Just another Isekai Lover~

Chapter 23: Hands-on Teacher

With slight heat lingering in the air, I pulled my hair over my ears and began to construct the next magic circle.

Unlike the previous magic circle that collected water droplets, I had used this one several times before, so it was completed quickly.

Without any hesitation, I shot the freshly made magic circle at Dr. Cyrus.

Then a warm breeze shot out of the ──── purple magic circle.

“Whoa…!”

The turquoise haired man was startled by the strong wind and managed to open his eyes, but he wasn’t threatened by it.

Rather, he opened his hand and caught the wind.

I thought to myself, “This guy is very adaptable…” as he stopped the wind just in time.

This is a magic circle that I developed, a combination of wind and fire.

I often use it to dry my hair. Well, this time I increased the power a little because he was soaking wet from head to toe…

“How is it? Are you still cold?”

“No! I’m not cold at all! Thank you!”

Silas sensei nodded with a smile on his face and looked to be impressed.

But he didn’t ask about the details of the magic circle, as if it wasn’t something that would draw his interest…

As for His Highness Grayson, he seemed to be a little curious as he glanced at us.

I’ll tell His Highness about it later as a thank you for all he has done for me.

There may not be a situation where His Highness, with short hair, will use it…but it’s not a bad thing to learn, right?

“Miss Charlotte’s magic is amazing. By the way, can you make a magic circle for fire extinguishing?”

The words “magic circle for fire extinguishing” make me instinctively tilt my head.

I thought for a moment that it was a joke by Dr. Cyrus, but his facial expression was very serious.

“I can make a magic circle, but it won’t work even if you use the magic circle I made right?”

“I know that much. I just want one for copying.”

“For copying, why bother… isn’t it faster to build a magic circle by yourself?”

It’s not that difficult to build a magic circle for fire extinguishing, anyone with a basic knowledge of magic can build one.

Speaking of not understanding the point of copying, Silas sensei had a stern look on his face.

“Does Miss Charlotte think I look like the kind of person that can build a magic circle?”

“What? Can’t you do it?”

“Of course, I can’t! I don’t remember the magic circle laws or magic characters. What makes you think I can?”

With a puzzled look on my face, I finally held my head in my arms.

“You’re a teacher at Frügel Academy, aren’t you?” I struggled to hold back those words…

He’s not interested in anything but plants, but what the heck? I’ve never seen a teacher who can’t even remember the basics of magic! Isn’t your knowledge bias too much?! No, that’s just like Silas sensei…

“Can I ask for a magic circle to extinguish the fire?”

“…… That’s fine, but what are you going to use it for?”

Without knowing my conflicts, I sigh inwardly to the beautiful turquoise haired man, who comes out with an outstretched hand saying “Give me”.

I dropped my gaze on his palm and built a magic circle with magic threads as Silas sensei answered.

“Actually, I’m thinking of experimenting on the flame spirit plant today. I’m thinking of trying to see if the human body ignition phenomenon really occurs.”

“What!? Don’t tell me you’re planning to eat that flame spirit plant!”

I stopped my hand involuntarily, and when I raised my head, the teacher shook his head saying, “No, no, no.”

“I’m not the one who’s going to eat it. I’m thinking of feeding it to snails whose main diet is grass. As much as I’d like to try it myself, I won’t be able to do my research if I die.”

“If you won’t die, would you eat it?” I pushed the question deep into the back of my mind and resumed the construction of the magic circle for the time being.

As the multiple threads transformed into letters and symbols, I pondered the eccentricities of Silas sensei.

I couldn’t help but let out a sigh at his ideas, which an ordinary person could never understand.

“Well, for now, this is a magic circle for extinguishing a fire. I think it will be gone in an hour or so, so if you want to copy it, please do it soon.”

“I’m grateful, Miss Charlotte!”

I passed the purple magic circle as it is to Silas sensei who received it with a smile.

“Now you can experiment without hesitation!” I glanced at the thief that had fainted.

There was no sign of him waking up yet, but to be honest, it could happen at any time.

If possible, I wanted to hand him over to the knights before he woke up.

“Um, Silas sensei. If you’ll excuse us, we have to go to…”

“Well, wait a minute. Let me at least thank you.”

The beautiful turquoise haired man who had intentionally interrupted me narrowed his eyes and drew an arc of his well-shaped lips.

It’s a little different from the usual smile, and I couldn’t help but hold my tongue.

As I waited for his next words in silence, Silas sensei approached my face with a potted flame spirit plant and a magic circle for extinguishing a fire.

Even though I know he’s a plant nerd, his face is… no, just his face is good looking, so I was unconsciously nervous.

As my cheeks flushed slightly, Silas sensei let out a chuckle.

“This was decided at the staff meeting yesterday, but it seems that we will soon be testing Miss Charlotte’s ability.”

“What!?”

I opened my eyes to what I was told.

His Highness Grayson also seemed to have unexpectedly dropped the man in a turban he carried on his shoulder.

“I don’t care about Miss Charlotte’s ability, but it seems that other teachers do. It was often talked about that your result in the entrance examination didn’t seem to match up with your performance in class. So I said, ‘Why don’t we have a black-and-white test?’ So that’s it. Therefore, the ability test…”

It was true that my grades were increasing at an alarming rate, and I could be suspected of cheating. I tried to win the teachers’ trust little by little through my classes, but…it seems that such a roundabout way is no good.

“I’m not so sure about it but I don’t want to be suspected of cheating forever, so I’ll take it!”

I clenched my fists tightly and steeled myself, but I was worried.

“What should I do if I can’t pass?”

Rather than worrying, “I will definitely pass!”  I told myself as the sense of mission was stronger.

“Thank you for sharing this useful information with me, but is it really okay to share it with me? Won’t they say something about confidentiality?”

“There is no problem as long as you don’t get caught. Besides, I only told you about the existence of the test. If you don’t know what it says, there’s no way to deal with it. It won’t have much effect on the test itself.”

Silas sensei shrugged his shoulders as he said this without a hint of regret.

He was right in a way, although I wondered if that was a good idea.

It’s not like an entrance exam where the scope of the test is set, so there is no way to prepare or review.

Therefore, I have no choice but to face the test with my might.

Well, it would still be advantageous for me if I knew in advance.

It helps me prepare mentally.

If I start the test before I’m ready for it mentally, I might not be able to give it my all.

And if I fail the test, it’s not good for me.

“As long as I am mentally prepared, I will be fine. I will pass the test.”

I smiled triumphantly and the chrysolite green eyes, visible through the lenses, narrowed in amusement.

“Hmmm. That’s what I’m talking about. I’m really looking forward to seeing how you do on the test.”

I nodded vigorously to the turquoise haired man who was putting pressure on me in the name of expectation,

“Hai!”

I continued to nod vigorously.
