Chapter 3: Everyone is Only Facing Forward

At the age of five, Ishud took on the fundamentally implausible profession of a Spellblade as his first job, and a few days later, real combat began.

"Gobaaaaaah!!!"

Initially, he encountered a goblin, an individual with green skin, considered one of the weakest monsters by luck.

With Roberto and others watching from a distance, Ishud forcefully shouted and swung a specially crafted battle axe.

Having trained in cutting objects, envisioning them as enemies, Ishud splendidly shed his novice status as a warrior.

"Ugh!!!!!"

However, for a combatant, it can be tougher to deal with the aftermath of killing a living being with one's own hands than facing monsters for the first time.

This is a challenge many individuals cannot avoid, and after seeing the contents of the slain goblin, Ishud vomited extensively.

"Haa, haa, haa, haa... Alright."

Despite the forceful vomiting, Ishud stood up without relying on Roberto and others' help and began walking again.

(Indeed, he did vomit. However, the mental strength to stand up within a minute, and the determination to face fear by forcibly raising his voice... It's truly on a different level.)

Of course, Roberto did not teach Ishud these coping mechanisms; Ishud thought of and executed them on his own.

Afterwards, the knights serving the Regula family helped thin out monsters that Ishud still couldn't defeat, and the first practical training continued until nightfall.

"I'm h-home~"

Upon returning to the mansion, Ishud lightly washed himself, devoured the meal more than usual, and then took a leisurely bath to wash away fatigue.

By the way, since he was still a child, the beautiful maids washed his body.

At first, many exclamation marks of surprise floated above his head, feeling embarrassed... but after calming down once, he decided that it would be a waste to give up this special treatment.

And once he returned to his room... Ishud, who collapsed onto his bed, tried to sleep right away.

(............No, it's not good; it's too wasteful to sleep like this.)

Forcing himself to get up, Ishud changed his clothes and headed to the training ground in his training attire.

"What!? You're not sleeping!!"

"Well, I did return to my room once, but I immediately changed into my training attire and came to the training ground to reflect on today."

"........Hahaha!! Well, I'll be damned!!!"

Laughter, loud enough to shake the cabin, echoed and reached the main building.

"Ishud certainly vomited after seeing the contents of the monster. Of course, it's quite an achievement to defeat a monster in your first practical battle."

"I've heard about your remarkable performance from the accompanying knights. It's surprising enough to have your debut at the age of five, but it seems you possess not only a passionate heart but also a calm mind."

"In addition, you have an insatiable desire for improvement."

Having lived for several decades, Roberto still vividly remembered the scene of his first battle... the sensation of killing a living being for the first time.

At that time, Roberto couldn't even eat after returning to the mansion and ended up falling asleep without having a meal.

"Indeed, it seems Ishud will eventually surpass me."

It's not that his son, grandson, and other great-grandchildren are weak.

However... the difference in the madness born within them is significant.

In Ishud's case, there is a part that is akin to artificial madness, born from his experiences in his past life... Nevertheless, Ishud possesses the drive to act on his thoughts and ideas.

Roberto found himself once again anticipating Ishud's future.

However, in a noble family like Roberto's, if a superlative figure like Roberto openly supports one of his great-grandchildren, the others won't remain silent... That's the typical internal dynamics of a noble family.

However, there were no covert schemes or underhanded dealings among the members of the Regula family.

In fact, when the eldest son, Alex, who was almost certain to inherit the family headship, learned that Ishud, the fourth son, had an interest in academic fields unlike himself, he earnestly suggested, "Hey, Ishud, how about taking over the family headship for me!"

Of course, Ishud humbly declined the proposal.

While Ishud's other siblings might envy him, they had no intention of doing anything about it.

For the Regula family, the primary objective was to become stronger and slay numerous monsters in various ways.

If Ishud's personality were contemptible, the situation might have been different, but his character was genuinely earnest.

When he felt stuck or troubled, he would prepare tea, which had a soothing effect on him, and someone would be there to listen to his concerns.

While there might be moments of envy, there was no trace of jealousy or animosity.

With such special dynamics at play, Ishud grew... flourishing in a way.

A prodigy at ten, a talented individual at fifteen... although not yet twenty, there seemed to be no indication that he would become just an ordinary person.

At the age of fourteen, already surpassing level twenty-five and approaching fifty.

In the midst of that, Ishud, returning from a fierce battle with monsters, was summoned to the office of the current head, Alba, after finishing dinner and before taking a bath.

(What could it be for? Has a convenient B-rank monster appeared? Or perhaps, a troublesome monster in another territory... If that's the case, I wouldn't mind going to subjugate it, but it would be a hassle if I ran into adventurers using that area as their base.)

Thinking that it would be preferable if it were the former, Ishud knocked on the door and entered upon hearing a voice.

"What is it, Dad?"

"Hehe, don't be so impatient. Have a seat, have a seat."

Saying that, Alba took out a bottle from the magic item case where he stored wine.

"Dad, I haven't turned fifteen yet."

"Don't worry about it. You'll be fifteen soon enough. It's not much different."

Thinking that it made sense, Ishud enjoyed the aroma of the matured red wine and slowly took a sip.

"...I still don't really understand the taste of wine, but it feels like there's a profound and strong flavor?"

"Once you understand that, it's enough."

After chatting for about ten minutes as usual, Alba finally got to the main point.

"Ishud... actually, I have a favor to ask of you."

"A favor?"

Ishud looked surprised at the unusual request.

Certainly, Ishud has been using his knowledge from his previous life to accumulate a considerable amount of wealth, but never before has his father, Alba, asked him to lend it for any reason.

(I haven't heard anything about him failing in some business venture or squandering money on extravagant living. I haven't heard that my older brothers or sisters have done such things either.)

As always, Ishud's older brothers and sisters were energetically dealing with approaching monsters every day.

"I want you to enroll in the academy in the royal capital."

"............Huh?"

Though of a different nature, the impact was as profound as when he first met his great-grandfather, Roberto.

  1. Thanks for the chapter! Good that he gets well with his siblings. Since that family seems to be mostly muscle brains (probably), can see why the 1st son wanted to give up being head to his younger sibling (since the MC would be doing brain stuff).

Guessing going to school in the royal capital cause of magic (and the MC’s chosen profession).
