Chapter 413: Easy Job 

　Tauro realized that this quest would be quite difficult for a normal adventurer.

　This is because the magic storage requirement for this quest is (medium) or higher.

　Considering the amount of stuff in this warehouse, even magical tools with magic storage were allowed, there must have been many trips to and from the village to ship items to the surrounding towns and villages.

　His predecessor may have been an adventurer who specialized in these quests.

　It seemed like just the trip there and back would have been difficult.

“We’ll collect everything that’s due to be shipped out in the next few days while we still can.”

　Tauro replied, storing all of the produce that was crammed into the warehouse in one go.

　The village chief was so surprised by this that he sat down on the ground.

“H-holy cow…! You have a magic storage (large)……! The previous adventurer had (medium) magic storage, but it was still so rare and useful that we had him under exclusive contract with us for a long time. Do you guys want to make an exclusive contract with us?”

　The village chief offered us a contract even though he hadn’t yet seen how we did the job.

　Then a man who appeared to be the son of the village chief arrived.

“Dad, are these new adventurers? Wait… there’s nothing in the warehouse! Could it be that two of these people have magic storage (medium) or higher?”

　The son probably thought that there was no way that anyone could have more than Magic Storage (Large), so he interpreted it in the more likely way.

“…That’s not it. It seems that this adventurer has a large magic storage.”

“R-Really?! –Would you guys please sign an exclusive contract with us?!”

　He made the same offer, they really were father and son in this area.

“Now now, let’s not be so hasty, let’s see how the work is first, shall we?”

　It was a strange development that Tauro, who is was the one being hired, ends up having to calm him down.

“No, I’ve been looking for a long time for someone with a large magic storage unit, but I’ve never come across one! This must be God’s will. How can I not try to get you to sign a contract here!”

　The village chief stands up and takes Tauro’s hand.

“If you want, we can get you a house in this village. Yes, it wouldn’t be a bad idea to have you marry a girl of your choice from this village and settle down! What do you think? How about you quit being an adventurer and come work for us exclusively?”

　The village chief’s eyes were serious.

　And his son behind him is also serious.

　Tauro felt pressured by the atmosphere between them, but he declined.

“We have our own plans, so we will decline the exclusive contract…”

　Tauro was confused by the strange turn of events, turning  it down before the job had even begun.*

“I see ……, that’s too bad ……. Well, please think about it while you work. Son, the customers from the towns and the villages are waiting for you. Get going as soon as you can.”

“Oh, oh! Yes, yes, yes, yes. Now, you guys, get on the wagon. I want to make a quick stop at a nearby village and quickly deliver to any delayed shipments.”

　The son pushed Tauro and his party into the carriage that had been prepared, and he himself acted as the coachman as the carriage departed.

“Things are unfolding very quickly.”

　Ankh blurted out, exasperated.

“I’m sorry. Recently, there have been delays in shipments due to a labor shortage, which has caused inconvenience to several places. We not only ship out large quantities of agricultural products, but also transports goods that are being shipped from other towns and villages, so if we don’t move, the logistics of each town and village will come to a standstill.”

　The village chief’s son, who was acting as the driver, did not miss Ankh’s complaint and apologized.

“I see. It’s true that if there was someone with a magic storage (medium), everyone would rely on them.”

　Tauro understood the situation in the village and showed understanding.

“Magic storage has the great advantage of being able to transport produce while keeping it fresh, so it’s very useful.”

　The village chief’s son whipped his horse while explaining to Tauro and the others behind him.

“I understand how you feel. I also find the magic storage very useful as it allows me to eat freshly made pork cutlets whenever I want.”

　Ragune showed understanding towards the village chief’s son.

“Miss can use magic storage, too!? That’s amazing! Will you really sign a contract with us?”

　The son of the village chief, forgetting he was the driver, turned around and insisted on signing an exclusive contract with Tauro and his party.

“It’s dangerous, so please look forward!”

　Tauro chuckled and warned the village chief’s son.

“When this quest is over, I will have a proposal for you, and you will have to accept it.”

　Tauro said meaningfully.

“A proposal? Do you have a better idea?”

“That’s about it. For now, let’s focus on our work so we can make up for lost time.”

　Tauro replied, and left the village chief’s son to focus on the driver’s duties.

　Towards evening we arrived at a fairly large village nearby.

“Oh, isn’t that Garde from Marfa Village? I thought you were going to be late this time?”

　As the carriage proceeded into the village, the villagers in the village  called out to the village chief’s son, Garde.

“Yeah, we found a new magic storage holder. I want to check out the others all at once, so I came early.”

“That’s good to hear! Then, please bring the usual items in the usual quantities to the village chief’s house.”

“All right. I’ll be staying here tonight, so please keep a room available at the inn.”

　Garde was engaged in his usual business with the usual residents.

　When they arrived at the village chief’s house, at Garde’s instruction, Tauro brought out a large amount of agricultural produce from the magic storage in front of the house.

“…Just the same as always. Thank you for your hard work. —By the way, Garde. I’d like to have some of our village’s eggs processed somewhere else again. Is that okay?”

　The chief begins to discuss the deal with Garde.

“The usual? I understand. The price will be the usual price, okay?”

“Yes, thank you very much.”

　That was the end of the deal.

　After receiving the money for the shipment from the village chief, they deposit it in Tauro’s magic storage also.

　This seems to be the main task of this quest.

　Tauro and his companions’ mission this time was to guard one carriage and its driver, Garde, who was also the village chief’s son, as well as manage the transportation of the goods and money.
