Intermission: Examiner Cordell, at the school practice field

　The examiner, Cordell, took a deep breath while fixing his round glasses.

　It is just before nightfall. No one was in the examination room anymore.

　This year's entrance exam was a tough one.

“Thank you for your hard work, Professor Cordell.”

"Oh. Thank you for your hard work, Karen-sensei."

　I return the greeting to the female faculty member.

"How was it this year?"

　When asked, Cordell answered while raising his round glasses.

　The ice covering the test site had not yet melted.

　Because of this, the surroundings were chilly.
