Chapter 6: The Strongest Onmyoji Understands the Underground Labyrinth
“A Dungeon… here?”
A dungeon, I believe, is an underground labyrinth where monsters appear.
It is not just a space, but a place close to another world, with a core of boss monsters, items, and sorcerers.
“As long as monsters appear in a place like this, it’s normal to think so.”
“Heh… I see. It’s my first time in a dungeon.”
Saying that, I sat down on the ground.
Amiyu looks down at me puzzled.
“What are you doing?”

“I’m sitting”
“why?”
“You can’t just walk around blindly. You’ll only drain your strength. It’s better to stay here and wait for help. The monster carcass will mask our body odor. ……”
“There’s no way that help is coming.”
I frown at Amiyu’s assertion.
“why?”
“People don’t go to help those who didn’t return from a dungeon. There are more people who die by being attacked by monsters than those living in distress.”
“That’s a story by adventurer’s, isn’t it? We’re students and we wandered in here by accident.”
“That’s bad enough. We didn’t come in through the entrance. We were suddenly teleported to a dungeon in the middle of nowhere. Even if the teachers find the magic circle, do you think they will follow us? It will only cause more people to get lost.”
“If we analyze the magic circle, we can at least figure out where we teleported to.”
“It’s the same thing even if we do. Maybe, but …… this is not a guild controlled dungeon, and of course it is not mapped. Not even a professional adventurer would undertake to suddenly go looking for a person in distress in such a place.”

“Then what are you going to do?”
“When you get lost in a dungeon, there’s only one thing to do. Walk.”
Amiyu reaches out to me.
“Walk, walk, walk, and before you run out of energy and strength, find your way to another party or to the exit on your own. That’s the only way.”
“Haha, that sounds hopeless.”
I take Amiyu’s hand and stand up, brushing the dirt off my trousers.
Actually, I wanted to carefully observe the situation on ground with the Shikigami’s field of vision for a couple of hours, but… well, it’s okay.
Let’s set a policy.
it’s a good idea to move on. I’m not worried about running out of stamina.
The scariest thing in a place like this is death from starvation, suffocation, and shortages. But I can get food, water, and air with a spell. I will be able to live for a few months without any problem

In case of emergency, we can hit the dungeon all over again with a large number of shikigami and find a way out to the surface. I don’t really want to do that, though, because it would be a waste.
But if that is the case, I would like to save Hitogata as much as possible.
There is one more thing I want to try.
“Yuki”
I call out to Yuki with a tone that’s barely a whisper.
“I don’t want to use too much hitogata. Can you search for the enemy for me?”
“!! You’re in charge, Seika-sama!”
Yuki replied happily.
Monsters aren’t much of a threat. Yuki can’t say she’s good at exhibiting supernatural power, but she’s enough for this place.
Anyway, it’s so dark that I can only use snakes and bats. It’s hard to handle, huh.
That’s right, speaking of darkness, there’s one more thing.
“Amiyu. Wait a minute.”
I stopped Amiyu who was about to start walking.
“You can turn off the light from sword. I’ll take care of the light.”
With that, I sent a few hitogata flying and turned on the light.
In the underground passageway, which had become much brighter than before, Amiyu said in surprise.
“Is this a spell? And you can use light magic too?”
“Well. Like I said, I’m pretty good.”
Amiyu let out a small sigh.
“The odds of surviving have increased just a little. But it’s a comforting thought.”
Looking at her profile, I blurted out.
“Amiyu, you seem to have no problems at all. Even in a situation like this.”
Hearing this, Amiyu’s eye’s widened slightly and she turned away.
“… that’s not true.”
※Snake/Bat Shikigami
A shikigami used in complete darkness. You can search for heat sources using the pit organs of copperheads and pythons, and echolocation using ultrasonic waves from bats to explore topography and other organisms. However, since the human brain does not originally have the function to process such information, it is quite difficult to use.
