Chapter 310: A Treat
“Ahhh, delicious, just delicious.”
“This is a real feast. I feel younger already.”
After the wyvern was butchered, Rest and Yuri offered the leftover meat and bones to the villagers as a thank-you.
They had already properly secured the meat meant for the banquet — frozen solid all the way to the core to prevent spoilage.
What they gifted was just scraps and bones that weren’t worth bringing back, but the villagers turned it into a hearty soup and ate it with delight.
“Mmm! The soup is really good, Rest!”
“Yeah… it’s good.”
Rest and Yuri enjoyed the soup they received from the villagers.
Yuri was all smiles, while Rest had a more conflicted expression.
He had no complaints about the soup’s flavor — but his lower half, still energized from the dragon liver, was bothering him greatly.
(So dragon species really do have invigorating effects… I need to be careful. Seriously.)
Ever since earlier, he hadn’t been able to calm down unless he leaned forward a bit.
His eyes kept being drawn to Yuri’s chest and hips more than usual, and he had to forcefully avert his gaze using sheer willpower.
(At least the regular meat doesn’t seem to have the same effect as the liver… thank goodness.)
“Thank you both so much. We don’t often get the chance to eat wyvern meat, so everyone’s very happy.”
Guide Ribery approached and bowed to the two of them.
In her hands was a dish — a meat-based one, but made with ingredients other than wyvern meat.
“This is one of our village’s traditional dishes. Sorry it’s just simple countryside food…”
“Oh, it looks tasty though.”
It was a stew of sorts.
Enticed by the savory aroma, Rest took a bite — and a distinctive gamey flavor spread through his mouth.
It was somewhat like beef, but stronger and likely divisive depending on personal taste.
Still, Rest didn’t dislike it.
“That’s an interesting flavour. Is this monster meat too?”
“No, no, it’s from the livestock we raise here in the village.”
Ribery gestured to the side.
There stood an animal that looked quite similar to a cow.
It had two horns like a bull and a similar body shape, but its fur was unusually long and shaggy.
“It’s called a Yakyuu. They’re commonly raised in these parts. We use their milk for butter and cheese, too.”
“Cheese, huh… that might pair nicely with alcohol.”
“If you’re interested, here — try some.”
Following the meat dish, Ribery served some cut cheese as well.
It tasted pretty good.
Cheese itself wasn’t unusual, so it didn’t feel especially novel, but the quality was solid.
“Hm… maybe I should try making pizza sometime…”
With the right toppings, pizza could change flavour dramatically.
Using wyvern meat as a topping might be an interesting twist.
Not just meat — seafood was a common choice too. Since inland regions didn’t usually serve seafood pizzas, it could be an unexpected and creative dish for the banquet.
“Mmm! Delicious, delicious! Rest, here, try some too!”
“Yeah, yeah, I get it, it’s good — but don’t lean in so close! Your chest is touching me!”
Yuri, eager to share the cheese, leaned in too far, and Rest quickly edged away to prevent his lower half from reacting again.
To distract himself from her dangerously close curves, he forced a serious topic.
“So, we’ve got wyvern meat. Now we just need fish and booze, huh?”
“I don’t know about fish, but if it’s alcohol, why not ask Celestine?”
“Celestine…? Why bring her up?”
Celestine Crocus — a duke’s daughter, Rest’s classmate, friend, and newly betrothed fiancée.
“She mentioned once that her dad’s a huge collector of alcohol. She even laughed about how he completely loses himself when it comes to drinks.”
“Ah… in that case, she might know a lot about rare spirits.”
It would be impolite to suddenly ask the duke himself, but Rest had no problem contacting Celestine directly.
Once they returned to the capital with the wyvern meat, he might as well pay her a visit.
“Hey, Rest! This grilled skewer is amazing too — come try it!”
“Yeah, yeah… but seriously, stay back right now!”
Yuri tried to hug him again while offering grilled meat, and Rest, desperate to keep his dignity intact, shouted while shielding his crotch with both hands.
