Chapter 355: Remedying a Lack of Exercise

The time for dance practice has arrived. Until recently, I thought it would be fine as long as I could dance decently, but after learning to dance from my sister-in-law Daniela in the royal capital, I’ve started to take it more seriously.

At social gatherings, there’s a high chance of dancing. I realized that if I can’t enjoy dancing at that time, it would be rude to my partner. That’s why everyone makes sure to practice their dancing.

“Come on, Fabienne, get closer. Lean into me.”

“Y-yes.”

Fabienne blushed and moved closer. We were almost at a distance where our chests would touch.

However, I’m not doing this out of any lecherous intent. If the distance is too far, it becomes unstable when spinning, as I’d be swung around. One shouldn’t underestimate a child’s strength.

“Julius-sama, you’ve really improved at dancing.”

“Thank you, teacher. While I was in the royal capital, I was trained hard by a strict coach…”

“Oh my.”

The teacher was surprised. Despite being from a commoner background, the teacher has risen to a position where they can instruct nobles. However, because of their commoner origins, their teaching style toward nobles is very quiet and lacks forceful authority.

Students who accept the teacher’s guidance quickly improve, but those who resist or lack motivation take a little longer to show progress.

In contrast, Alex-niisan and my sister-in-law Daniela were relentless. They taught with an undeniable force. They truly embodied the image of a strict coach. Of course, I would never say this to their faces; they’d definitely get angry.

Thanks to them, I’m now able to lead Fabienne with confidence. I’m grateful for the training I received. It was tough at the time, but now I’m thankful.

I also dance with Rosalia. She still seems to need more practice.

She doesn’t usually get much exercise. I feel like that’s not good. I need to find a way to get Rosalia to exercise. Should I teach her swordsmanship? No, that might be dangerous. Magic training… well, that doesn’t involve much movement. That wouldn’t be very effective.

“Julius-sama, is something the matter?”

Fabienne looked at me with a worried expression. Oh no, I’m making Fabienne anxious—I’m failing as her partner.

“I just feel like Rosalia isn’t getting enough exercise.”

“If Rosalia-chan is lacking in exercise, then I must be too.”

Fabienne furrowed her brow. I see, it’s the same with all young ladies, isn’t it? It’s not just Rosalia. Maybe even my mother is lacking in exercise. It seems I need to do something about all of them.

“Alright, let’s eat lunch outside. Every day will be a picnic.”

“A picnic! I’d love to go!”

Somehow, Rosalia had caught wind of it and came rushing over. Of course, Mira came flying along too. Both of them aren’t opposed to going out. On days with nice weather, I’ll suggest going somewhere.

The knights might get busy, but if it’s just a picnic, they should be able to relax and go along with it. As long as it’s not every day, it should be fine.

Once the dance practice was over, I went straight to talk to my mother. It seemed like both of them were fully on board with the idea, so the only one left to ask was my mother. Even if she says no, I’ll go with the two of them.

“What do you think, Mother? Would you like to go on a picnic with us?”

“Well, I suppose I might be lacking in exercise too. It would be good for my health, so I suppose we could go. Although, I can’t go every day…”

I was thinking of inviting my father and brother too, but both of them are training in swordsmanship early in the morning, and they’re busy with work, so I decided to leave them out for now. Of course, when they seem to have some free time, I plan to invite them along.

“However, the weather is going to get hotter from now on. And the sun will be stronger, which could cause our skin to get sunburned. What should we do?”

“Y-yes, you’re right. I hadn’t thought about that. Oh, I’ll make some cold cookies to deal with the heat, so I think that will be alright. As for the sunburn… I’ll make some sunscreen cream.”

“Cold cookies? Sunscreen cream?”

“Uh, well…”

I explained to Fabienne about the cold cookies I was planning to make with her and the magic potion for preventing sunburn, which I called sunscreen cream.

When I mentioned the sunscreen cream, Fabienne looked surprised.

“I’ve never heard of such a magic potion.”

“Ahaha, I just remembered it a moment ago. Now that you mention it, it was written in a book my grandmother gave me.”

“Margaret-sama truly is amazing.”

Unaware of the situation, Fabienne clapped her hands and was impressed, but my mother was looking at me with a suspicious glance.

I might not be able to cover it up much longer. However, it’s impossible to prove that what I said was a lie. I think I can get away with it for a little longer.

With that, it was decided that we would go on a picnic. The first picnic, a memorable one, would take place tomorrow. It seems that my mother will take care of the arrangements. In the meantime, I’ll go to the merchant’s association to install a closing device.

The sun is still mild, and we probably won’t need the cold cookies or sunscreen cream just yet. I plan to have the magic potion ready before the summer sun gets too harsh.
