Chapter 11: Otherworlders

“Hey wait, are you an otherworlder?”

“…………”

I remained silent because I needed enough information to assess the situation.

"You not saying anything means you're from another world.", the old man said decisively.

An elven man who was dressed in far higher classed clothes than those around him looked at me with disdainful eyes and said, "What are your elements of skill and your occupation? Answer quickly."

That condescending tone made me feel more cautious than angry.

"Why should I tell you?"

“You should be grateful. If they are useful we’ll let you join our party.”

No kidding. I can only see a life full of being used and exploited.

"No, thank you. Good-bye."

I said this and tried to walk past the elf, wanting to get away from this place. But the old man stepped in my way to block me. Then he turned his head to his party and said, “Hiroshi, what do you think, can we use this guy?”

"No, he's no good. He fights from a distance by throwing things.  It's fine for trash monsters, but we don't need it."

"Damn ......, he's useless after all. It's like that guy from yesterday, just a waste of time.”

The old men seemed to have lost interest in me, so they walked further into the city without looking back.

They’re finally gone.

That guy called Hiroshi must be an other worlder, judging by his name. And he's probably an appraiser.

I guess he didn't notice the unusualness of my equipment. But just in case, I'll disguise my equipment with the "spoofing" skill.

I was tired, so I decided to eat at the inn and go to bed.

I woke up in bed in the morning.  The quality of the futon was better than the room in Rosetta Village, and I was able to sleep soundly.

The first floor was a restaurant, and their food was not bad. Rather, it was the most delicious I had had since I came to this world.

Yesterday I got tangled up with a party of old men and elves, but I think I'll promote myself to E rank for now. I don't want to be made fun of again.

I entered the adventurer's guild and stood in front of the quest board.

When I was looking for a quest that seemed just right, I was called out from behind.
