Chapter 288: Plans for the Day Off

For the past few days, I had been spending my time reading the newly purchased Dragon Ball after finishing my farm work.

It had been a while since I last read it, but as expected, Dragon Ball is a timeless masterpiece.

Not only is the story great, but it really highlights just how cool the characters are.

The Super Saiyan transformation goes without saying—it’s a stroke of genius—and even the villains, like Frieza, are incredibly cool.

Starting tomorrow, I was planning to take a few days off.

Since summer would be packed with events, the idea was to take a vacation beforehand.

I was at a really good part in Dragon Ball, and part of me wanted to spend the whole break binge-reading the manga I bought…

But it would be a waste not to go somewhere.

So, I decided to pause the manga and go on a trip instead.

Since farming had already started, it would probably be another trip with just Sheila and me.

We hadn’t decided where to go yet, so I wanted to settle that today.

“Sorry for calling you again, Sheila. I’m thinking of going on a trip starting tomorrow—would you like to come with me?”

“Of course I’ll come! Though that’s quite sudden! I’m happy about it, though!”

Even though it was short notice, Sheila agreed without hesitation.

I would’ve preferred to plan ahead, but the summer break itself had been decided suddenly.

“Thank you. Then let’s go somewhere together starting tomorrow.”

“Yes! Have you decided where to go?”

“No, not yet. That’s actually why I called you—do you have any good travel destinations in mind?”

I felt bad relying entirely on Sheila, but I really wasn’t familiar with this world.

If I had to choose, it would probably just be the royal capital or the city of Lanzole.

“Good travel destinations, huh… There are several, but it depends on your goal. There’s the city of Ginawanos with its arena, the trade city Rudark, the city of Middeka with one of the world’s largest casinos, the Merlode Final Disposal Site—the most dangerous place in the kingdom—and the ruined temple of Sarevo, said to be where a god once fell. They’re not exactly nearby, but these are some of the most well-known places in the kingdom.”

“They all sound interesting. I’m curious about every single one.”

All the places she mentioned were genuinely fascinating.

That said, the Merlode Final Disposal Site and the Sarevo Ruined Temple sounded a bit scary.

Just from the names—and her brief explanations—they gave off a very ominous vibe.

I was a little tempted to visit out of curiosity, but they didn’t seem like good destinations for a quick trip.

“Out of those, where would you most like to go?”

“Probably the trade city or the arena. The casino also interests me, but I’d rather go when I have more money.”

“I see. Then I’ll go gather some information on Ginawanos and Rudark. In the meantime, please prepare so we can leave as early as tomorrow.”

“Huh? You’re going to check now?”

“Yes. I’ll be back!”

Before I could even finish asking, Sheila dashed off.

I tried to follow her, but she ran off at incredible speed and disappeared in no time.

“Gather information… where did she even go to do that?”

I was a bit concerned about where she went, but knowing her, she’d be fine.

Deciding it was better to do what she said, I hurried back to my room and started preparing so I could leave at any time.

—That night.

Sheila, who had been missing all day, finally returned.

“Welcome back, Sheila. Where did you go?”

“I went to the royal capital to gather some information.”

“What!? You went all the way to the capital after that?”

I was left speechless by her unbelievable energy.

I was grateful—but also felt a bit guilty.

“If I run, I can get there quickly. Anyway, I gathered quite a bit of information. For now, Rudark seems like a better choice than Ginawanos. There are events at the arena every day, but because of the heat, there aren’t any major ones happening right now.”

“I see! Then Rudark sounds like the better destination for this trip.”

“Yes. Toward the end of autumn, there’s a big annual tournament, so we should visit Ginawanos then.”

“I agree. Sheila, thank you so much for going out of your way to check all that.”

“No problem. I’m looking forward to tomorrow.”

Sheila said that with a smile, then mentioned she’d go take a shower and head to bed early.

I decided to turn in early as well, so I’d be ready for tomorrow.
