Chapter 72: The Secret Weapon’s Power
With the away quest scheduled for the next day, Tauro spent the night in the inn’s backyard using wind from a summoned spirit to dry the plants everyone had ground up.
Spirit magic was useful at times like this, even if Tauro could only employ it at the level of everyday magic.
After making his request to the spirit, he went to sleep and let it continue drying the plants.

The sweet filling moved them all over again.
“We’ll follow you for the rest of our lives, Tauro!”
Their fervent declaration was far too intense.
Tauro politely declined, collected all the powder in his magic storage, and headed to the guild to meet Bob.
A carriage waited outside.
The client had apparently provided it.
Such treatment for a single quest was unusual and suggested both generosity and urgency.
The four adventurers quickly climbed aboard.
Momo had come to see them off.
“Tauro, please take care of Bob.”
She waved as she spoke.
“Momo, isn’t that usually said the other way around?”
Bob laughed.
“But you’re unreliable, Bob.”
“If you say that, it’s all over! Well, I’m off.”
Bob waved to her. Tauro also called, “Don’t worry,” and waved as the carriage gathered speed and rapidly left Dansas behind.
Inside, Tauro explained his plan to Bob.
“This powder works on Killer Ants?”
Bob examined the white powder Tauro handed him.
“That’s the plan. You can use wind magic, can’t you?”
“Yes, though only at the beginner level.”
“That’s enough. The three of us will scatter the powder, and then I need you to control the wind…”
Tauro began explaining his Killer Ant extermination strategy.
After half a day in the carriage, they drew close to the village.
As they passed through a broad agricultural landscape, they spotted a pitch-black mass in part of a field.
Looking closely, they realized it was a group of Killer Ants.
“They’re attacking the fields right now!”
Bob had the driver stop, and all four climbed down.
The three scattered their secret powder into the air, and Bob created a gust with wind magic.
Just as Tauro had said, the wind itself had no offensive power whatsoever.
Bob swept the powder up and drove it into the mass of Killer Ants.
To everyone’s amazement, the ants began writhing on the spot and then died.
After confirming the effect, Tauro rushed to the bodies and used magic storage to recover only the white powder.
“We’ve confirmed that it works. Let’s hurry to the village!”
The other three had been staring in shock. Tauro’s voice brought them back to themselves, and they hastily boarded the carriage and urged the driver onward.
