Just another Isekai Lover~

Chapter 36: The Next Adventure

For an orphan like me, a family name was bestowed upon me. It seems to be "Dreadnought." I heard the origin from Saran, but it was so shocking that I completely forgot.

Saran arranged for the family name, stating that it was unseemly for the leader of the national party and the guild master not to have one. The approval for this came through due to the success in subduing the scarred beast.

"Hmm."

"What are you groaning about, Jurg?"

Returning to my brand new home, I was groaning when Rolo approached me. This house seems to be designed as the base for "Mercia," so Rolo and Fimia often come in. Well, each of us have our private rooms, so it's only natural.

"I got a family name."

"Yeah, Saran mentioned it. Something about naming it after a dragon that resides in the Northern Sea."

"Yeah, Dreadnought. It sounds a bit too grand."

"The sound suits you, though."

Smiling, Rolo handed me a cup with steam rising from it. It's not the wooden one we use in the village; it's a white porcelain cup.

"I made tea. Let's take a break. If you think too hard, you might get a fever again."

"Forget about the mistakes from my childhood."

"It's okay. We're childhood friends, after all. I guess it's my privilege."

Returning Rolo's smile with a wry one, we both have past failures we don't want others to know about. It may be a little too late to say it now.

"By the way, Rolo, are you going to become the mayor of the new city?"

"No. With the significant development in Malhas, they're sending an administrator to oversee the entire city."

"Then you're coming with me...! I'll have you work as my right-hand man."

"Well, it won't be the same as before."

Looking at it now, it's true.

“However, the Adventurer's Guild has a lot of smart people, right? Is there anything we can do?"

"Let's be happy that our work has become easier. At least we're done with the chores, right?"

It's hard to imagine the guild master personally pinning request sheets on the bulletin board. Even those sheets and the role of communicating would be handled by Kati’s subordinates.

In other words, my job might not be much. Thinking about it that way, I felt a little relieved.

"Anyway, once I'm used to it, I want to head to the depths again."

"Yeah, that's a good idea. It might be better if we conduct on-site investigations ourselves."

"Even if we crushed the scarred beast, abnormalities are still abnormalities."

Assuming the unexplored area is a type of dungeon, there are too many monsters. It's necessary to investigate where such a large number is coming from for future crisis management.

"Fimia and Saran will be left behind; they seem busy."

"Especially Fimia, unless we inform her, she might sulk again."

"Is that so?"

"She's an adventurer, after all."

Certainly, considering a preliminary survey, it might be a good idea to at least inform her. At worst, if she wants to come along, we can just put up with her.

However, Fimia is quite busy. The church in the center of the city has finally been completed, and priests who wish to migrate have gathered from various places. Since the church also functions as a refuge for ordinary citizens in times of crisis, it's crucial to pay attention to its operation and personnel allocation.

Not all priests are pure, especially those who come to places like pioneer cities may have hidden motives or be lured by money. Fimia, trusted by the church headquarters as the "Saint," is personally interviewing each one, sometimes turning them away.

From an outsider's perspective, she seems quite tired, making it difficult to casually say, "Let's go on an adventure!"

"I'm going to see Saran. Can you go to Fimia's place for me?"

"Why do I have to..."

“I thought you were having a hard time seeing Saran right now.”

Although I thought Rolo would be suitable for Fimia's case, being told that made me think it might be true. He dares to do as he pleases, and I'm starting to get a little annoyed.

"Okay please."

"Sure. Say hi to Fimia for me too."

Saying that, Rolo stood up and left while fluttering his hands. As usual, I keep making him worry. I need to become a bit more mature.

"Okay… I’ll go too."

Saying that to myself, I stood up and headed slowly towards the church.

"Jurg! What brings you here today?"

Entering the church, Fimia rushed over to greet me. She seems a bit tired, but not as much as Saran, which is a relief.

"Yeah, just a bit. What about you? Do you have time?"

"Well, I do. It’s rare for you to ask about my schedule... something must be wrong, right?"

“That's a little too much, don't you think? ......”

Smiling wryly, I laughed while Fimia chuckled.

Looking at her like this, I'm glad I can see her face. I thought she might still be concerned about that courage-boosting magic incident.

"I was thinking that once my body is back in decent shape, I'd like to go for an in-depth on-site investigation. I came to hear about your plans. It's just a regular investigation, no need to push yourself—"

"I'll go."

Before I could finish my sentence, Fimia nodded and replied. It was a bit surprising, but if she's willing to go, then it's fine.

"I see. Well, let's plan it out later."

"Yes. After I finish my duties today, I'll come to your place."

I lightly touch Fimia's head as she smiles happily.

"It might be tough, but don't overexert yourself. If anything happens, rely on Rolo or me. We're comrades, after all."

"Thank you, Jurg. I'll count on you when the time comes."

"Sure."

Having conveyed what needed to be said, I waved lightly and turned on my heel. I need to inform Kati about our upcoming investigation.

"Oh, by the way."

Turning back slightly, I asked Fimia.

"What do you want for dinner tonight? I'll get something on my way back."

"Anything is fine. I love anything you cook."

"Got it. See you in the evening then."

Leaving the church this time, I headed toward Kati, who was still working in the temporary residence.
