Chapter 22: A Sudden Request

“…Could it be someone from the Adventurers’ Guild? Kakeru and Aoi, wait in that room over there.”

“Got it.”

We had just been about to head to the market when an unexpected visitor arrived.

Yuuka was an S-rank adventurer, and apparently, when there were urgent requests or emergencies, guild staff would come directly to inform her.

Following Yuuka’s suggestion, Aoi and I temporarily waited in the room beside the entrance.

“Hey, sorry for suddenly barging all the way to your mansion.”

When Yuuka welcomed the visitor, a loud voice echoed throughout the mansion.

The man seemed to have an incredibly loud natural speaking voice. It was almost painful to listen to.

“…For the Adventurers’ Guild Master to come here personally, it must be something extremely urgent, right?”

I could hear Yuuka’s quiet voice afterward.

So the owner of that loud voice really was the Adventurers’ Guild Master. What would personally bring an adventurer’s guild master all the way from the guild?

The Adventurers’ Guild Master was the highest-ranking person responsible for managing the adventurer branch in that city.

Just as Yuuka said, for someone that important to come personally, it must have been a very urgent matter.

“Yeah, you could say it’s an urgent request, but…”

“I already informed the Adventurers’ Guild that I’m planning to take a break from adventuring for a while and live a quiet life. If possible, couldn’t you assign it to another adventurer?”

“I know that’s what you said, but this time it’s a request specifically directed at Yuuka, an S-rank adventurer. And honestly, I don’t understand the request myself at all. The contents of the request are apparently something only I’m allowed to see, and I was told to personally deliver it to you. On top of that, the person making the request is… well, how in the world did you meet them?”

Even though I was secretly listening from the room next door, I had to admit I didn’t really understand what was going on either. The entire conversation was vague. Was it really okay for me to eavesdrop when the matter seemed to have nothing to do with me?

At the very least, since this person was important enough to move the Adventurers’ Guild Master himself, it must have been a request from someone extremely influential or wealthy.

Apparently, S-rank adventurers often received personal requests from people like that.

“…I have absolutely no idea who it could be. Who’s the client?”

“It’s the Fourth Prince of the Orion Kingdom, Rain Orion-sama. This is the first time we’ve ever received a request from royalty living in the capital.”

A prince!?

There were many countries with monarchies in this world, and the Orion Kingdom where we currently lived was one of them.

To think that Yuuka would receive a request from royalty…

She really was incredible.

“…The Fourth Prince. I’ve never met him even once. Are you sure this request is really meant for me?”

“Yes, it is. I was the only one who was allowed to check the contents of the request, but even I couldn’t make sense of it. …There’s one thing I want to ask, though. Is the [Sage], Aoi-dono, here?”

“!?”

Yuuka was shocked when Aoi’s name suddenly came up.

I looked toward Aoi beside me, and she shook her head.

Apparently, she had no idea why the Adventurers’ Guild Master knew she was here either.

She had mentioned that she flew here using flight magic, so perhaps someone had seen her?

“So she really is here. Hmm… In that case, this must be…”

“Why does the Guild Master know that Aoi is here?”

“I didn’t know either, but it was written in the request. Anyway, I’ll tell you the beginning of the request from Fourth Prince Rain-sama.”

“‘To the S-rank adventurer Yuuka-dono, the Sage Aoi-dono, and one more Blessed One. I ask that you come to the royal capital and grant my wish.’”

“…What exactly does this mean?”

The three of us—Yuuka, Aoi, and I—were gathered in the mansion’s living room.

After that, the Guild Master handed Yuuka the letter containing the Fourth Prince’s request and left.

The Guild Master himself apparently knew nothing about the contents of the letter. Not only did he not know about Aoi being here, but he also had no idea that another Blessed One—in other words, me—was here either.

“Under normal circumstances, the most likely explanation is that the Fourth Prince, or someone close to him, is a Blessed One and discovered Kakeru-sama’s existence through the power of their Unique Skill.”

“Yeah, I think that explanation is probably correct too.”

I had only shown my Unique Skill to these two.

Whenever I went outside the mansion, I tried to hide my appearance as much as possible.

I didn’t even have the black hair and black eyes that marked someone as a transmigrator.

And since I had only recently arrived in this city, there was no reason information about me should have leaked.

“He knew not only that I was here, but also that Aoi was here. So there’s a high possibility that he has a Unique Skill like ‘Precognitive Dreams’ or ‘Clairvoyance,’ right?”

“That’s right. Otherwise, there’s no way to explain it.”

I confirmed with Aoi, but apparently there were no spells that allowed someone to search for a specific person or see a place extremely far away.

If that was the case, then it was highly likely that this was the effect of a Blessed One’s Unique Skill.

Seriously, this other world has way too many Blessed Ones with overpowered Unique Skills…

Well, considering there are already three Blessed Ones gathered here, I guess I don’t really have the right to complain.
