Chapter 10- Find Nina!

It has been a month since I entered the school.

I had been able to train 7 days a week until I entered the school, but now my training hours are only 2 days a week on Saturdays and Sundays, which I thought would be very painful for me to become stronger, but both Renji-san and my father told me that my schoolwork was more important right now.

I couldn't say anything because they were right, and I was quietly attending classes.

If they says that academics are more important, does that mean I'm going to go on to college?

To be honest, I don't think I need a qualification like a lawyer or a doctor to be an exorcist, and I don't need an academic background either. If I want, I can become an exorcist as a junior high school graduate instead of entering high school. I think a junior high school graduate exorcist would be bad in many ways.

While thinking about things that can’t be helped, I ignore the math class going on.

......Well, I'm bored.

In my previous life, I was never the smartest person, but that doesn't mean I'm so dumb that I can't understand the first grade of elementary school.

So I'm really bored during these classes.

However, I came up with a new training program to make sure that my free time doesn't end up just being free time.

It's called the “Silvate Output Reinforcement Training”

There are three reasons why exorcism is said to be a world of talent.

One. To see monsters, you need to be psychic.

However, everyone born into an exorcist family is born with this ability.

Two. The total amount of magic power you are born with doesn’t change as you grow up.

But I've gone through training with the magic eater, and now I'm at the seventh rank.

This is also no problem for me.

And three. The problem is this third one.

It's about magic output.

What I mean by magic output is that when the total amount of magic power is 100, no one can produce 100 at once. Usually, it’s 20 or 30. Inevitably, the output will decrease in relation to the total amount.

The limit of the number of silvate threads that can be produced is also largely due to this output.

For example, an exorcist with a magic output of 20 can only produce up to a thread of silvate with a magic output of 1. Then, what would happen if this exorcist produced threads of silvate with a magic output of 10? The answer is simple: He can produce only two.

To be honest, I don't know how many threads of silvate I can produce or how much I can produce per thread.

But I do know how much magic power I can put into each thread. That's why I'm training to increase the amount of thread silvate.

The training is very simple, just join your hands together and use the thread to increase the amount of magic power you can put into the thread little by little.

It has the disadvantage of being so simple that it is difficult to see the results of the training.

Moreover, it has been two weeks since I started this training, and the increase in output before and after the training is probably 1.1 or 1.2 times. It is too simple.

But it's also because it's so simple that I can do it secretly during class.

So I put my hand on the desk, put my five fingers together, and increase the output of magic power.

I have to get stronger and stronger.

While I was thinking about this, the bell rang and the class came to an end.

That's it for today's class. The rest of the day will end with cleaning up and a homecoming party. I hope it’ll be over soon.

As I was putting away the pencils I had left out in my pencil box and the math textbook in my desk, Nina, who was sitting next to me, got up and walked out of the classroom by herself.

"Huh? Nina-chan. Cleaning up?"

“......”

I spoke to her, but she sniffed and walked out of the classroom. The rest of the group did not say anything in response. Nina-chan seemed to be in the mood that it couldn't be helped because she was like that.

It has been one month after admission.

Nina was clearly out of place in the classroom.

At first, she was surrounded by girls because of her blonde hair and blue eyes, but now, after a month, she is completely out of touch with them because of her self-consciousness, or rather, the aura that says, "I don't get along with you guys”. No, that’s not true. I'm the only one involved.

But I don't go after her when she leaves the classroom. I talk to her during lunch and she ignores me, I talk to her during cleaning and she ignores me. It was getting heartbreaking.

“Itsuki-kun. Can I talk to you for a minute?”

"Yes.”

I was called by my homeroom teacher as I was finishing up cleaning my seat, so I walked up to the front of the classroom. Then as soon as we met, they teacher asked me with a wry smile.

“Itsuki-kun, do you get along with Nina-chan?”

“Umm? I wonder if we get along…"

I’m not very confident about it.

“Nina-chan just arrived in Japan and she seems to be having trouble in an unfamiliar environment.”

“Yes.”

Well, I can know that very much from the feeling of talking.

The reason for coming to Japan from a foreign country in the first place is 'to win against me’ is a bit unnatural. It is much more understandable to think that she came to Japan when her parents were transferred to another country, heard a rumor about me there, and set a goal to "win”.

No, she was an elementary school student, so she didn't think that deeply about it and might have been aware of the fact that I was stronger than her because I’m seventh rank. The scary thing about elementary school students is that they can't just dismiss this as a "no".

I wondered how the homeroom teacher would come to terms with Nina-chan's fluency in Japanese despite the fact that she had just arrived in Japan. I wondered a little.

“Itsuki-kun, I want you to be friends with Nina-chan.”

“With Nina-chan?”

“Yes. If she doesn't have friends, it will be hard for her to come to school and Itsuki-kun, you will miss your classmate, right?”

It is a bad thing for adults not to be able to nod their heads honestly and say, "I'll miss you," when a teacher asks that question. For better or worse, we separate ourselves from others, so when they stop coming, we just think, "Oh, I see”.

But that's only possible because it’s between adults.

I don't know what the reason is for her being so uptight, but I can't deny the possibility that Nina-chan is feeling somewhat alienated from her exorcist status, as she doesn't tell people around her that she is an exorcist.

If that's the case, the fastest way is for me, an exorcist, to become friends with Nina-chan.

The teacher would never think so much of it, but the fact is that I’m the only member of the first grade class who talks to Nina-chan, so it is almost as if I have no choice.

Besides, if I can become friends with Nina-chan, the number of my exorcist friends will increase.

If I have more friends, I will be much closer to my goal of "making 10 friends" by the time I graduate.

That's why I gave my consent to the teacher.

“Yes! I'll be friends with Nina-chan!”

“Thank you.”

The teacher's face was a mixture of relief and comfort as she smiled, and I felt a little sympathy for her.

Okay, then, let's look for Nina-chan.

  1. Eh… Really? This feels like a forced development. It’s not as if he needs to make friends with her specifically to get the total number of friends he is aiming to get.
