Chapter 445: Difficulties in Handling

After catching up to the ‘Saint,’ Tauro attempted to stop her.

“Excuse me, but what are you planning to do now?”

This seemed like a reasonable question.

That should definitely make her stop.

“Well, I came here for sightseeing. This country is bigger than my home in the Kingdom of Luwan, you know? I’ve heard there are many things here that we don’t have there. I came to this country because I wanted to see those things and fulfill the king’s request,” the ‘Saint’ explained as she continued to walk away from the palace without stopping at all.

While Tauro failed to stop her, he did gain some valuable information.

It seems that this ‘Saint’ is acting independently of the Kingdom of Luwan’s intentions.

No, she may know that she is being used, but it is highly likely that she is making the most of her value as a ‘Saint.’

“Now that I know you are the ‘Saint,’ although I don’t want to, I must ensure your safety or my head will be on the line. Could we please go to my comrades first?” Tauro stated, knowing he could no longer afford to take risks.

If anything were to happen to the ‘Saint,’ it could escalate into an international incident.

Thus, he had to come up with all sorts of reasons to protect her.

“Companions? Who are you? You first need to tell me your name,” the ‘Saint’ commanded, maintaining her haughty demeanor.

Thinking that revealing his name would complicate things, Tauro realized he might not be able to escape at this point.

After all, in a few days, he would likely become part of the ‘Saint’s’ entourage on Prince Flue’s recommendation.

He had no choice but to brace himself.

“…I’m Tauro. Tauro Graundewald. I’m 14 years old (today).”

“14 years old? You’re pretty mature for your age, huh? —I’ll overlook the rudeness of not introducing yourself earlier. I am Matilda, the ‘Saint’ who will bring honor to the Kingdom of Luwan! Tomorrow, I will be evaluated by the prime minister of this country and become the most famous person in the world. It’s better for you to get on my good side now,” Matilda proclaimed.

Matilda, the “Saint,” does seem to understand her own worth after all.

Surely, her abilities are up to boast as well.

But, her actions were far too reckless.

“So, Matilda, may I lead you to meet my comrades?”

“…And who exactly are these comrades? You’re not planning to kidnap me, are you?”

“I want to join my comrades to prevent that possibility. I’m an adventurer, so my companions are also adventurers,” Tauro explained.

“…Alright then. Take me to your comrades. But listen, if you try anything funny, the divine wrath of the ‘Saint’ will come crashing down on you!”

Matilda threatened, brandishing a small magic wand she had at her waist.

“I’ll do my best to ensure that doesn’t happen,”

Tauro replied, relieved, and he began to lead the ‘Saint’ back to the Graundewald residence in the royal capital.

“Hey, who are you? You say you’re an adventurer, but you live in such a large mansion,”

The “Saint” Matilda asked, stating the obvious and stopping Tauro as he was about to enter the mansion.

“This is, in fact, my home in the royal capital,” he said vaguely, ushering her inside.

“Welcome back, Tauro-sama! —Who is this guest?”

Zion, who had been waiting for Tauro’s return, came out to greet him.

“Um, this is just an acquaintance of mine, someone important, I think? Are Ragune and Ankh here?”

“?—Yes, everyone has returned,”

Zion answered and then ran off to call the two of them.

“…You’re a noble, aren’t you?” Matilda asked.

“Strictly speaking, I’m the son of a noble.”

“Well, given your attire and the fact that you come and go from the palace, of course. What about that girl just now?”

While Tauro and Matilda were talking, Zion returned with Ragune and Ankh.

“She is one of my friends. Ah, here they come,”

“Leader, did something happen? Huh? Who’s the woman over there?” Ankh asked, noticing Matilda.

“This is Matilda, the ‘Saint’ who has been making headlines lately,”

“I see, a ‘Saint.’ Well, from what I can see she still looks quite immature, but with some training, she should be able to grow,”

Ragune replied, showing no surprise at all.

“A ‘Saint’ huh? I’ve seen better. Sorry, but she doesn’t particularly stand out compared to Aeris,”

Ankh chimed in, unimpressed.

“Everyone, it’s pitiful to compare her to that one.”

Zion tried to defend her, albeit poorly.

Matilda was left speechless by their lack of astonishment at her celebrity status.

It was the first time she had encountered such a response.

“Hey, you guys! Do you realize I’m about to become the most famous person in the world, as the ‘Saint’? Do you get what that means?!”

“Is that so?”

both Ragune and Ankh asked, turning back to Tauro for confirmation.

Zion also didn’t seem to get it at all.

“Well, that’s how it is in the world. Anyway, Ragune, I want to introduce her to Aeris, so could you go and bring her over here?”

“Aeris? —okay. Let’s move to a different room,”

Ragune probably thought it would be a bad idea to open the Dimensional Corridor in front of Matilda, so she suggested they move to another location.

“Alright, miss Matilda, please wait just a moment.”

“Wait! Where are you going, leaving me behind?”

“I’m just going to bring another one of my companions, so please wait a moment,” Tauro assured, confirming again before moving with Ragune to another room.

“Are you strong Matilda-sama?” Zion asked, perhaps trying to fill the awkward silence or genuinely out of curiosity.

“Strong? I’m a ‘Saint,’ you know? I’m not some level of strength. I’m an existence that makes the world’s greatest figures bow down to seek my ‘blessing,’” Matilda said proudly with her nose in the air.”

“…I see, so Tauro went to call for Aeris because he didn’t know what to do.”

Ankh finally grasped that Tauro had decided that it would be best to leave dealing with this type of person to Aeris, the daughter of a marquis.
