Chapter 102: Tea Party, Once Again

I worked on improving the prototype Sprinkler I brought back to the salon. During the testing, I had placed the main body with the magic circle that released water on the ground and used it that way, but it would be better to make it portable.

In that case, the most convenient option would be a backpack-type that can be worn on the back.

Although I succeeded in miniaturization, it still had the size of a backpack for a picnic. So, I decided to make it like an actual backpack.

I hadn't seen a back-worn type of magical tool before. It would be quite an innovative product, visually speaking.

"Rosalia, I'm thinking of making this Sprinkler wearable on the back."

"On the back? Understood."

As soon as I mentioned it, Rosalia quickly brought out some leather. Yeah, this should be sturdy and without any issues. Rosalia skillfully combined the metal parts, processing them into a backpack-like form.

Her work was speedy and refined. She hadn't been making multiple magical tools for nothing. It seemed that even in a smaller size, she was quite skilled.

While making adjustments to make it more comfortable to wear, the "Complete Version of the Sprinkler" was finished. I even added some embossing to the rugged metal case. The usage instructions were also engraved, so even first-time users could feel at ease.

"It's complete."

"Congratulations, Rosalia. This is your first invention."

"But it's not just my effort."

Hmm, it seemed that Rosalia wasn't completely satisfied. Perhaps she wanted to consider something she had made entirely on her own as her first invention.

In that case, let's consider it a joint development between me and Rosalia. That way, her name will also be known.

Thus, the completed Sprinkler was displayed in the salon until the next morning.

The following day, we immediately decided to test its functionality. I put on the backpack-like Sprinkler and headed to the herb garden.

"Julius-sama, I can do it even without Julius-sama's help..."

"That's right. What will we do if something happens to Julius-sama?"

The knights tried to stop me, but as one of the developers, I wanted to test its usability myself. It was my responsibility as a developer.

"It's fine. I know this Sprinkler very well. It's the job of a magical tool craftsman to use it myself, identify any shortcomings, and refine it to perfection."

"When did Julius-sama become a magical tool craftsman?"

"...That's right. I was supposed to be an alchemist."

I obediently followed the knights' advice. I instructed one of the knights to wear the Sprinkler, explaining how to use it. He should be able to water the plants without any issues.

This knight was in charge of the herb garden's security and was particularly skilled at managing and cultivating herbs. I planned to give him an additional position allowance. I thought it would be good to make him exclusively responsible for the herb garden.

"How is the weight and wearing comfort?"

"It's a bit small for me, but the weight is not a problem."

"I see. Then let's improve it by making the belt adjustable. Now, try spraying water as a test."

"Understood."

The knight aimed the nozzle upwards in the herb garden. The extended tip of the Sprinkler allowed for a fine shower-like spray. It should be able to water a wide area.

As soon as he pressed the switch, water gushed out vigorously from the tip. It had a decent range too.

"Kyuu!"

"Hey, Mirra, stop that!"

I quickly grabbed Mirra, who was about to jump out. I didn't want to get soaked from head to toe in the morning. The knight, already accustomed to it, started evenly watering the herb garden. His face looked happy.

"It seems to be working well, Onii-sama!"

"Yeah, it looks like it. Now we can save the effort of carrying water all the way here every time."

We crossed our arms and nodded with a sense of accomplishment. The gardeners who were watering the garden came over and expressed their admiration.

Alright, for the gardeners' sake, I should make a few more Sprinklers.

While making additional Sprinklers and improving them, I received responses to the invitations I sent. Every letter expressed the desire to participate. It was a relief. It seemed that I wasn't disliked. It's good not to be left out.

"Onii-sama, Melissa will be attending the tea party."

"Understood. I'll make the necessary adjustments for that number of guests."

It seemed that Rosalia didn't have much experience attending tea parties, so she didn't know many people. Maybe I should take Rosalia to tea parties more actively. I should consult with Father about that.

I had already decided on the details of the tea party with the experienced servants. What sweets to serve, what beverages to offer, and how to decorate.

The main purpose of this tea party is to introduce Mirra to everyone. From there, her popularity will gradually spread among the people, and I hope she becomes like a guardian deity of the Haine Margraviate in the future.

There would be very few foolish individuals who would dare to provoke Mirra, protected by the Haine Margraviate. We also had reasonable connections with the royal family, and His Majesty the King remembered us well. There should be no need to worry too much.

At the tea party, I also thought about introducing the magical tools made by Rosalia. If it becomes known that Rosalia has the ability as a magical tool craftsman, there might even be marriage proposals from understanding gentlemen.

I would recommend friends who are interested in my magical tools. They're in the same territory, so if they marry nearby, they can visit each other easily.
