Just another Isekai Lover~

Chapter 144: Original Cuisine

Three days had passed since we returned to the villa.

Today is the day of the Christmas party, and everyone is scheduled to come over soon.

Last year, it was just Velvet-san and Ren-san’s group, but this time the guest list has expanded greatly—Donny-san, Lua-san, Portia-san, Royce-san, Rozzo-san, Sid-san, Brittany-san, Joel-kun, George-san, Yato-san, Ashros-san, and Helena. The increase in attendees shows just how much more socially active this past year has been. Just reminiscing about all these encounters could probably pair well with a delicious drink.

But there’s no time to get lost in memories at a Christmas party—we’re here to make sure everyone has fun, and I’ve got to give it my all.

Just like for the mock battle tournament, I’ve asked Norman-san to come and help out today, and I absolutely want this to be a success.

“Norman-san, thank you so much for coming so early this morning.”

“No need to thank me. I’m happy to be invited back. During the mock battle tournament, I had the rare experience of being moved by a dish I made myself—it was truly unforgettable.”

Norman-san seemed to be recalling the mock battle tournament from about six months ago, a nostalgic smile on his face.

Even though this time he’s not here as a participant but for work, it’s really encouraging that he’s this enthusiastic.

“I’m glad to hear that. We’ll stick to a planned menu for some dishes, but for everything else, feel free to cook whatever you like.”

“Whatever I like, huh? That’s a lot of pressure. But I’ve developed quite a few recipes over the past six months, so I’ll definitely take the opportunity.”

Yes, aside from Japanese recipes I’ve shared with him, I also want Norman-san to cook his own original creations.

It’s not easy to surpass already perfected recipes, but I’m also looking forward to being surprised. That’s why I decided to entrust about half of the menu to him.

“If you need any specific seasonings, please don’t hesitate to ask. There are even flavour enhancers that can really boost tastiness.”

“…Hm? Flavour enhancers…? I don’t quite understand what you mean. Are you saying the more you use them, the tastier it gets?”
“No, not exactly. Taste needs balance, too. But depending on the dish or ingredients, these seasonings can explosively increase the flavour.”

I’m talking about things like Ajinomoto or Hi-Me (MSG-based Taste enhancers).

I was shocked the first time I used them. I’m sure Norman-san will be too.

“Alright, definitely get me some of that seasoning! Haha, you really do always give me interesting information, Sato-san. I envy the people who get to live here.”

“You’re always welcome to move in. As long as you’re a good person, we’ll accept anyone.”

“That’s… honestly really tempting. Let me think about it.”

“Just be sure to get your manager’s permission first, okay? I don’t want any bad blood!”

“I know, I know. But that might be the hardest part.”

If Norman-san came here, it would be a huge boost for us, but I don’t want to get on the bad side of the kind owner of the diner who’s been good to us since the beginning. Norman-san is easily the most skilled chef I know—if he got “headhunted,” it could definitely leave a sour taste.

As I chatted with Norman-san, we continued preparing for the Christmas party.

There was a lot to do, and just the prep work took about four hours, but everything was finally ready.

The only thing left was actual cooking, and it looks like one of Norman-san’s friends—or maybe a disciple of his—will be helping out as well, so I’m sure we’ll be able to finish everything without issue.

Ever since I was transported to this other world, I’ve been constantly supported by others. I can’t express how grateful I am for all the people who’ve helped me along the way.

“Norman-san, thank you again. Until it’s time to cook, you’re welcome to rest in your room or join us out here and enjoy yourself.”

“I’ll rest in my room. I’m here for work, after all. But if I ever move here permanently, I’ll join in next time.”

Such a professional response.

Personally, I hoped he’d join us too—especially since Sheila-san, who loves cooking, and Helena, who’s still learning, would be thrilled—but I won’t force him. I respect his decision.

“It’s a bit of a shame, but I understand. I’ll be looking forward to that day, then. But! You have to eat the food we made together. That part is non-negotiable!”

“Of course. I’ll gladly eat it.”

With that settled, I guided Norman-san to his room, then made my way to the living room on the first floor.

The Christmas party was finally about to begin.

It wasn’t going to be as grand an event as the mock battle tournament, more like a relaxed gathering with friendly conversation—but I was really looking forward to it.
