Chapter 368: Piercing a Hole

Just as they were planning a diversionary attack, a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity presented itself.

The Oni Tribe launched a full-force assault on the Sorcerer’s castle.

Using the Oni Tribe’s attack as a distraction, Rest and his group charged straight toward the Sorcerer’s fortress.

To get inside, they had to break through the wall.

The castle’s structure, though made of compacted sand and stone, had been magically reinforced to a strength rivaling that of steel.

“Let’s go! We’ll smash through it!”

The first to dash forward was Valeya Catreya, the commander of the unit.

Spear in hand, he charged at the castle with the momentum of an earth dragon, driving his weapon into the outer wall.

“Nrgh…!”

A heavy, strained groan escaped him.

What had seemed like a full-powered strike only gouged the wall slightly—the fortress was unbelievably sturdy.

“Valeya, step back. I’ll use magic!”

“Don’t underestimate me! As if my spear could be stopped by something like this!”

Valeya shouted as he poured magic into his weapon.
The spearhead began to glow red-hot.

“[Explosion]!”

In the next moment, the wall where his spear struck detonated.

The combined fire and wind magic imbued in his weapon erupted, blasting apart part of the wall and creating a large opening.

The thunderous blast would have ruined any stealth mission, but thanks to Dible’s soundproofing spell, the noise likely didn’t escape outside.

“Good! Move! Get inside before the wall regenerates!”

The Sorcerer’s castle had a self-repairing enchantment. The walls were already mending themselves, so they had to hurry.

Knights, mages, and even their guide, Lowe, rushed inside, but just as Rest was about to follow, Valeya stopped him.

“Count Clover, you stay outside.”

“Huh? What do you mean?”

“In case something goes wrong, you and Lord Dible will enter from a different route. There may be traps. We’ll avoid being taken out all at once and exploit the enemy’s blind spots!”

Valeya Catrea, son of the knight commander, he wasn’t just an overprotective brother after all. Even in this chaos, he was devising a strategy to outwit their opponent.

(The Oni Tribe’s assault, then a surprise attack from the Kingdom of Iwood—and now another strike from a third direction… For the enemy, that’s a double shock.)

If it failed, it would just split their forces for nothing, but it was still worth attempting.

Rest nodded and stayed outside as the wall began sealing up again.

“Understood. Then, I’ll see you inside.”

“Rest-sama, this way.”

Rest and Dible broke off from the main force, moving independently.

From the front, the Oni Tribe attacked.
From behind, the Iwood Kingdom’s army pressed in.
And now, Rest and Dible would strike from yet another direction.

Given the situation, there was only one possible point of entry left.

“Above… We’re taking them from overhead!”

“We’ll fly there with magic. You can fly, can’t you?”

Before Rest could answer, Dible kicked off the ground and soared into the sky, rapidly gaining altitude without succumbing to gravity.

“Of course! What kind of mage can’t fly?”

Rest followed close behind.

Among mages, flight—through spells like Wind Control or Floating—was a basic measure of mastery.
Using these spells, they climbed even higher than the castle’s tallest spire.

“Well then, Rest-sama. I imagine the roof is also enchanted for defense. Can you break through it?”

“Of course! Easy!”

In fact, if the goal was simply destruction, Rest could think of more than ten methods.

For now, he decided to use his very first original spell.

“[Star-Eater].”

A black sphere appeared in Rest’s palm, a dark star capable of devouring and erasing anything it touched.

“Haaah!”

With a shout, Rest slammed the dark star into the castle roof, creating a massive circular hole.

Dible dove in first, and a moment later, Rest followed, both descending into the Sorcerer’s castle.
