Chapter 64: The First After School

The guidance session for new students concluded without any major issues.

There were no accidents, such as the unexpected appearance of the third prince, Rodel, during the session. The students received explanations about the rules for their future school life, as well as information about class selection and other important matters.

At the Royal Academy, unlike regular schools, students had the freedom to choose their classes, allowing them to attend courses with students from other classes or even different departments for elective subjects.

This meant that there was a possibility of sharing a classroom with Rodel and his entourage in the future.

(For now, it’s a relief that Viola and Primula were away this time… but with them around, I’ll need to be cautious to avoid any trouble.)

Rest pledged to align his schedule with the sisters as much as possible. Viola and Primula wouldn’t mind, and he wanted to prevent them from getting involved with Rodel.

“Looks like we’re free to go home now. Shall we, Rest, Primula?”

“Yeah, let’s go.”

“Yes, let’s do that.”

After the guidance session, Rest and the Rosemary sisters stood up. Though it was still before noon, today marked the end of the school day for them.

“Since we’re already out, how about grabbing something to eat on our way home?”

“Yes. We were planning on doing that too.”

“I’ve informed the chef that we won’t be needing lunch, so let’s find a café.”

Viola smiled and steered the conversation toward their new friend.

“How about it, Yuri? Want to join us for a little get-together?”

“Ah, I’m happy to be invited… but unfortunately, I already have plans.”

Yuri, declining with a slightly disappointed expression, continued.

“I promised to have a meal with my uncle and aunt. I’d be glad if you invite me again another time.”

“I see… well, that can’t be helped. Until next time.”

“Yeah. See you later, Rest and Primula.”

“Yes, until next time.”

“Goodbye.”

Yuri left the classroom ahead of them. Rest and the Rosemary sisters followed suit a bit later, planning to leave the academy together. However, as they exited the school building, another student approached them.

“Excuse me, everyone.”

Turning around in response to the voice, they saw a female student who had just become their classmate.

“Celestine-sama?”

Viola’s eyes widened slightly. The person before them was Celestine Crocus, the daughter of Duke Crocus and Rodel’s fiancée.

“I wanted to express my gratitude for earlier… If you have the time, could we talk now?”

“Uh… expressing gratitude is unnecessary. If anything, I should be thanking you for helping me…”

“In that case, consider it an apology. It seems my fiancé has caused trouble. I apologize for any inconvenience. But, if it’s okay with you, may I have some of your time now?”

“Well, it seems a bit serious. I think that prince of yours is just as rumored.”

Primula opened her mouth with a somewhat pointed remark. She was already aware of the earlier incident, where Rest expressed his displeasure at the prospect of changing classes.

“Yes, unfortunately… I know a good café restaurant. Shall we talk there?”

“Um… that sounds good, doesn’t it, both of you?”

Viola checked with Rest and Primula. Both of them nodded in agreement.

“Then, please allow me to join you.”

“Yes. Please lead the way. We’ll follow in our family’s carriage.”

The four of them boarded the carriages of the Crocus and Rosemary families, heading into town together. They arrived at their destination in about ten minutes.

It was a reasonably large and luxurious café restaurant.

“This is one of the establishments managed by the Crocus family. We have private rooms as well, so we can talk in peace.”

Guided by Celestine, Rest and the others entered the café restaurant.

They were led to a private room on the second floor by a middle-aged attendant wearing an elegant tuxedo.

“Please, have a seat.”

“Excuse us.”

Rest took a seat at the six-person table, with the Rosemary sisters on either side. Facing them, Celestine sat down and gracefully presented the menu with a gentle smile.

“What beverages may I bring you? Will you leave the choice of dishes to us?”

“Yes, we’ll leave it to you. I’ll have iced tea for my drink.”

“I’ll have the same.”

“Then, that settles it.”

Celestine placed the order with the attentive waiter who had been standing by. The waiter respectfully acknowledged the order and quietly left the room.

After a short wait, drinks and appetizers were brought to the table.

“Now then… before we start our meal, allow me to offer my greetings and apologies once again.”

Adjusting her posture, Celestine nodded slightly.

“I am Celestine Crocus, a member of the duke’s family. Viola-sama and Primula-sama, we have met several times before, haven’t we?”

“Yes, it’s been a while.”

“Um… you seem to be doing well…”

“In that case, Rest-sama, is it acceptable that you are the gentleman engaged to both of these ladies from the Marquis Rosemary family?”

“Yes… that’s correct. You knew about it?”

“The Crocus Duchy serves as a central hub for the nobility, so we receive most information. A man permitted by the famously doting Marquis Rosemary to marry his two daughters… I was curious to know what kind of person you were.”

Celestine wore an elegant smile as she spoke, seemingly probing for something.

“You’ve helped me twice… once when Prince Rodel bothered me in the classroom and the other time when there was an attempt to spill mud on me during the entrance ceremony.”

“…………!”

It appeared that Celestine was aware of Rest’s actions. As Rest involuntarily blinked, Celestine gave a wry smile.

“I had a feeling.”
