Chapter 32: The Sword Saint Sings.

Around the time Ren and the others were returning to Euphaim on horseback...

In the center of that solitary island stood a shrine. It was a sacred place, rarely visited by people, with a connection to the Lion King.

"...Phew. It's not something you find just anywhere."

The voice belonged to a woman. Dressed in a jet-black robe, she let out a sigh on the island offshore. She held a treasure that had been offered deep inside the hollow revealed by magic in the shrine, and she knew it was a magic stone.

Although the seal inside the shrine was protected by a strong barrier that still held true in modern times, she didn't care and broke through it to enter.

Jumping out of the shrine's hollow, the woman walked alone on the small island. She had come this far on a small wooden boat that she rode alone.

"I was hoping to find more of the Seven Heroes' equipment, but oh well. Let's search elsewhere."

Using magic to move the boat, she continued for a few minutes.

"I have to hurry back before the Sword King and the Leomel magicians set their sights on me. Fighting those kids is troublesome, so I should go."

Further out at sea, she saw a huge shadow swimming right below the boat.

Taking off her hood, the woman's hair fluttered in the sea breeze. It was silver hair with several black meshes.

She smiled gracefully with her well-proportioned features, and her eyes narrowed. They were odd-colored eyes like precious gems.

"I'll give this to you, so go and rampage – Messenger of the Giant God, Wadatsumi."

She threw the magic stone she obtained in the shrine toward the huge shadow floating in the water.

◇ ◇ ◇ ◇

The sea beneath the cape where Ren and the others were advancing started to sway. The sea surface rose irregularly, and water pillars sprang up from the surrounding sea.

As the water pillars whipped like whips, about to strike the cape...

"Please step back."

Edgar stepped forward and drew two swords he carried on his waist. Both of these swords were capable of special martial arts that could be wielded by Sword Saint-level practitioners.

It was similar yet different from what Estelle had demonstrated to Ren and Licia in the past. Due to the characteristic of changing depending on the user, it...

"Think you can lay a hand on the master in front of me?"

Edgar was also a formidable individual, with his absolute ice. His magic was like the essence of the freezing blue waves. In an instant...

『Hmm... Where did you learn the hard swordsmanship?』

The scenes that Ren saw flashed before him.

『It was from a woman. She's incredibly strong.』

『No, it couldn't be the Director of the Lion Sanctuary...』

『That's impossible. After all, that person is also looking for me, who killed Klonoa, and the same goes for Edgar. It must be someone else. 』

It was inside some old, dusty building. Ren Ashton was talking to Edgar. They were probably two people from a different worldline that he had witnessed before.

"What do you think about showing me your swordsmanship, Edgar-san?"

"Understood. Then, let me show you my unique swordsmanship."

Just like in reality, it was a beautiful blue.

The scene ended in less than a second. Ren and Edgar were acquainted even in the legend of the Seven Heroes, and they acted together. The reason why the two came to work together was unknown. Although Ren wanted to see more of it, it wasn't the time for that now.

The water arm and Edgar's sword clashed, freezing the water arm.

"I'm here too, Edgar-san."

Ren, a bit late to react, used the Red Sword. Summoning and swinging the flaming magic sword that he had carried at his waist from the beginning. He turned the newly formed water arm into ordinary seawater this time.

The heat wave caused by evaporation was blocked by the pressure of the sword, and Edgar sent the frozen water arm flying into the sea.

The steam was dispersed, and no one's skin was burned.

Edgar turned back to Ren and smiled.

"Once again, you've improved."

During this opportunity, they had to leave this place and return to the town. Ren ran his horse cautiously at the rear of the group, with Ulysses, whom had to be protected at all cost, at the center.

At the same time, he pondered the attack he had just witnessed. Why was the Messenger of the Giant God, Wadatsumi, here?

Wadatsumi was a creature that existed in the sea areas around the Demon Continent, a subordinate of some being as the name suggested. It was a powerful monster that might attack the imperial capital in the future.

(It was a creature that Ren had seen in a dream before, the creature that Vane and the others fought in the sea near the imperial capital when Ren Ashton killed Klonoa.)

The Sea King and the Messenger of the Giant God, Wadatsumi's master.

Both of them were creatures that Vane and the others had fought, and there was no doubt about that. However, it was still unclear...

Why was Wadatsumi here? Had Vane and the others already fought it off? Or was this a different individual for some reason?

"Ren Ashton! It seems to be the monster we were on guard for!"

"Yes! But why is it here...?!"

"Well, we don't know the reason, but the fact is that it appeared within our territory! Fortunately, I have reinforced our forces in case of such an event, but to appear around here...!"

A battleship would come soon. The cape was filled with steep rocks, making it difficult to ride horses inland.

The distance from the cape to the sea was still close, and they could even look down at the coast.

Ren saw a huge shadow swimming in the sea.

(...It doesn't seem injured.)

If that was the case, it meant Vane and the others had already repelled it, right?

If so, there were two possibilities.

One was that Wadatsumi had not appeared in the Leonardo territory at all and had shown up here instead.

The other was a ridiculous thought that Ren himself didn't believe, that it might be a second individual Wadatsumi.

The setting was that there were multiple Wadatsumis. Although it seemed absurd, he couldn't completely dismiss it, especially when he was witnessing it firsthand.

He had an upper B-rank certification from the guild. That was why it was the perfect opportunity to showcase the Hero's equipment, but...

"OOOOOHHH!"

A breath attack was about to be unleashed from the sea. Judging from its appearance, it didn't seem to have fled here after being exhausted, indicating it wasn't defeated before.

Edgar, Ren, and the knights were ready to react. Suddenly, Ren felt discomfort.

(...Strange.)

The Messenger of the Giant God, Wadatsumi, possessed incredible strength. However, it didn't seem to be using its full power now. Ren didn't know, but the breath it released was more powerful than the one that attacked the Leonardo family's airship.

It felt like one or even two ranks higher than its expected upper B-rank strength, possibly reaching A-rank.

The creature's body was large, and its fins shimmered with great magic power.

Ren gripped the Flame Magic Sword with even more force, and the sword responded. The heat spread throughout his body, calling forth the space surrounded by star agates for battle.

Despite the fact they were undead, Ren had fought Asval and the Sword Demon. He couldn't be timid when facing legends.

"GyOOOOHHH!"

Finally, the breath released had more destructive power than what was directed at the Leonardo family's magic ship.

In other words, it was powerful. The water's breath, filled with more destructive force than ordinary magic weapons, struck the advancing cape.

Could they defend against it while riding horses and running? No, it was impossible.

However, the power of the Red Sword was considerable. It turned all the water arms that seemed to reach one step ahead of them into mere seawater.

The aftermath of the remaining breath spread, causing the cape behind Ren to collapse. It was enough.

The Messenger of the Giant God, Wadatsumi, focused its attention on Ren. Initially, it had aimed at Edgar, but now it was convinced that Ren and his flames were the main threat.

Without worrying about the shallow depth, it rapidly approached the cape. Thanks to Ren and Edgar's efforts, there were no casualties from the direct hit, but the cape had cracks.

The water arms struck the cape, and then an attack targeting only Ren divided them.

"Ren Ashton!"

Ulysses shouted with concern as he advanced.

"Go ahead! I'll withdraw soon!"

Ren wanted to buy time as much as possible. His purpose wasn't to defeat or repel the creature here; it was to stall for time. He didn't intend to fight alone here against an enhanced version of the creature, which was even stronger than what Vane and the others, Lord Leonardo, in Airia had fought.

Ulysses almost stopped in his tracks, but his presence would only hinder Ren. He also wondered if he could be of help to Ren. With such thoughts, he cursed himself for his lack of confidence, clicked his tongue, and rode his horse, leaving the battlefield.

(And then...?)

Buying time was mentioned, but what should be the strategy for the battle? The opponent is in the sea. Although they occasionally show themselves or approach, the battlefield is overwhelmingly advantageous for the opponent.

However, Ren was pleased to find himself surprisingly calm. He had fought Asval and the Sword Demon. These experiences boosted his confidence.

At the cape, Ren looked out at the sea from horseback. The horse neighed loudly and raised its front legs powerfully. The creature, the Messenger of the Giant God Wadatsumi, aimed for Ren from the sea.

"..............."

[――――]

Ren from the top of the cape, and the Messenger of the Giant God, Wadatsumi, peered from the sea.

Then, the sea monster underwater moved. It created water pillars all over the sea's surface and began to move, utilizing the power of water.

"...I said I'd buy time, but..."

Smiling wryly at the strength of the enemy, Ren raised his Flame Magic Sword. He was one-on-one against an enhanced Messenger of the Giant God, Wadatsumi, stronger than what Vane and the others, Lord Leonardo, and Airia had fought.

Yet, he wasn't afraid.

[Geeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee]

Despite finding the creature's high-pitched voice annoying...

The mass of water struck the cape. Ren dodged it and said.

"I wonder if I've become so strong that I can’t see this situation as unreasonable!"

The sound of impact roared as the terrain was destroyed. Most of the cape collapsed, rapidly falling into the sea.

Ren was riding a warhorse entrusted to him by the knights of Eupheim. The horse had magic beast blood, so it obediently followed Ren without hesitation even in this situation.

Using rocks and boulders that fell from the crumbling cape as footholds, Ren forced the warhorse to run.

Worried that he might fall completely under the cape, Ren spoke as he placed a large boulder as a foothold.

"Thanks. Stay somewhere safe. If you're scared, return to town."

Ren stroked the mane of the warhorse, removing its reins. He leaped into the air, using the rocks flying around him as a platform. As he neared the approaching water arms, he swung his Flame Magic Sword.

"Haaaah!"

Utilizing the Red Sword, he turned the approaching water arms back into ordinary seawater.

Some of the splashing seawater even reached Ren's face, mixed with sweat. He pushed back the seawater, along with his bangs, using his hand.

[――――?!]

The creature's consciousness, which should have seen a small boy, now changed. While it was certain that it had aimed at Ren as an enemy, it didn't expect to face such resistance. As it continued swimming in the sea, its vigilance increased.

Water arms approached from all around Ren, who had landed on the half-destroyed cape.

Suddenly, Ren’s body felt as if...

He heard a soothing sound similar to a flute ― a gentle, resonating tone.

He didn't understand why, but he was puzzled.

(Now…)

The identity was unknown, but his cloak (TN: A hard sword technique) changed after hearing the sound.

Or was it a change in cloak that brought about the difference? Ren refocused on the approaching water arms.

"Burn them to ashes."

With even more force, he wielded the Flame Magic Sword in a wide area.

The deep-red flames formed a wall that enveloped Ren. Every time the undulating surface touched the water arms, they were burned to ashes.

The scalding steam was also blocked by the wall of flames, and every threat disappeared.

However...

"...?"

The battle situation wasn't bad, but Ren felt a slight discomfort. Since he heard the sound earlier, his cloak didn't feel quite right. Although he could use his power much stronger than usual, it felt unstable, as if it didn't fully obey Ren's commands.

Even when he focused on his cloak again, the sensation didn't change. Then, the short flute-like sound echoed again. However, Ren tried to dismiss it as his imagination and stared defiantly at the sea.

Then...

"Wh----!?"

The Messenger of the Giant God, Wadatsumi, suddenly swam and leaped in front of the cape, its massive tail approaching Ren's eyes on the half-destroyed cape.

Ren tried to face it by wielding the Flame Magic Sword, but it wasn't just a matter of strength. Due to the overwhelming difference in weight, Ren's body was forced to retreat significantly on the semi-destroyed cape and was even knocked away.

Simultaneously, flying stones grazed Ren's cheek in mid-air, and a thin line of fresh blood appeared on his cheek.

Ren rotated his body in mid-air to stabilize himself, then thrust the Flame Magic Sword into the ground, enduring the pressure that pushed him back, and glared at the tip of the cape.

“-----------“

The border between the cape and the sea was terribly ambiguous, offering an excellent view. He made eye contact with the creature, showing its upper body on the sea surface, preparing to release a breath. Additionally, water arms had emerged and were wriggling around Ren from various points on the sea surface...

"OOOOOO!"

Following a roar that shook the air, the water arms simultaneously attacked Ren from all directions.

First, the water arms attacked the cape again, depriving Ren of his foothold. Just before the breath was released, as Ren gazed at the Messenger of the Giant God, Wadatsumi...

(If that's the case... No, but...!)

He recalled the presence of a certain power and attempted to use it. However, midway through, he reconsidered. He had convinced himself earlier that it was just his imagination, the difference in sensation while using his cloak. Moreover, considering the effect of the power he thought of, he couldn't afford to make any mistakes.

Ren reconsidered and intercepted with his Flame Magic Sword for what felt like the umpteenth time. He dealt with the water arms somehow, but the protection by the Red Sword against the breath, which was relentlessly attacking head-on, was slightly delayed.

Though he managed to create a wall of flames to block it, the pressure he couldn't dispel struck Ren. He wasn't knocked away, but his clothes were torn in many places, and he sustained injuries on his cheek and hands.

The powerful water breath continued. Holding the Flame Magic Sword, Ren gritted his teeth, enduring with all his might.

“...This...!”

And in this situation, he dispelled his hesitation.

The power he had avoided using earlier, he now unleashed it.

Eliminating his doubts, he sought to become equal to or even greater than the formidable enemy.

And in this situation, he dispelled the Flame Magic Sword and regained his composure, summoning the Mithril Magic Sword.

With his foothold gone, his body was lifted into the air. Amidst the released breath and the water arms attacking from all directions...

"I'll stand my ground...!"

All the powerful water magic attacked from all directions, surrounding the small boy.

Water splashed everywhere, soaring high into the air.

The Messenger of the Giant God, Wadatsumi, didn't sense the presence of overwhelming power it felt earlier. Instead, it heard a flute-like sound. Immediately, it saw a flash emanating from the center of the breath.

A tremendous surge of powerful magic, a bursting magic power.

Ren demonstrated the strength of the new fighting technique he acquired in the summer.

"Wadatsumi, I'm strong now!"

It was only a moment after Ren noticed young adventurers hiding behind rocks on the coastline below the cape.

◇ ◇ ◇ ◇

The first to approach the cape faster than the warship were Estelle and Fiona.

On their way, they encountered Ulysses and others heading towards the town.

"Fi-Fiona!? Why did you leave the town?"

The answer came from Estelle.

"I'm sorry. I thought she should return to the mansion, but I couldn't stay still due to my position. I judged that it would be safer for her to stay by my side and accompany me."

Estelle was the strongest knight in Leomel. She couldn't ignore the possibility of new abnormalities occurring in the town and decided it would be better to act together. Indeed, Estelle was a powerful knight.

"Also, I felt suspicious tremors from far away and instructed the townspeople to evacuate inland. Fiona was the one who took the lead and gave instructions on the main road."

Fiona also did her best, doing what she could in and outside the town. That's why she was outside the town as well.

"Fiona, thank you for acting quickly."

"No, I was acting under Estelle-sama's instructions...!"

The group stopped their horses and conversed while on horseback.

"Anyway, where's Ren?"

Ulysses and Edgar explained the situation. The intense sounds and powerful tremors reached them here. Among those sounds was the flute-like tone that had resonated from Ren's body.

"This sound..."

Estelle's eyes changed, containing much surprise in her voice.

"――――Kuku, Ren."

With a mischievous smile and just a single word, she glanced at Edgar.

"Edgar, did you hear it?"

"...Of course."

Both of them nodded to each other, and the tension that had lingered until a few seconds ago almost completely disappeared.

As if it were an ordinary day.

"Fiona, do you want to go meet Ren?"

And then, an outrageous proposal.

――――In the faraway Leonardo territory, everyone was busy with the aftermath at the magic ship terminal.

Sarah called out to Vane, who was standing in front of a huge windowpane, looking at his own hand with a drained expression.

"Vane, what's wrong?"

"I don't know, really."

He turned his face towards Sarah, chuckling while scratching his cheek.

As he thought about the power he had used in the previous battle and kept Ren in mind...

"I wonder if I can catch up with Ren a little."

"...Yes, I'm sure."

In a corner of the bustling magic ship terminal, the young boy and girl felt a sense of accomplishment.

◇ ◇ ◇ ◇

The battlefield was no longer the cape; it was now over the sea.

Although it might seem foolish from the perspective of buying time, Ren couldn't ignore the young adventurers hiding in the rocks, trembling. Therefore, he descended into the sea.

Summoning the Great Tree Magic Sword, he created several wooden platforms on the water's surface.

"Hurry, run!"

He called out loudly, letting the trembling individuals escape.

But now, he had to buy some time again. However, Ren didn't mind and immersed himself in the battle just like before. The slightly strange feeling in handling his cloak had become familiar with time... As he grew accustomed to it, his proficiency with the cloak improved dramatically, and his strength as a hard swordsman increased.

A "phon" sound resonated from Ren's body... from his cloak.

"---------!』

Regardless of the wooden platforms, his opponent was a sea creature.

Utilizing its overwhelming advantage in the battlefield, it also used water magic...

"GAAAOOOOH!"

And, taking advantage of its massive body, it could even ram into things.

Ren swiftly dodged on the wooden platforms and fought with the Mithril Magic Sword.

It was a new, enhanced form of the Messenger of the Giant God, Wadatsumi, that Ren was not familiar with.

Fwosh! A powerful gust of wind followed the charge of the Giant God's messenger, Wadatsumi, but fearlessly fighting back, Ren managed to inflict wounds on the opponent's body.

The massive body of the Giant God's envoy, Wadatsumi, now bore several deep cuts.

Gradually being cornered, Wadatsumi, driven by instinct, considered the option to flee.

But it was impossible.

Unlike the beginning of the battle, there was no sign of escape.

Appealing to Wadatsumi's survival instincts, it fought relentlessly.

Like thrusting its twisted horns, Wadatsumi charged headlong at Ren.

"Fwah...! It's quite fast!"

Ren couldn't completely evade and took the massive body head-on. His body was pushed on the sea surface in the opposite direction, away from the land.

With seawater hitting his back, he resisted the pressing force.

Before him were the creature's forehead and its two terrifying horns on the left and right.

He pressed the Mithril Magic Sword against its forehead, but the unstoppable momentum due to its overwhelming size didn't stop.

(...This is!)

The solitary island located offshore and the half-destroyed, ancient shrine.

With Ren still holding off its charge, the Messenger of the Giant God, Wadatsumi, was aiming straight for the solitary island. It seemed intent on pressing Ren against the island and crushing him.

As the shore approached after a long time, Ren gritted his teeth...

The moment his feet touched the sandy beach of the solitary island, he put all his strength into the Mithril Magic Sword.

Even on the sandy beach, he could exert force with his feet.

"Goooooh!?"

The creature lost balance due to Ren's sudden move.

Rather than rolling over the land, its head collided with the sandy beach of the island. The sandy beach crumbled, gouged, and was eroded by the sea.

Despite that, it didn't stop, using water magic while leaping from the sea's surface and charging at Ren repeatedly.

Evading agilely on the wooden platforms, Ren fought with the Mithril Magic Sword.

The dimly bluish gleaming blade of the Mithril Magic Sword left shallow but numerous wounds on the creature's massive body.

Then, the Messenger of the Giant God, Wadatsumi, distanced itself from Ren again, now wrapped in a water armor all over its body.

A more intense attack, a desperate attack, was about to be launched.

During a brief respite...

"...It shouldn't be able to use such a technique..."

It was already a given, an obvious abnormality.

It was certain that the Messenger of the Giant God, Wadatsumi, had been strengthened somehow. However, Ren didn't dwell on it too much and regulated his breathing.

The state of his cloak was changing once again.

Once again, a calm sound resonated from his body.

Now, the pretext of buying time was no longer in his mind.

What Ren envisioned now was to immerse his whole body in this feeling.

"I don't really understand it... but it's not bad."

Upon hearing this, the Messenger of the Giant God, Wadatsumi, charged.

The charge and water magic attacks, now wrapped in a water armor, were more ferocious than ever.

The shrine in the center of the solitary island had already been aging, and now it was further damaged by the relentless attacks launched by the Messenger of the Giant God, Wadatsumi.

(...It's fine. I can fight as I imagine.)

Ren was confident that there would be no impact on Eupheim in this place.

However, when he looked at the shrine standing on the small hill in the center of the solitary island, he lowered his eyes slightly.

Sorry to this ordinary shrine, smaller than a typical house...

Feeling sorry but knowing he had to fight, he took a deep breath.

"AAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH! 』

A roar resembling a scream echoed throughout the entire sea area, marking a literal life-or-death attack.

The water armor covering the Messenger of the Giant God, Wadatsumi, became even thicker, its surface violently rippling.

Large and vigorous whirlpools formed in the surrounding sea, and rough waves encircled the island.

Water columns emerged on the sea's surface with the power to pierce the sky, aiming for the island like whips.

However, at this moment, the outcome had already been decided. Ren pointed the Mithril Magic Sword straight at the approaching Messenger of the Giant God, Wadatsumi.

Especially, unlike before, a notably loud sound resounded. It was a gentle sound akin to the tone of a flute emanating from Ren's body.

◇ ◇ ◇ ◇

It didn't take long for them to ride their horses back to the cape.

Why did they return at such a critical time? It was incredibly foolish to do so after Ren had created the opportunity for them.

Normally, Estelle would think so too, but she and Edgar had both said that there was no need to worry anymore. That's why the group rode their horses with doubts in their minds.

As they did, they witnessed the Messenger of the Giant God, Wadatsumi, causing havoc offshore.

Soon after, they witnessed the creature preparing to launch a deadly attack.

Even so, Estelle remained calm. Fiona and the others couldn't help but worry when they saw Ren fighting over there.

"I won't interfere with Ren."

Estelle got off her horse and stood on the cape where the residual effects of Breath still lingered.

Edgar did the same, dismounting his horse and folding his arms while gazing at the solitary island.

"Estelle-sama!"

Seeing Fiona's worried expression, Estelle gently patted the girl's head while still looking at the island.

"Can you hear this sound?"

"...I occasionally hear a flute-like sound. Is that what you mean?"

That's right.

Edgar seemed to know it too, and he nodded slightly, leaving the continuation to Estelle, keeping his mouth shut while continuing to gaze at the solitary island.

"This sound was explained by a researcher from long ago."

It was something that happened more than a hundred years ago.

"When cloaking technique reaches a certain level of proficiency, it no longer advances beyond that point, reaching a point where it doesn't burden the body too much. It's a halt in evolution. However, it is important for those abilities to become easy to use based on one's own will..."

Estelle glanced sideways at Edgar.

Edgar nodded in agreement.

"The user's body adapts to the new cloak. The external membrane of magic power and the internal magic power resonate with each other to adapt. You might struggle with handling the cloak temporarily, but it's only for a short time."

"That's right. You'll struggle until you get used to it, but it won't take long."

Estelle continued.

"The flute-like sound you hear is caused by the resonance of cloak."

For the Lion Sanctuary's director, it was so exciting that her heart was ringing with joy.

"It sounds just like a flute. The sound rides the wind and carries the magic power in the air, reaching far away."

It sounded louder than the roar created by the waves generated by the Messenger of the Giant God, Wadatsumi, offshore.

It was a beautiful, gospel-like sound.

"From ancient times, this sound has been praised with a certain expression."

"A certain expression... you mean?"

"Umu, there's a special way to describe it."

What was the trigger, Ren......

The Strongest Knight of Leomel laughs.

As they gazed at the offshore island while feeling the pressure and sway, and the remnants of wind and water magic...

Everyone listened attentively to her voice, eager to hear the name of this phenomenon that had been passed down since ancient times.

And then...

"The sword saint sings."

The resonating sound came to a stop.

◇ ◇ ◇ ◇

After the battle with the Sword Demon, Ren didn't gain a new magic sword.

However, he realized that he had gained a new combat technique not long after the battle had ended.

The ground of the solitary island was filled with scattered boulders and debris that were floating and suspended in mid-air.

At the center of this mysterious scene, a boy stood on a single rock.

"Let's do this."

It boiled. More than he had ever experienced before.

Jet-black lightning, silver flashes.

A dense magic space spread around Ren.

The power that cornered Ren and Licia to the brink of death during Roses Caitas—the Sword Demon's technique.

Ren stabbed the Mithril Magic Sword into the ground.

Its destructive power and the amount of magic power consumed made him hesitate to use it seriously, but...

"The Messenger of the Giant God, Wadatsumi!"

The torrent of power Ren created was all released towards the sea.

Resembling thunder, it mowed down the sea, heading for the Messenger of the Giant God, Wadatsumi.

The water armor, along with all the power that violently raged the surrounding sea, was instantly obliterated.

What remained was the naked Messenger of the Giant God, Wadatsumi, a wounded monster.

With its crimson eyes gleaming, it continued to stare at Ren while swimming. It no longer cared about anything other than taking this little boy's life, even if it meant dying in the process.

"OOOOOOOH!"

The Messenger of the Giant God, Wadatsumi, which was obsessed with that single purpose, roared.

"This will end it!"

After using the technique learned from the Sword Demon...

The Mithril Magic Sword emitted jet-black lightning and silver flashes simultaneously.

Without fleeing, without hesitation, Ren faced it head-on.

" Authority Sword" - a power that only the Sword Saint, a master swordsman, can wield.

When Estelle had used it before, she had mentioned that the technique's nature changed depending on the user.

Ren couldn't fully grasp his nature at this moment, but that didn't matter.

He focused only on putting an end to this battle...

While the viscount had already forced the weakened monster into retreat, Ren was now facing the further empowered creature all by himself...

"Haahhhhh!"

Swinging the Mithril Magic Sword, black and silver undulations rippled.

The waves of those undulations enshrouded Ren, and the pressure of the sword energy ran through the entire body of the advancing Messenger of the Giant God, Wadatsumi.

"......"

The creature's final vision reflected the figure of the young Sword Saint.

"It's my victory."

There was a cracking sound deep within the forehead of the Messenger of the Giant God, Wadatsumi, and then its eyelids closed.

The massive body collapsed, causing the ground to shake.

Particles of light generated from its remains floated in the air and were absorbed into Ren's wristband.

・Water Magic Sword (Level 1: 1/1)

It was the power dropped by the Water Goddess.

The battle ended here, marking the conclusion of the birth of the Sword Saint.

And thus, once again, it brought a new magic sword to him.

  1. The least interesting fight in this novel where there’s no real danger , even though the enemy is strengthened but still the same kind of monster that vane’s party ( weaklings ) managed to defeat , I can say that this was the worst volume of this wn, and where’s is the fucking trigger to become a sword saint when your enemy is only stronger than you a little? And Is this the fucking trigger that kept us waiting for two volume to see ren become a sword saint ? What a disappointment, although I’m a little happy that he acquired a new magic sword
