Chapter 181: Shocking Pink

"What, is it a cold? Don't scare me. Then, the reason there are fewer people than when I came last time is because some of the kids have colds?"

"Yes, that's right. We can’t have it pass on to you Julius-sama, so I've told any children I suspect to not come out of their rooms."

　I see. I’m sorry I put the children in a tight spot by visiting. But you don’t have to worry anymore. I’m here, the Potions Master.

“I’ve brought you a little souvenir, just in case this ever happens. Bring it to me.”

　I motioned to the servant, who bowed and brought the wooden box. The children looked at the crate on the large table with open mouths. Nero also looked on confused.

"I heard that a cold was going around here in the capital, so I went and made some 'cold medicine.' I may look like this, but I have received permission from His Majesty the King to make magic potions. So to speak, I am a Potion Master.”

“At your age?!”

“Yes, Nero. Are you surprised?”

“Yes, I am.”

　Nero’s eyes widened so round and his cute face became even cuter. Nero, you really are a boy, aren’t you?　You’re not fooling me, are you?

　Nero’s surprised face made them feel warm, but the children had somewhat gloomy expressions on their faces. I am sure they know that magic potions taste bad. They have that look on their faces that says, “I definitely don’t want to drink it myself.”

“Then let’s go give the medicine to the kids who have colds.”

“No, Julius-sama, I will take care of that.”

"I can’t let you do that. As a potion master, it's only natural for me to see to it that the potion works. Besides, there's a possibility that they may be suffering from another disease."

　When I said this with a serious face, Nero’s face stiffened. Maybe you have some idea what it could be?　Maybe some of the kids have symptoms that don’t seem to be the common cold. I’m glad I went to the trouble of not only sending supplies, but also made the trip here.

“Well then, let’s go to Lelie first. You look tense, Nero. You’re worried about your sister, aren’t you?”

　Ah, Lelie’s face is drawn. Even though it can cure her painful symptoms, she seems reluctant to take the magic potion.  I glanced at Nero. She may not listen to me, but she will listen to her brother.

"Lelie, I hear that Julius-sama is recognized as a Potion Master by His Majesty the King. So there's no need to worry."

“I-I understand. I-I’ll drink it.”

　Your hands are shaking, Lelie. I pull out a pink magic potion from the crate. Everyone’s eyes widened again at the sheer oddity of the color. Looks are important, after all. It might be better to change the color a little.

“Here you go. It’s crazy sweet, so be prepared.”

“Y-yes.”

　She took the magic potion with a semi-doubting look on her face. The next moment, with a gulp, Lelie’s eyes widened even more than before. Then she drank it down all at once.

“Oh, it’s so sweet!”

　She was extremely surprised. Seeing the look on Lelie’s face, the children began to buzz. Some of them were staring at the box as if they wanted to drink some.

　No, you can’t do that. We can’t let the number of healthy children take cold medicine and waste it.

“Next is this elementary recovery potion. It is also sweetened to make it easier to take, but since the previous potion was sweet, it may not taste as sweet.”

"Well then, let's go hand out cold medicine to the other children who have cold symptoms. I also brought some sweets, so we'll have a snack when we’re done."

　The children responded cheerfully. As it was, I went around with everyone giving them magic potions.
