Chapter 303: Festival Preparations

While working on farm duties, we also progressed preparations for the festival. With only three days left, things were getting serious.

Just like during the mock battle tournament, Sam-san had arrived early today to start the full-scale setup.

“Sam-san, thank you for coming all this way.”

“Of course. It’s my job. Besides, it looks like the preparations have gone quite far already.”

“I’ve just made a bunch of booths. As for where and how to place them, we’ll leave that to you.”

“That’s enough. You leave the booth setup and decorations to me. Regarding fireworks, I’ll need some time to discuss details when the time comes.”

“Yes, please call me if anything comes up.”

After exchanging this conversation with Sam-san, I returned to farm work. Meanwhile, Sam-san continued preparing the festival, and before my eyes, the village quickly took on a festive atmosphere.

This year, lanterns had been prepared, so the festival could be enjoyed even at night.

Fireworks were also planned, and it would be wonderful to see the place bustling with activity.

On the first day, we set up the lanterns. On the second day, we installed booths and prepared the fireworks launch site. The fireworks would be set off near the river flowing from the mountain, just in case.

“All right, the main preparations seem to be complete. Tomorrow, the vendors will arrive, so let’s do a rehearsal to prepare for the main event the day after.”

“Sam-san, well done. It looks like the festival could start even today with this setup.”

“Fufufu, I’m quite proud of this work. By the way, Sato-san, are you also running booths?”

“Yes, we plan to set up several. Are there any booths available?”

“The ones from last year aren’t being used, so there’s plenty of space. I probably won’t be able to enjoy the main event, so I’ll enjoy the rehearsal tomorrow.”

“Yes, please enjoy it and let us know if there’s anything to improve.”

Thus, tomorrow’s rehearsal would be held for Sam-san and the villagers. The goal was to provide maximum fun and, if necessary, make adjustments in preparation for the main festival the day after.

How many people would attend was unknown, but like the mock battle tournament, Sam-san was also promoting the event.

Additionally, thanks to Velvet-san, more carriages were being arranged to accommodate a larger crowd. We wanted to prepare for many visitors.

Honestly, I had hoped the inn would also be ready by now, but construction was still ongoing. If too many people came suddenly, Lucia-san and the others would panic.

So, all things considered, I decided to go to sleep early to be ready for tomorrow’s rehearsal.

The next day.

I woke earlier than usual, worked on the farm with full effort, and finished quickly.

By early afternoon, the tasks were done, and preparations for the booths began.

The vendors Sam-san had invited had already arrived.

Upon inspection, there were no food stalls—only game booths.

There were traditional festival games like water balloon scooping, water gun shooting, and paper-cutting challenges, as well as lesser-known ones like paper sumo, darts, and punch machines.

Some stalls even included games from other worlds, offering variety and plenty of booths. Visitors would surely enjoy themselves.

Among the game booths, we decided to run food stalls ourselves.

We wanted to ensure the quality of the food, so we handled the preparation personally.

In total, five food stalls were planned.

Shaved ice, chocolate bananas, candied fruit, whole pickled cucumbers, yakisoba, takoyaki, frankfurters, and grilled squid.

Chocolate bananas, candied fruit, and pickled cucumbers were sold from one stall, while frankfurters and squid were sold together from another.

We prepared sufficient quantities to avoid running out.

I was in charge of takoyaki, while Norman-san and Jacob-san handled yakisoba, frankfurters, and squid.

For simpler items like shaved ice and chocolate bananas, we assigned suitable people. With that, preparations were complete.

As the sunlight softened, the rehearsal began.

The lanterns we installed lit up successfully, and festival music played from the radio.

The atmosphere felt even more like a proper festival than last year, and I almost forgot I was in another world as I began cooking takoyaki.
