Chapter 26: Pillar of Light

───── I was surprised.

　I thought I would get some kind of reaction, but I didn’t think I would actually get a response. A voice that could be either male or female. Someone who was clearly of a different caliber than pink head answered my call.

　And now, a huge pillar of light descended right in front of me.

　Even though I am not from this world, I could feel firsthand that this pillar was no ordinary thing.

─────We got a big one 

　In response to the sunlight, it begins to sparkle, and eventually begins to shine brightly, as if it has absorbed the sunlight.

　Oh, shit. For the first of many times,  light outburst. It seems that my own eyes are finally going to get the best of me.

　Not only were my eyes half-closed, but I’ve got threadbare eyes.

　The balls of light, which had been wandering around softly and lost here and there, flocked to the pillar as if being drawn to it.

　───── Oh, I see, that's how they enter, they go up the pillar of light.

"Here, receive this."

　Suddenly, I heard a woman’s voice in my ear, and regardless of my intention, something was pressed into my hand.

　When I looked at what I had unexpectedly received, I saw that it was a ring with some kind of fine workmanship on it.

"──────oi! No good bastard! I can’t do that!  Take it with you!"

 I can’t  take it with me, so, you take it! I reach out my hand and try to return it.

　And then, drip, drip, drip, drip… I found myself surrounded by things like necklaces and tags, bracelets made of leather, and, to top it all off, steel armor that rained down. And what else? It dropped an unsheathed sword. It struck me in the foot.　

They’re no good! I mean, where did it get these from? What is with the fancy design! They say they’re giving it to me, but no matter how I look at it, it's leftover items. What do you want me to do with it?*

　While I was panicking away, the balls of light were sucked into the pillar, and the pillar quickly ascended up and disappeared, as if its work was done.

"Eeeeee~”

　The blue sky has completely returned to normal. The weather looks like it's going to be nice today. ────Ah, I wonder if there are four seasons...I want to go cherry blossom viewing.

“What are you going to do with this?”

　A child’s doll was on Hakuyo’s nose.*

　After the purifying flame was extinguished, the place was backfilled neatly.

　I wondered if tombstones were something different, so I turned the place into a field of flowers, just like I did when I “healed'' Mother Fenrir that day. The difference from that time is that all the flowers that have bloomed are as white as silver. They glittered and shone slightly in the sunlight.

"I’ve been working all night..."

　I was just about to wrap myself in Shiro-kun's tail and going to sleep...

　In the reflection of the rising sun, I could see a large river below us.

"Shiro-kun! I'm in the mood for fish, so let's go fishing over there! Fish!"

"I prefer grilled meat."

　Fish, is meat, I said and headed for the river. “Oh, I found some matsutake mushrooms!!”Again, with a single word, the “Matsutake mushroom hunting” began once more.
