Just another Isekai Lover~

Chapter 30

In the western district of Franta City, the Yomuyomu Adventurer's Guild, many lively individuals gather today as well.

In front of the board displaying material requests and requests for monster subjugation, parties are discussing which ones to choose.

At the reception desk, you can see adventurers proudly reporting their successful subjugations, others listening to explanations of the conditions for accepting requests, and some being declined when inviting the receptionist girl for a drink after receiving their rewards.

Inside the guild, adventurers are bustling with activities such as exchanging information about requests and monsters.

A young adventurer walked in.

Upon spotting a close friend, they began to tell an interesting story with a strangely resonant voice.

"Hey, listen to this~"

"Huh?"

"So, when I passed by the back of the Tiara, the staff were whispering about something. I got curious and overheard that a new employee messed up something and got scolded by a high-ranking elf. They were then called in and had to rub their head on the ground while crying~"

"What's that all about?!"

The misfortune of others is sweet, and adventurers laugh heartily and mock the staff's mishaps.

Those around who overheard the story also chuckled, imagining the undignified scene.

Amidst the laughter, their conversation reached the ears of a brown-haired and chestnut-maned female staff member sitting at the buying counter.

The short-haired girl with brown hair couldn't help but notice the noisy bunch.

"Senpai, I've never seen the elves from Tiara."

"Neither have I."

The chestnut-maned woman, still filling out documents, informs in her current position that she is indeed the deputy guild leader.

"But I wonder what kind of mistake would lead to such anger. Something like what you did before, perhaps..."

She looks up at her junior with a mischievous smile.

"Like buying weeds?"

At this, the younger staff member pouts.

She pouts again, saying

"Hoow rude! That was ages ago! I know better now!"

Satisfied with the reaction, the deputy guild master returns to the paperwork.

"Heh... well, it's a common path for newcomers, isn't it? It's good learning."

"But, but, Senior, are elves really scary when they're angry? Making someone apologize by rubbing their head on the ground... sounds scary."

She has been scolded by her superiors, but she has never experienced such severe reprimands. She seems surprised by the extent of the scolding.

"Hmm... who knows. I don't really know much about elves."

She puts down her pen, lifts her head, and looks towards the adventurers.

It may be another guild, but she thinks that making fun of the staff is not a pleasant sight.

And both of them wonder if elves are really scary... pondering about a race they have never met.

After a while, four adventurers entered with pale faces.

Members of another party, who had completed a previous quest together, approached them.

"Hey, you guys, we're heading out for a monster subjugation next. What about you? Want to team up again?"

However, their expressions were far from lively, and their response was incoherent.

"...What's up with them? Did they eat something weird?"

The brown-haired female staff member who noticed them wore a look that said, "See, I told you."

The group that entered were the adventurers who caused a commotion over the herb-buying issue at Tiara.

As it turns out, the herb in question had initially been brought here for appraisal.

The one who handled it was the brown-haired female staff member, who, just like at Tiara, assessed it as having no value and refused to buy it.

However, since they persisted, she suggested, "Why don't you try taking it to Tiara then?" and got rid of the problem.

Now, seeing their condition, she was convinced that it didn't work out for them.

"See, I told you it wouldn't work!"

She smugly declared to them.

They tried to pass by without responding, but the last one glanced back and mumbled, "We actually got it appraised."

In response, she abruptly stood up.

"What!? There's no way! Where's the value in that withered, rootless grass! Is the appraiser who accepted it an idiot!?"

She was astonished and vehement in her argument, confident that her evaluation was not wrong.

But then, the rumors from earlier crossed her mind.

"Oh..."

――The new recruit from Tiara bought the thing we rejected, and got scolded by the elf!

She hurriedly started questioning them.

"W-wait, you guys... was there, like, an important elf person there?"

"Eh!?"

Asked about the presence of an elf, the four became visibly shaken and stopped in their tracks.

"An elf, an elf! Was there one or not!?"

Seemingly realizing that the story had already spread, they wore embarrassed expressions.

"W-well, yeah, there was one. She took the purchase—"

Before they could finish, the woman turned to her senior.

"Senior! It seems they took the herb we rejected here to Tiara and got it appraised!"

"Eh?"

She explained how they had pushed off the herb we refused to buy onto Tiara.

The senior staff member looked at the adventurers, but their strangely downcast demeanor didn't make sense.

Why weren't they happy if they managed to get it appraised?

"Was the appraisal correct?"

"Well, it's a withered Glorio grass without roots. We won't buy it!"

She confidently asserted that there was no mistake.

The junior staff member asked the adventurers again.

"Did you forcefully push it onto Tiara? Making a fuss about getting it appraised?"

With that statement, the four visibly shrank, and upon seeing that, she openly expressed her disgust.

Then, she understood that the rookie who had forcefully sold the worthless grass had been scolded by the elf.

"You threatened and pushed the rookie around!? Unbelievable!"

The four adventurers all spoke at once, denying the staff's misunderstanding.

"N-no, that's not it... we didn't do that."

"Admittedly, we caused a commotion, but the one dealing with it was a senior—"

"So, you did cause a commotion!"

"W-well, but the one who appraised it was the elf—"

The senior staff member furrowed her brows and let out a deep sigh.

"Chief!"

Turning around and calling out, the person sitting at the farthest table popped their head out from beside a stack of documents.

It was the overall chief of Yomuyomu.

Seeing the adventurers, he immediately came over and inquired about the situation.

She explained to the chief the interactions between the four adventurers and her junior, conveying the fact that they had caused trouble for Tiara.

The chief had previously worked at Tiara, and although he had some sentimental attachment, he made precise judgments.

"Hmm... It's a problem that these four caused a commotion, but that's an issue between them and Tiara."

After glancing at the adventurers, he turned his gaze to the brown-haired staff member.

"If Tiara bought something we rejected, and their superiors got angry, it's not our concern."

Then, he turned to the chestnut-haired staff member.

"So, we won't have anything to say about this matter."

"Understood."

She felt relieved hearing that.

"However..."

"Hm?"

The chief seemed puzzled about something else.

"...I can't believe an elf would get extremely angry at someone."

"Eh?"

The chief seemed incredulous at the idea of an elf showing strong emotions.

"Even when I was at Tiara before, I've never seen her get furious."

"...,"

He knew that elves were known for not showing much interest in humans.

The four adventurers desperately interrupted.

"N-no, I mean, the one who appraised it was the elf."

"She said it's difficult with the stem, but she'll do her best and buy it..."

"Uh, she approached us with a smile."

"She was incredibly kind. So, we reflected on our actions and thought we were in the wrong."

The chief and the female staff member looked at them with a disapproving gaze.

An elf approaching adventurers with a smile—come on, don't exaggerate!

The chief warned them to be more cautious and not cause trouble for Tiara in the future.
