Chapter 83: Legolas's Concerns 

[Perspective of Legolas, Grandmaster of the Adventurer's Guild]

Five years ago.

In the Melkid Kingdom, heroes from another world were born.

At that time, it was Arthur and Mary, S-rank adventurers.

Ever since the world had been overrun by monsters, no one had managed to pass the fourth floor of the Shirakami Dungeon. But Arthur and Mary's party took six months to conquer up to the sixth floor.

A ceremony was held in the capital to celebrate their remarkable achievement, where they significantly updated the cleared floors.

Even among my Elf tribe, who had long desired to conquer the deepest parts of the dungeon, this news was met with joy. Especially for me, the Grandmaster of the Adventurer's Guild, it felt like a divine revelation that saved me both mentally and physically.

At that time, the efforts to conquer the Shirakami Dungeon had not yielded results despite investing a large number of adventurer parties and magic tools. I, as the head of the Elf tribe, was being held responsible for the lack of progress.

In the face of this seemingly endless project, a glimmer of hope was brought to us.

Although we've now run out of food and reached the sixth floor, we know the route to go further next time. If we repeat the conquest while creating maps, eventually, we should be able to reach the deepest parts. Until we can no longer defeat the monsters.

In this regard, Arthur and Mary were exceptional. They were so strong that even we Elves viewed them with concern. I tried to make a formal request from the Adventurer's Guild to the Melkid Kingdom, but I was turned down because the "Sword Saint" was going to be absent for an extended period. It seemed the king of the Melkid Kingdom had forgotten about Arthur, now that he had a valuable asset. He had reduced humans to being nothing more than Elven slaves.

I tried various schemes to remind him of reality, but Arthur and Mary thwarted all my plans. Their individual strengths aside, their performance when commanding the kingdom's army was astonishing.

Those two were dangerous. They had the potential to destroy the relationship between Elves and humans. Recognizing this, I decided to devise a plan to eliminate them. However, such a plan was never approved by the Elf Council because there was no alternative means to conquer the Shirakami Dungeon without Arthur.

Five years have passed since then. It happened about four months ago now.

Someone from another world appeared in the Melkid kingdom.

As planned, people from different worlds are forced to join the Adventurer's Guild in the cities and villages they appear in.

I still remember the shock I felt when I saw Arthur and Mary's professions.

They weren't the typical "Hero," "Sage," or "Saint" roles. Instead, they had unique professions that nobody had ever written about in the past.

I couldn't make sense of it, and when I asked them, they said it was "Sword" and "Sword Sheath."

At first, I made fun of them, but their growth from that point onwards was astonishing and left me amazed.

From that experience, I made it a point to keep an eye out for otherworldly individuals with professions I'd never heard of before.

Otherworldly individuals with value needed to be obedient to our elven kind, not to humans. To achieve that, it was best to surround them before they acquired knowledge of this world. The sooner, the better.

And finally, it happened.

An otherworldly individual with the profession "Protagonist who became the world's strongest through cheat skill theft." It was Mimura.

Just like with Arthur and Mary, I was struck by shock when I saw her occupation. I struggled to understand her occupation, but the phrase "Cheating Skills" piqued my interest.

If this turned out to be the skill I suspected it was... I might be able to silence the Elf Council, which had been against my plans.

Since then, I had not only gathered information through the guild staff but also had my subordinates, who were skilled in covert activities, monitor her daily actions. Three days later, my subordinate reported something astonishing.

"In these three days, Mimura formed a party with two otherworldly individuals. And... she killed party members."
