Chapter 484: Julius’s Armour?

After taking a short break with tea, I decided it was time to apply the Holy Coating Agent to the armour. I handed the potion to Lionel.

“Lionel, I’m counting on you.”

“Leave it to me. It will take a little time.”

Lionel didn’t say anything more, but he looked at me and smiled.

Lionel and I had applied the Holy Coating Agent to House Heine’s armour together, so he was already familiar with the process. There was only one suit this time, and he would not need my help.

I did not expect him to make a mistake, but I remained nearby just in case. The others were evidently curious as well, because they watched his work intently.

Before long, the application was finished, and all that was left was to let it set.

“Once it dries, it will be complete. The potion’s properties will bind the coating firmly to the armour, so there is no need to worry.”

“How long will it take to dry?”

“About half a day… If you’re in a hurry, I can dry it with magic.”

A magically produced breeze, like the air from a hair dryer, should dry it fairly quickly. We were in a hurry, so I began drying the armour without waiting to be asked.

Before long, the armour began to emit a distinctive sheen. At the same time, the wind magic I was using grew weaker near its surface. The Legendary Armour was beginning to nullify magic indiscriminately.

That would also nullify healing magic… but healing magic did not exist in this world. An injured wearer could simply drink a healing potion carried in a pocket, so there was no problem. I was very glad I had made those potions.

“With this, it’s complete. Shall we give it a name?”

“Let me see… Julius’s Armour?”

“Um, I’d really prefer if you didn’t include my name…”

Princess Sophia tilted her head as she spoke. I could not tell whether she was joking or serious… Judging from her disappointed expression, she had been entirely serious. That was close. If my name were attached to it, my involvement would be obvious.

“Princess Sophia, let’s choose a name associated with the Kingdom of Raven. Using Julius’s name may not be wise.”

“Alex is right. Perhaps we could name it after an ancient hero or the blacksmith who made the original armour.”

I was not the only one surprised by Princess Sophia’s proposal. Brother Alex and Sister-in-law Daniela hurriedly offered alternatives, both of which sounded sensible. Princess Sophia appeared convinced and began considering them.

“In that case, perhaps we could use the name of the ancient hero Ark or the legendary blacksmith Rokia.”

“Then Ark’s Armour or Rokia’s Armour would work.”

“Let’s allow Sir Erwin to choose.”

We decided to leave the final name until later. It was not truly ours to choose. Princess Sophia and Sir Erwin, who would help shape the Kingdom of Raven’s future, should make the decision.

We definitely weren’t just passing the responsibility. Definitely not.

The completed armour was carried into the garden for testing. Fortunately, walls surrounded the estate, so it should not be easily visible from outside. The neighbourhood was also quiet. As long as we avoided conspicuous magic, we should be fine.

“Julius-sama, preparations are complete.”

“Good work, Lionel. Feel free to try some magic on it.”

Brother Alex and I already knew what the armour could do. Sister-in-law Daniela and Princess Sophia should be the ones to test it. They still seemed somewhat doubtful, their eyes asking anxiously whether it was truly safe.

“Then I’ll try using magic. Is that alright, Julius?”

“Please go ahead.”

Because both women hesitated, Brother Alex stepped forward. He stood a short distance from the armour, conjured a Fire Arrow and launched it.

The Fire Arrow vanished just before striking the armour. The Holy Coating Agent was functioning perfectly.

“Amazing.”

“That’s incredible. Then I’ll go next.”

Their doubts vanished at the sight. Princess Sophia stepped forward next and launched a Wind Arrow, which also disappeared before reaching the armour. Sister-in-law Daniela tried another spell, with the same result.

“Magic truly has no effect. Watching a spell disappear before it even touches the armour… I would never have believed it without seeing it myself.”

“A sufficiently powerful spell might reach the armour, but even then, it would vanish immediately afterwards.”

“With this armour, I’m certain he will be safe. It truly is Legendary Armour.”

Overcome with emotion, Princess Sophia clasped both my hands. Tears glistened in her eyes. But this was not the end. The real battle was still to come.

We returned to the table and resumed our tea, but Princess Sophia soon excused herself to arrange for Sir Erwin to be summoned.

While waiting for Sir Erwin, I considered treating several more suits of armour. Brother Alex and Sister-in-law Daniela both shook their heads. They had evidently decided that any further involvement would be dangerous.

“Julius, you’ve already done enough—teaching the antidote compounding method, restoring the Holy Sword and creating this armour. If you do anything more, people’s greed may become uncontrollable.”

“That’s right. You’ve contributed more than enough to this kingdom. Any more would be dangerous.”

“Dangerous…”

Am I already becoming someone to be watched closely? If that’s the case, I should stop providing any more support. This is not the Spencer Kingdom, after all. I mustn’t forget that.

Once I handed the armour to Sir Erwin, we should leave the Kingdom of Raven as soon as possible. Brother Alex and Sister-in-law Daniela probably thought the same.

I had intended to leave a full recovery potion with Princess Sophia as a precaution… but perhaps I should not. From this point onward, the Kingdom of Raven would have to manage matters itself.
