Chapter 403: A Popular Person in Town [with notices].
Tauro and the rest of the Black-Golden Wings escorted the village chief and his party to the village as requested, then returned to the town of Caxart.
“The schedule was extended much longer than planned, so it’s been a long time since we’ve been in Caxart.”
Ankh mentioned to Tauro on the way home.
“That’s true. It was supposed to be just an escort mission, but it turned out to be a lot of things, we had to defeat bandits, get into a duel, and re-educate a spoiled brat. And so much more….”
Tauro chuckled as he thought about the past two weeks.
“First, let’s report at the adventurer’s guild. Then let’s have dinner. I want to eat crab at the usual inn!”
Ragune suggested, looking forward to it.
“Crab? I want to eat that again, too.”
Zion agreed with Ragune’s opinion.
“Well, let’s do that. It’s been two weeks since, but doesn’t this city seem even more lively than before?”
Tauro asked Zion.
“…… indeed it is. Just as Tauro-sama said, it feels like the place is overflowing with energy. This feeling… it has the same atmosphere as before the Flame Crab incident!”
Zion knows the area well because she was originally a resident of the city of Caxart.
“I see. I’m glad to see that the city is as lively as it used to be. …… Well, let’s go report back to the guild.”
Tauro, with a relieved look on his face, headed for the Adventurers’ Guild.
“Everyone from the Black-Golden Wings, welcome back. I’ve received a brief message from you, but it sounds like you’ve been through a lot.”
The receptionist, Armine, immediately recognized Tauro and his friends and welcomed them.
“I will submit a report on the completion of the quest.”
Tauro submits the report he had put together in advance.
“─ ─ Yes, I have confirmed it. ─ ─ oh right, Tauro-san. Right now, you guys are attracting a lot of attention in this city.”
“What?”
I asked back, not knowing what she was talking about.
Looking around carefully, he saw that the adventurers he had previously taught the tricks of hunting Flame Crab, as well as the rookie adventurers, were looking their way.
Come to think of it, I think the energy in the guild has improved considerably.
“See, you guys were originally active in defeating flaming crabs, right? Recently, crab dishes have become extremely popular. They’re all the rage now. It was you, Tauro, who came up with the idea. It was you, Tauro and your friends who exposed the previous mayor’s misdeeds and presented him to the lord. It was you, and your friends who also solved the corruption in the adventurer’s guild altogether. And now, the guild’s most popular quest is the ‘Flaming Crab Hunt’, and it was you, and your friends who taught the E-rank adventurers how to hunt them, ain’t that right? And it spread along with the crab dish boom!”
Armine, the receptionist, explained the cause.
The power of crabs is truly fearsome!
Tauro thought to himself.
“…… Ahaha. That’s troubling. ……”
Tauro says, and Armine replies in sync.
“That’s right. Thanks to Tauro’s efforts, crab dishes have become popular, the prices have gone up, and the rewards for the guild’s quest to hunt Flaming Crabs have gone up, but the attention has led to a number of non-adventurer residents who, on the whiff of money, go out into the salt lake at night to hunt flaming crabs on their own, only to be killed in return, which has been occurring frequently.”
The reply came back with a different reason than Tauro intended.
“It’s self-inflicted harm. It’s wrong for an amateur to mess with a D-rank monster in the first place.”
Ankh showed his dismay at hearing the story.
“Oh dear… There’s no cure for stupidity.”
Ragune looked just as disinterested as Ankh.
“That’s why the Adventurers’ Guild is putting out its own quests for nighttime surveillance around the salt lakes.”
“You don’t go out of town?”
“The town is still being governed by a deputy sent by the feudal lord, not a mayor, but he seems to be busy with other matters and doesn’t seem to have the time to deal with us.”
“I see”
It seems that as life has returned to the town, traffic and human movement has increased, and so has the magistrate’s workload.
The current Deputy probably can’t handle such an increase in the amount of work. It certainly sounds like a lot of work.
“Oh yes. The E-rank adventurers who learned to hunt from you and your friends are now the center of attention. The rewards are high, so many other adventurers are working hard to make a fortune. There are even adventurers who call themselves flame crab hunters.”
The story seems to be growing louder and louder, but Tauro decided not to touch on it.
But if it is getting so much attention, will the salt lake’s flaming crabs become extinct?
Tauro wondered so, but it was possible that someone was feeding them and multiplying them like before.
Now that the Flame Crab has gone from being a nuisance to the city to being a trendy food, it is not surprising that some people are worried that the Flame Crab, a resource for the town, might become extinct.
Look like it’d be best to have the breeding farm moving along quickly.
Perhaps these things were also part of what kept the deputy busy in this city.
Sorry for keeping you somewhat busy.
Tauro somehow found himself praying in the direction of the mayor’s residence, where the deputy would be.
After his interaction with Armine, the receptionist, he was greeted by the local adventurers.
They were all adventurers whom they had taught to subjugate flaming crabs.
Some of them expressed their gratitude, saying that they had been promoted to the D rank range.
They said that because they had continued hunting flaming crabs for so long, they got a high rating on their promotion assessment.
So they say it was thanks to Tauro and his colleagues who taught them how to hunt.
Tauro and his friends have become very popular not only within the Adventurers’ Guild but also in the town, and although not many people knew their faces so they couldn’t talk to them, it seemed like their names were well known.
When we went to our usual inn to see if there were any rooms available, the innkeeper welcomed us with open arms.
Then, because the usual rooms were fully booked, we were shown to the best room.

After all, ever since Tauro taught the inn how to cook crab, sales had been on the rise and it had become extremely popular, with all rooms booked.
Therefore, it was natural for the owner to treat Tauro with respect.
“… it’s a bit unsettling to be treated like this…”
While everyone else was happy with their upgraded room, Tauro grumbled.
