Chapter 12: Something’s coming!

Protection? The tree? What does that mean? What’s the point of having only one choice?

　I mean, what is this screen?

“It’s a navigation system.”

　There were more letters that looked kind of sulky. Was it there, navigation?...Sorry, but

“What do you mean, “protect”? You want me to protect this whole tree? Why?”

　I tilt my head in confusion because I didn’t understand, then the “Appraisal'' screen appeared as if saying, “Hi, hi.”

“Fairy Peach tree. This tree is quite special! It has a perfect shape and a mellow aroma! In fact, not only is it delicious, but there are so many other things to offer that it has been targeted by all kinds of things and over-harvested! There are not many of these trees left! So pitiful! ”

　

　It talks a lot (?). I understand that this means that it is an endangered species...but

“Do you want to protect it? →Yes.”

　The selection screen appears right in front of my face. This guy is very aggressive.

“Protection where?"

“It will be classified under the important items column of the item box. Do you want to protect it?→ Yes?”

The navigation screen came even closer to my face.  When I looked at the peach tree, wondering if I had the right to veto it and saw that the whole trees was rustling and shaking. I could feel the atmosphere of “Hurry up, hurry up, get excited!”‥‥‥‥ Oh, you weren’t normal either.

　───── “Fairy  Peach Tree” has been added to the important item section of the item box.

“Ah~Ah, what a bummer, but I’m  worn out."

Lying down on the spot and watching the clouds in the sky as the sun is setting.  Well, it’s my own fault, but not at will. It’s the “navigator’s” fault, but I have no idea what it wants me to do.

“Give me a peach, please.”

With a whisper, a peach appeared instantly. I’m going to take a bite of it while I’m still lying down. When I was about to bite while lying down, I felt a tremor and woke up.

"─────What? Earthquake?"

　I stood up, hoping not to be hit by an earthquake in an unfamiliar place, but the shaking got louder and louder in the meantime. 　I began to wonder if this was indeed a bad idea.

“Something is coming.”

“What do you mean, what’s coming? ───── eek!”

　 Something huge came down from ───── above.

　It passed right in front of me and slammed into the ground below, but it did not seem to stop moving.

“Ehh~ what? Is this a scuffle?”

　I described it as a fight, but it was not such a cute scene. The two animals that seemed to be fighting each other were both quite large. Every time the two swapped sides, the ground was gouged and the surrounding trees destroyed. The vibrations that echoed through the air each time were enough to make me feel unsteady on my feet. I didn’t really feel like biting into the peach anymore and put it back in the item box.

　It was quite a gruesome scene, with pieces of what looked like flesh flying about and blood splattering all over the area.

“Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr!”

“Geeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!”

　I instinctively covered my ears at the terrifying roar of the animals. The sight of each side grappling with the other’s body is truly a sight to behold.

“〇Great Beast War‥‥‥‥”

　 　The moment I muttered, one of them flew towards me────. The impact of the huge body hitting the wall made me fall to both knees, unable to stand. I looked down and saw the bloody beast lying there. It looked like a dog or a wolf, a beast with whitish fur. It is bleeding profusely from the mouth, seemed to have sustained considerable damage, and it was having difficulty getting up.

　

　I turned at the sound of something falling behind me with a thud ──── and saw something bloody and sharp sticking out. ────That was close! What is that? Could it be a tooth? Fangs? It's huge.

　As I was looking at the fallout, I suddenly saw a shadow cast over me.

　I spun around and saw ───── another one standing up and looking at me.

“‥‥‥‥ gi.”**

　I didn't know better because the two of them had been wrestling with each other until just now.

I knew it was something blackish. I couldn’t tell exactly what it was. But ─────

“It's G."

“Giyaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa──────!”

　 　With a ───── bonk, the big rock explodes out of the ground, and the guy’s head went poof ────! His head exploded!
