Just another Isekai Lover~

Chapter 28: Cat and Dog ⑤

Relic [Fairy Incarnate]—the only relic usable exclusively by Fairials.
By enlarging herself, her allure increased. She felt different from Mineha-san somehow.
So this is what a mature woman feels like.

With a gentle smile, she held out a sheet of parchment.

“Thank you for waiting~ It’s been confirmed~ This is the request for collecting 4 horns of Monoceros’ magic silver~”

“Indeed.”

Four horns. If each is worth between 300,000 to 500,000 Ouro, then one million lines up.
It really is worth one million Ouro. Velent-san… thank you.

“This is the request acceptance form~ Please have both the contractor and the hired individuals sign~ If you can’t write, we can fill it out for you~”

“No need. Just give me a pen.”

“Yes~ Here you go~ Please sign here~”

First, Pakira-san signed. Then me. Finally, Juicy-san. After signing, we handed it in.
The receptionist double-checked Juicy-san’s name. Ah—Tasan, huh.

“Yes~ All confirmed~ Request accepted~”

Without any particular comment, the receptionist handed over a card and a key.
Also, a monocle with a feather decoration and a handle.

The card was metal with engraved designs. The key was slightly large, with a number carved into the head.
The monocle had a handle and a decorative single feather attached. I wasn’t sure what it was for.

“Um, um, Pakira-san, what are these?”

“You’ll see soon. Let’s go.”

Pakira-san took the card, key, and monocle and headed… inside the guild?
Wait, where are we going?

Turns out, one of the many reception counters in the adventurer’s guild was actually a gate.
In front stood a red-haired Faun receptionist, holding a spear.

Pakira-san showed her the card, and the gate opened.
We went through the gate and descended the stairs.

It was underground—not the same area as the large return circle we saw before.
Lanterns lined the hallway at even intervals, and numbered doors were set into brick walls.

Pakira-san checked the key and numbers, confirming each door as we watched in silence.

“This is the one.”

She inserted the key and opened the door. Inside was a small room.
A magic circle, glowing faintly blue, was embedded in the stone floor. It looked familiar.

“Is this what I think it is?”

“Let’s go.”

“U-Um, I—I’m excited!”

“Me too.”

“Nah!”

We stepped into the magic circle. The scene in front of us changed instantly.
Suddenly, we were in a small rocky space.

There was a door, which we opened—and beyond it was a hallway surrounded by stone walls.
I could tell right away this wasn’t the guild anymore.

“Is this… a dungeon?”

“Yes.”

“U-Um, could this be the dungeon with Monoceros?”

“Yes. The Monoceros dungeon can only be accessed through a teleportation circle located under the guild. That’s why only those with permission can come here.”

That’s right, a teleportation circle. So the only way in or out is through that.
In that case, entering from the surface would be practically impossible.

“So it’s to prevent overhunting.”

“Exactly. And this—”

Pakira-san showed us the monocle with the feather.

“Woff? The feather looks nice!”

“Is this… a legendary relic?”

“Yes. It’s called the Eye of Fortune. Looking through it lets you see value—meaning it can identify whether a Monoceros has magic silver.”

Eye of Fortune…? Fortune… I gasped a little.

“I-Is it color-based identification?”

“Yes. It appears as green light.”

“U-Um, that’s amazing! So useful!”

Green, huh? So that means it’s rare.

“With this, we can identify the magic silver.”

“U-Um, so if we used it in a junkyard, could we find treasure too?”

“Yes. Since it reveals value. Though this legendary relic is extremely rare, so its use is heavily restricted.”

“…”

I suddenly felt a strange sense of guilt.

“So it only shows green light?”

“That’s right.”

So it only detects rare items… it’s clearly a lower-tier version of my Wheel of Fortune.
I had no idea something like this existed.

“That’s enough explanation. Let’s try it out.”

“U-Um, woof woof! I’m excited!”

“Nah!”

“…”

Monoceros is up ahead.

As we followed the stone path, it opened up into a large field—a meadow.
There, a herd of Monoceros was already running.

They looked like horses with six legs and long, thick horns.
The ceiling above was rough stone, glimmering faintly. Glow moss?

The junkyard ceiling had that too—it gave off light, so it wasn’t too dark.
It was pleasantly bright.

“Hmm. Hmm-hmm.”

Pakira-san watched the Monoceros herd through the Eye of Fortune.

“U-Um, did you see any with magic silver?”

Juicy-san wagged her tail enthusiastically. Looked like she’d pounce the moment one was found.

“Hmm… doesn’t look like any in that group have it.”

“Woff, um, then, let’s find the next!”

“…”

Just to try, I used my relic, Wheel of Fortune.
No light. That herd was a miss.

While walking through the meadow, we encountered a group of small monsters.
Three-eyed rabbits—copper rank, lower tier. They attacked us right away but weren’t much trouble.

Pakira-san cut them down with wind blades, Juicy-san punched them to death, and I fought with a knife.

“U-Um, woof woof! This is fun!”

Wow. Juicy-san timed her strikes perfectly to their leaps, hitting their third eye dead-on.
Almost all one-hit kills. Must be the Weakness Insight relic.

She can spot vital points on anything weaker than herself. Even Pakira-san looked impressed.

I wasn’t about to lose—blocking and parrying the attacks of the three-eyed rabbits, I slashed with my knife.

Even though it felt cruel, I stabbed one of the eyes while it was wounded. Alright. I took down one out of the three.

I wasn’t using the dagger-knife.

It was the second knife I bought for 50,000. It had a strange blade—single-edged and curved upward.

It was a bit heavy, but thick and powerful.

The three-eyed rabbits attacked in groups, leaping at us with claws and fangs.

They were annoying and troublesome. But not to brag—I’ve gotten stronger too.

Using the self-defense techniques and knife skills I learned from the witch, I fought back against the three-eyed rabbits.

Honestly, if it were just about defeating them, using [Banish] would be easier. Just a touch, and they vanish.

However, that vanishing causes some problems.

If I’m not careful, it can erase important body parts needed for proof of subjugation or rare material components.

It can even erase the knife I’m holding.

It’s convenient, but hard to control—that’s the downside.

And my [Vanish] can’t be used unless my hand is in contact with the target.

Its range of motion is limited to the wrist. That’s another weakness.

Even so, we wiped out the group of three-eyed rabbits.

“U-um, Pakira-san. For these three-eyed rabbits, what’s the subjugation part?”

“These monsters aren’t worth much. Their meat isn’t even that tasty.”

“Still, I want to know!”
“Me too, I’m curious.”

Even if it’s not worth much, it’s still worth something. Pakira-san sighed.

“The part you need is the third eye. That third eye is the proof of subjugation.”

“Eh… By the way, how much is one worth?”

“If it’s in bad condition, nothing. If it’s in good condition, maybe 100 auro. At best, 500 auro.”

“…So, if it’s damaged, it’s worthless?”

“That’s right. So, they’re not really profitable. And preserving them for transport is a pain.”

Ah, because they’re biological materials, they must be delicate. Definitely not worth the effort.

In other words, there’s no demand for them—even if someone buys them.

“U-um, Wof-sama. I, uh, focused too much on crushing the third eye…”

“I-I did something similar.”
“Na!”

“That’s how it is. Now, let’s find another group.”

And so, leaving behind the corpses of the three-eyed rabbits, we searched for the next group of Monoceros.

After walking for a while—we found them. Another group of Monoceros. Even larger than the first.

Pakira-san used the [Eye of Fortune].

“I see it! One green one.”

I also used my [Wheel of Fortune] relic. There really was one glowing green.

Even with this large herd of dozens, only one glowed—hm?

There’s a yellow one.

Near the green-glowing Monokeros, there was one glowing yellow.

No other yellow glows in sight. No other green ones either.

“…”

This is intriguing.

The [Eye of Fortune] is definitely a lesser version of my relic.

It can’t detect lights above green-level rarity.

Which is why the yellow Super Rare-glowing Monoceros caught my attention.

It’s near the green one, and slightly larger.

“U-um, Pakira-san. The Monoceros with the magic silver—how should we take it down?”

“We don’t take it down. We’re here for the horn.”

“……”

The problem is how to get the horn from that Monoceros.

It’d be suspicious to go for any target other than the one we’re aiming for.

Letting these two know about my relic… I don’t feel any resistance to that.

Pakira-san and Juicy-san. I can trust them.

But revealing it now, at this moment… okay. I’ll tell them.

I’ll tell them about my relic.
