, and then we inspected the greenhouse. The gardeners had been taking care of it, so there didn’t seem to be any problems. When things settle down, I’ll need to start cultivating new ingredients.

Once the inspection and stroll were done, I immediately began making magic potions. I left Mira with Sister-in-law Daniella in the salon. She’ll probably feed her lots of dried fruit. Meanwhile, I headed into the mixing room to start mass-producing potions.

“Nero, you can rest too. You must be tired, right? It’s just making potions non-stop, so I’ll be fine on my own.”

“I couldn’t possibly. If there’s anything I can help with, please tell me.”

Nero’s so earnest. It would’ve been great if he could make potions too, but he doesn’t seem interested. I can’t force him to do something he’s not into, so it can’t be helped. Maybe I could have him make intermediary materials? No, better not.

After that, I diligently started making potions. Just as the knight guarding the herb garden had said, the preservation container was stuffed full of ingredients. I’ll definitely need to expand the container soon. Since Father knows about the preservation container being here, I’ll go ahead and make it without hesitation.

I kept making potions, practically using up all the stored materials, and managed to secure a substantial inventory. Seeing the quantity, Nero’s eyes sparkled, and Alex-niisan and Sister-in-law Daniella looked visibly relieved.

“With this much, we should be fine for a while.”

“Thank you, Julius dear. I’m so glad. Everyone’s been waiting for the magic potions to go on sale from the Heine Trading Company.”

“I’m glad all that hard work paid off. Now I can finally take a breath. From now on, I plan to return to my usual pace with Fabienne.”

“I’m counting on you. Julius, we’ll need to go pick up Fabienne tomorrow.”

Alex-niisan said with a serious expression. I have been spending the past two days solely making potions, after all. Of course, I’ve explained the situation to Fabienne, but she might be starting to feel uneasy by now.

“Of course. Starting tomorrow, I’ll be counting on you to help with Fabienne too.”

“Got it. Leave it to me.”

“I’ll make sure Fabienne knows just how hard you’ve been working, Julius dear.”

I’m really lucky to have such a dependable brother and sister-in-law.
