Chapter 206: The Worm’s Worm Becomes a Worm
Having survived the terrifying dinner, Rest found himself temporarily afflicted with some rather peculiar “side effects.”
These included: needing to walk hunched over, being unable to perform any vigorous movements with his lower body, and the constant fear that even the slightest stimulation could lead to an explosive result.
Please, don’t ask what kind of “disability” this was. Let’s just say that while letting everything go might have brought relief, carrying this burden was far too intense to bear.
“Ugh… ngh…”
“Ah, nothing beats a shower after a hard day of work! It feels amazing!”
“Valhalla, Valhalla…”
“Milady, allow me to scrub your back.”
Arlie, Ulra’s attendant said.
And then… a new trial awaited him.
Despite being out camping, the women decided to take a bath. From within the makeshift partition made of cloth, the cheerful voices of the ladies could be heard.
Rest was just outside the partition, trying his best to control his mana while enduring various temptations.
This situation had its roots in a conversation from earlier that day while they were exploring the wetlands.
“Ugh, I’m covered in mud. This is unbearable.”
Yuri complained, shaking her hands and feet in an attempt to rid herself of the sticky muck.
The mud clung stubbornly to her supple limbs, refusing to come off so easily.
“If it’s just mud, I can clean it with magic… [Cleanse].”
“Oh wow! It’s completely gone!”
Yuri exclaimed as the mud on her body vanished thanks to Rest’s magic.
This spell, which he’d found invaluable back when he was serving in the stables of the Ebern Viscount family, had been his go-to for cleaning both the stalls and himself.
“As expected of you, Rest. But still, I feel like I need a proper bath. I can’t shake the feeling of some unseen grime sticking to me.”
Yuri said, frowning.
“Ah, I get what you mean.”
Rest agreed.
While magic could remove physical dirt, some sense of discomfort seemed to linger—perhaps something psychological. Yuri’s desire for a proper bath was understandable.
“Sorry to trouble you, but could you get some water ready for me later? I want to wash up.”
“Not just water, I’ll heat it up for you. You can have a proper bath,”
Rest offered.
“A bath? Out here in the middle of the plains?”
“Yeah, I can use earth magic to make a tub and fire magic to heat the water. It’s no big deal.”
“I want to bathe too.”
Urla chimed in, joining the conversation.
It seemed baths were universally loved by women. Even Arlie, Urla’s attendant, looked on with curiosity.
“Alright, I’ll prepare a bath for you tonight. I can even set up a makeshift shower if you want.”
Rest promised, intending to pamper the ladies.
Little did he know, he would come to deeply regret these words.
Fast forward to the present, and Rest was fulfilling his promise.
Inside the makeshift bathhouse—a tent with fabric walls—three women were enjoying their bath in their natural states. Rest had prepared a tub before sunset and filled it with warm water.
“Ah, this feels so good… like I’ve been reborn.”
Yuri sighed blissfully.
“So warm… so silky.”
Urla murmured.
“Milady, here’s a shampoo hat for you.”
“Ugh… ngh…”
Outside the bathhouse, Rest stood guard.
On the other side of a single cloth wall lay paradise itself. The lively chatter and laughter of the women tickled his ears, making his “condition” worse.
Thanks to the Worm meal’s lingering effects, Rest’s “Worm” was very much “worming,” and it showed no signs of calming down.
(Why am I even here? I should just leave!)
Of course, one might question why Rest didn’t just leave the area. But he was staying put because the women had asked him to perform a specific task.
(Calm down… focus. Channel all your attention on casting the spell!)
Above the bathhouse floated a massive ball of water—no, hot water.
By manipulating the water into raindrop-sized particles and making it fall like a gentle shower, Rest had created an improvised shower system for the women.
(If I’d known it would turn out like this, I never should have said, ‘I can even set up a makeshift shower for you,’ acting all high and mighty…!)
Rest deeply regretted his thoughtless words.
If only he hadn’t made such a casual promise. If only he hadn’t raised the women’s expectations, none of this would have happened. But since he had, the women insisted he follow through, and unable to refuse, Rest was forced to use magic to create the shower.
“Focus… stay focused… I’m just a water heater. A machine that provides hot water, nothing more…”
As he chanted this mantra to himself, Yuri’s voice called out to him from beyond the tent.
“Rest, are you there?”
“What is it now?”
“Why don’t you join us? Standing out there working must be cold, right?”
“There’s no way I can do that! Urla is in there too—what are you even saying?!”
“Don’t worry. Urla doesn’t mind. Lady Arlie feels the same.”
“I’ll wash your back.”
Ulra added.
“Wh-What…!?”
Urla’s words followed Yuri’s invitation, their combined temptation nearly overwhelming. Rest’s lower half practically begged him to give in, but his iron will suppressed the desire.
“I’ll pass! I’ll come in after you’re all done…!”
“I see… what a shame.”
Yuri replied, sounding genuinely disappointed.
“Too bad…”
Echoed Ulra.
Rest could almost see the ghosts of missed opportunities samba-dancing over his head, but he managed to overcome the trial before him.
“Fine. In that case, how about I wash your back for you later?”
Yuri offered teasingly.
“I’ll pamper you.”
Added Ulra.
“Don’t!”
Rest shouted through the cloth partition at the two who refused to back down, their persistence both infuriating and dangerously tempting.
