Chapter 131: Divine Archer
　The day finally came for Tauro’s party to leave O’Circus.
　Leada looked reluctant to depart, but they couldn’t remain indefinitely.
　To a merchant, the city was a treasure trove of information. No matter how long she stayed, she would always discover more that she wanted to investigate.
　Shin and Rumeya had also grown fond of O’Circus and promised themselves that they would return someday.
　Once everyone had boarded the carriage, the port city slowly receded behind them.
　They could have chosen a different route home, but decided to retrace their outward journey because Tauro had promised to visit the mountain village.
　Reaching the mountain pass would take several days.
　Whenever he had spare time during the journey, Tauro experimented with his new ability, [Divine Archer].
　He gradually realized that it applied corrections directly to his basic physical attributes.
　His strength and agility had clearly increased, and his dexterity appeared to have improved as well.
　The dexterity increase was difficult to notice because the correction provided by [Precision] was already enormous. The changes to strength and agility, however, were unmistakable.
　Even without the Angus short sword, which improved his agility while equipped, Tauro could move far faster than an ordinary child. The unfamiliar lightness of his movements was almost uncomfortable.
　His previously deficient strength had also improved. Drawing a bow now felt distinctly easier.
　More surprisingly, when Tauro used [True Eye] to survey his surroundings, he discovered that the distance he could see clearly had increased.
　Even with his unaided eyes, he could now see clearly throughout the effective range of his bow.
　Other adventurers had told him about a similar skill called [Hawkeye], which made distant objects appear as though viewed through a telescope.
　Tauro’s ability didn’t reach as far as [Hawkeye]. Instead, its range appeared linked to the distance at which he could shoot an arrow. Nevertheless, his useful field of vision was far greater than before.
　Naturally, it didn’t allow him to see through walls or other obstacles. The expanded range was therefore most useful from an elevated position with an unobstructed view.
　Tauro thoroughly enjoyed testing the ability and spent the journey to the pass absorbed in his discoveries.
　Aeris noticed that he was experimenting with something, although at first glance he merely appeared to be practicing archery with unusual enthusiasm.
　After watching more carefully, she concluded that he had acquired a bow-related ability.
　Until then, Tauro had mainly relied on the Bow of Artemis to launch powerful, straight shots. Now he could bend an arrow’s path and strike targets hidden behind obstacles.
“What new bow ability did you acquire this time?”
　Aeris finally asked.
“…You noticed?”
　Tauro had no reason to conceal it, so he told her about [Divine Archer].
“That’s incredible! I’ve never heard of it, but an ability that provides several different corrections must be extremely special.”
　Aeris was astonished by how powerful it sounded.
　Tauro suspected that he had acquired it only because he already possessed both [Precision] and the Bow of Artemis. Under normal circumstances, reaching the required standard would probably have been impossible.
　It had happened almost by accident, but the ability compensated for the lack of strength that had always troubled him.
　Until now, Tauro had been forced to work around that weakness whenever he fought. With [Divine Archer], he could approach combat in new ways.

　Unlike the Angus short sword’s bonus, it remained active even when the weapon wasn’t equipped. When Tauro did wield the sword, the two corrections combined and made him faster still.
　His stamina, however, remained that of a child. If he became carried away and moved at full speed, he quickly exhausted himself.
“I can move so easily!”
“Kabaddi, kabaddi, kabaddi…”
　Delighted, Tauro darted rapidly from side to side while imitating a minor sport from his previous life.
　Aeris watched the strange display with open concern.
“Are you quite all right?”
　Soon afterward, the party entered the mountain pass.
　As the slope steepened, Tauro and the other members of Black-Gold Wings climbed out of the carriage and continued on foot.
　They eventually noticed a person watching from far ahead.
　The lookout waved. When the party waved back, he jumped several times in obvious delight, then turned and ran away.
　He was probably from the mountain village and had gone to announce their arrival.
　The villagers must have been awaiting them eagerly enough to post a lookout.
　Tauro understood their excitement, but couldn’t help wondering whether the man might have been more useful if he had waited and guided them along the mountain path.
