Chapter 314: An Important conversation

The Adventurers’ Guild, Dragon People’s Village Branch…

“Finally, we’re D-rank too ……It was quicker than I thought.”

 Aeris muttered with deep emotion.

“Wa-ha-ha! I’m the branch manager, so I’m not just saying this to you, but I think the “Black Golden Wings,” including the equipment that Tauro-dono  made, are of a higher level than a D rank, don’t you?”

Salaman, the branch chief of the Adventurers’ Guild of the Dragon people’s village, gave this assessment.

“Branch chief. The Adventurers’ Guild’s internal rules require us to be careful about promoting young people, so you don’t have to say anything unnecessary.”

Ryuko, the receptionist, cautions Salaman, the branch manager, about his comment.

“Is that so, Ryuko?”

Ragune, a childhood friend of Receptionist Ryuko, asked.

“I heard that when young, capable adventurers are promoted in a short period of time, it can cause a lot of problems,” she said. “The only adventurers in this branch are Saran and the Black Gold Wings, which is fine, but in the human adventurers’ guild, jealousy and envy can lead to trouble. And when you are young, you tend to do reckless things, so the death rate during quests is high. The higher you go up in the guild, the more dangerous the quests become. So, for a team with two underage adventurers, Tauro and Aerith, to be ranked D is unusual for a team of human adventurers.”

“I will be coming of age very soon.”

Aeris puffed out her chest, which had grown recently.

“Three months from now, right?”

 Tauro asked casually.

“.─ ─ Yes, just in time for me to tell you. I’m going back home in three months.”

““?””

“Back? I mean, you we’ve been going back together a lot.”

Tauro replies on behalf of everyone, not quite understanding what she is saying.

“I didn’t mean that, I meant that I’m quitting adventuring and going back home.”

“”What?””

All the members “ Black Golden wings” except Aeris froze.

“Wait a minute, Aeris! What’s going on all of a sudden? What do you mean you’re quitting the Adventurers?”

Even the normally calm Tauro was shaken by this.

“I’ve been thinking about it for the past three months now,……, and you know that when I come of age, I will have obligations as a daughter of a Marquis. And since Papa and May, May being my new stepmother,…… and I will also be the sister of the child they will have, I wanted to support Papa and May as they get closer to having a child, three months from now.”

“……. I guess it’s finally time for this to happen! I knew this was going to happen. It happened rather quickly.”

Ankh cowered his shoulders with a wry smile.

“Oh, but just because I’m out doesn’t mean that Ankh and Ragune have to do anything either, okay? You can help Tauro out as you always have.”

Aeris followed up on Ankh’s words.

“But are you sure, Aeris?  I thought you were the one with the strongest attachment to the “Black Golden Wings.””

 Ragune questioned Aeris’s feelings.

“Yes, you’re right. I’d be lying if I said I didn’t have feelings for it since I formed a team with Tauro and met the current members and we’ve worked hard together. …… But I’ve thought about it a lot and made my decision. ─ ─ But we are still talking about three months from now, so in the meantime, we need to find a new member ……, ah, that’s impossible in this adventurers’ guild. ─ ─ I think we can look for a new member in the guild in the royal capital, don’t you think?”

Aeris proceeded with her conversation quite calmly.

Tauro did not know how to answer, so he remained silent.

“The leader has joined the Count Graunewald family, too. Isn’t this just the perfect time? Now, here, we can talk about the future.”

Ankh also showed his willingness to discuss Aeris’s proposal.

“Yes, I might as well tell you now. ──I am indebted to Tauro, and I intend to follow him as long as he continues. After that, Ankh and I are talking about going as far as we can.”

Ragune also talked about going on until after they parted ways.

 Finally, Tauro is perplexed.

I didn’t think that everyone had already thought about what would happen after the breakup.

It’s true that such a day will come someday, but I thought that it wouldn’t be soon, as if it was someone else’s problem.

But then, starting with Aeris’s words, everyone’s mouths began to fill with surprising words one after another.

“I have to respect …… Aeris’s decision. I’m very, very sorry and I’m very surprised because it was so sudden and I haven’t been able to organize my thoughts yet. ……I will continue to be an adventurer while helping the dragon people conquer the dungeons. So I hope to continue adventuring with Ragune and Ankh, together, as fellow adventurers and friends.”

“Of course. I’ve only been an adventurer for a short time. I’ll continue to learn under your leadership. Ha ha ha!”

 Ankh promised to follow Tauro.

“I’m with you, Tauro. Of course, Aeris is my friend, so I’m going to continue to visit Marquis Van Dyne’s house, right?”

“Of course, you’re all welcome. Besides, I’m still worried about Tauro, so I need him to show up at our house. Fufufu…”

Aeris responded with an easygoing attitude, as if she had sorted out her feelings.

It seems that I am the only one who has not been able to organize my thoughts.

After the discussion, which ended with Aeris’s announcement that she would be leaving the group in three months, we all went to the dungeon together as usual.
