Just another Isekai Lover~
Chapter 149: Rival
The board game segment, including the werewolf game, had come to an end.
Surprisingly, the winner of the board game division was Ashros-san.
Despite always having a poker face, she was extremely sharp, which made her very skilled at board games.
She and Sheila-san were neck-and-neck until the end, but the final results of the werewolf game tipped the scales in Ashros-san’s favor, earning her the victory in the board game category.
And the overall winner was Sheila-san, who placed second in both the Super Smash Bros. and board game divisions.
She was also the runner-up in the mock battle tournament, showcasing just how high her overall capabilities were.
Even though this was a game tournament, it really reinforced just how amazing Sheila-san is.
Meanwhile, the person who came in last in the overall rankings was Yato-san.
It was a bit unfortunate—she scored even lower than me, Velvet-san, and Yui-san, who only participated in the board game division.
She lost in the first round of Smash Bros., and in the board game segment, her emotions showed on her face, leading to poor performance.
The werewolf game was especially bad—her expressions made it obvious she was the werewolf, and on top of that, she kept making slip-ups that had everyone laughing.
Still, even though she kept losing, unlike during the dungeon event, she didn’t seem down at all. She truly looked like he was having fun, and that was a relief.
Despite being a powerful dragon called the Yato-no-Kami, she’s such a lovable goof that it’s easy to forget.
That’s part of what makes her so charming, but given how she’s been on a losing streak with the dungeon event and now the game tournament, maybe it’s time we hold a competition in a field she excels in.
Or perhaps we could hold a “Train Yato-san” event and give her some intensive coaching.
She seems to be having fun even now, but winning would definitely make her happiest.
“I won’t lose next time!”
“I won’t lose next time either!”
While I was thinking such things, Yato-san and Joel-kun were shaking hands.
Joel-kun had placed second to last, and it seemed like the intense battle for last place had sparked a new friendship between them.
Joel-kun managed to pull slightly ahead of Yato-san thanks to drawing the role of the madman in the werewolf game.
Looking at the actual results, they were about even, so it didn’t really feel like Joel-kun had “won,” but—if both of them are satisfied with the outcome, that’s good enough.
At any rate, I’m glad the Christmas party’s game tournament was such a hit.
Now it was time for the main event—the Christmas party itself, involving everyone waiting in the living room.
The game tournament had been more exciting than expected, so we were running behind schedule. I needed to hurry and meet up with Norman-san to start preparing the food.
I called out to everyone still in the rec room and quickly made my way to the kitchen.
When I arrived, Norman-san was already there, along with one of his acquaintances—or rather, his apprentices.
I felt bad seeing that half of the dishes were already prepared, but I joined in to help as well.
“Sorry for being late. Thank you too, to Norman-san’s apprentice, for coming to help.”
“No, thank you for giving us such a valuable opportunity! I’d heard about it from Norman-san, but I was blown away by how incredible the ingredients are!”
“Even just taste-testing them made me want to eat everything! Now I get why Norman-san was so excited!”
“No need for unnecessary commentary. Besides, we started early on our own, so you’re not really late. It’d be great if you could help us from here.”
“Of course—I’m ready to help. Just give me instructions, Norman-san.”
And with that, the four of us got to work cooking together.
It felt a bit cramped with four people in the not-so-large kitchen, but thanks to Norman-san’s precise instructions, everything went smoothly.
Norman-san handled all the main dishes, one apprentice took charge of the appetizers, and the other was in charge of desserts.
I was mostly in charge of the finishing touches, and in about an hour after I joined, we managed to prepare a large quantity of food.
This time, there were more than twice as many participants as last time, so I’d been really worried about whether we’d have enough food. But thanks to Norman-san, everything turned out great.
The overall quality of the dishes was even better than before, and I was confident everyone would enjoy them.
“Thank you, Norman-san, and also Liz-san and Bren-san. Thanks to you, the food is plentiful and top quality.”
“I’ve said it many times already, but we should be the ones thanking you. Thanks for giving us such a great opportunity.”
“I can’t thank you enough either! I think I made the best dessert of my life!”
“Same here! Thank you, Sato-san!”
Even though they were the ones who helped me, they were all thanking me, which felt a bit strange.
Sure, I guess it was a valuable experience for them as chefs, but still, from my perspective, I was just full of gratitude.
“It doesn’t feel right for me to be the one getting thanked! Anyway, from here on, I hope you all enjoy yourselves. Please eat as much of the food you made as you like!”
“Then we’ll gladly accept that offer. I’ve been dying to eat ever since we started cooking.”
“Me too! I’m looking forward to mingling with everyone!”
“Please do enjoy yourselves. Now, let’s start carrying out the food, shall we?”
With that, we brought the dishes out to the living room where everyone was waiting.
As the food was laid out on the tables one dish after another, voices of admiration rang out from all directions.
Hearing those voices filled me with joy, and with that, the Christmas party entered its main event.
