Chapter 91: Leisure

"Too bored……"

A week has passed since we started moving. There was nothing much to talk about during that time. All we could do was ride around in the carriage, stay the night when we got to a town, ride around in the carriage again, and repeat. If a demon appeared, the guards would kill it before I could even see it. The guards seem to be very good at what they do.

"You're not trying to play with lightning again, are you?"

"I'm not going to do it again."

In this carriage was me, Sophie and Shana. There are five four-seater carriages for the ten of us. We were free to choose which carriage we wanted, so the three of us rode together. By the way, the lightning play refers to the incident the day before yesterday when I suddenly had too much free time and got off the carriage and started shooting lightning magic while walking and kept dodging it, and the Knight Commander, Wallace and the rest of the party rushed to stop me. When I think about it now, if I suddenly started doing something crazy like that, of course they would stop me. But at the time, I had too much free time on my hands and my mind was going a little crazy.

"Sophie, please."

"Not again... Thunderball!"

The only answer I could come up with to deal with this boredom was to ask Sophie to cast lightning magic and raise my lightning absorption skill level. In addition, Sophie sometimes teaches lightning magic to Shana. However, it doesn't work well because we’re in a carriage. So she has her casting lightning spells until her magic power runs out. Thanks to her, my lightning absorption skill level is now 3. This means that the absorption rate is now 70%. If the absorption rate continues to increase at this rate, when the skill level reaches 10, the absorption rate will be 150%.

The only complaint I have is that if I'm hit by a lightning spell while I'm at max magic power, the lightning absorption will activate, but I won't gain any magic power.  It's a waste, so I'm trying to do something about it, but I haven't been able to do anything so far.

"There's only one week left. Please be patient even if you have nothing to do until then."

"Okay..."

By the way, Shana, who doesn't talk at all, is asleep. I've been sleeping too, but if I do, I won't be able to sleep at night, and then I would just be bored at night. It's not a good idea to sneak out of the inn in the middle of the night to do anything, so I had to stay in the inn in a room by myself, and I had more free time than in the carriage. That's why I decided to stay awake in the day.

And now that we would be arriving at the Sacred Taglion tomorrow, I was finally starting to get a handle on the lightning absorption that was going to waste. The lightning absorption is wasted because it converts lightning into MP and then absorbs it. So I've been trying to figure out how to absorb lightning without converting it into MP, and I've finally gotten the hang of it. But even though we've reached the Sacred Taglion, it's still going to take two more days to get to the capital where the school battle will actually be held...

"Charging Lv.1 acquired."

"Yes!"

I managed to finish this task on the move. And since this is a skill, I think I can turn it on and off at will, which is a relief.

"Good for you."

"Thanks."

Shana gave me a compliment. I hadn't even told her what I'd gotten yet, so I guess she saw how happy I was.

"Do you want to experiment again?"

"Yes."

And by the time we got to the Sacred Taglion, we had experimented and learned a lot about charging. But what I found out was that it was practical but unsophisticated. When I heard the word "charge," I thought it would cause me to be covered in lightning like when I enchant Ziel, but at this point the only change in appearance was that my hair would stand on end.

However, if you touched me while I was charged, a kind of static electricity would be generated, and the person you touched would feel a slight pain, which was harassment. But the fact that it hurts a little even for Sophie and the others suggests that it might be quite powerful. I guess it's best not to touch anyone while I’m ‘charged’. And so far, I haven’t been able to release the charged electricity as lightning. However, it was possible to convert the charged electricity into MP and absorb it. Incidentally, it was also possible to convert MP into electricity and charge. This was a good thing because it meant that I didn't have to waste lightning when I absorbed it. I'm looking forward to seeing what happens to the charged electricity as my skill level increases.
