Chapter 75: An Incident in the Library
According to Chloe, the royal library contained books gathered not only from throughout the kingdom but also from foreign lands. Some had been produced by an unknown ancient civilisation. Because no one could read them or determine whether their contents were dangerous, they were kept in a restricted collection.
“Forbidden books have a certain appeal,” I murmured.
“What’s appealing about books you can’t read?” Chloe asked. “Secret passages are far more interesting.”
“Chloe, you haven’t used one of those passages to sneak out of the castle, have you?”
She refused to meet my eyes.
She had definitely done it. I needed to warn Her Majesty.
“Would you like to see where the restricted books are kept?”
“Are we allowed?”
“Probably.”
Chloe led us towards the rear of the library. I temporarily postponed my plans to report her.
A rope clearly marked the area as off-limits. Chloe stepped over it without hesitation. Was security here truly so poor that anyone could enter?
The moment we followed, a librarian hurried towards us.
“You mustn’t go in there!”
There must have been a detection magic tool. Otherwise, the librarian couldn’t have reacted so quickly. My criticism of the security had been premature.
“I’m merely showing my guests around,” Chloe said.
“Your Highness, this collection is restricted even for you.”
The librarian refused to yield despite Chloe’s status. She was commendably devoted to her duty.

“There’s one about potions,” I said. “That interests me.”
“Is there anything about magic tools?” Rosalia asked.

Why would an ancient book discuss machines? What kind of mechanisms did it describe?
“Machines?” Rosalia repeated.
“Perhaps they’re similar to magic tools.”
“Is there anything about summoning magic?” Chloe asked.
“Let me see… Here: Summoning Magic for Everyone—A Beginner’s Guide.”
There had been no summoning magic in the game. Did it create familiars? Creatures that fought for their summoner?
“Take it, Julius!”
“No. At most, I might read it here.”
The librarian stared at me.
Only then did I remember that these were supposedly indecipherable ancient texts. Could I read them because I had been reincarnated from another world?
“I believe I can read it, but perhaps I shouldn’t.”

The librarian escorted us out of the restricted section.
“Why must everyone be so difficult?” Chloe complained.
“Because causing trouble could get us banned from the library.”
“I would never allow that.”
While we argued near the children’s shelves, another voice interrupted.
“What’s all this noise?”
“Mother! Why are you here?”
Her Majesty the Queen had arrived.
Chloe, who had been hissing like an angry kitten only a moment before, became perfectly composed. So she wore a model-princess mask before her mother.
“I heard you were creating a disturbance,” Her Majesty said.
Then she smiled at me. It was a beautiful and terrifying smile. Chloe visibly shrank.
“I apologise, Julius. She’s so pleased to have friends visiting that she may have become overexcited. Chloe isn’t normally like this.”
“Mother!”
Chloe protested in embarrassment.
Perhaps maintaining royal composure every day was exhausting, and this mischief was how she released the strain. If being with us helped her relax, I didn’t mind.
“There’s no need to apologise, Your Majesty. I’m sorry we disturbed the library.”
“You’ve done nothing wrong. Chloe, however, mustn’t reveal too many of the castle’s secrets—such as the hidden passage beneath the king’s portrait.”
She delivered the last words quietly. Chloe shrank even further.
So Her Majesty already knew. Someone had clearly been watching over us. Perhaps she also knew that I had given Chloe the Panacea. Since she said nothing, she intended to preserve that secret.
We left the library and reached an empty salon. A servant appeared almost immediately with tea and sweets.
“The library was extraordinary,” I said. “I wish we had more time. It was disappointing that there were so few books about potions.”
“There were hardly any about magic tools either,” Rosalia said.
“Those crafts probably guard their knowledge closely. Isn’t that right, Chloe?”
Chloe remained silent, still devastated by her mother’s appearance. Perhaps the coming reprimand worried her. A little fear might be healthy.
It was nearly lunchtime, so we decided to rest.
“Your Highness,” a servant announced, “Lady Carolina has arrived.”
“Caro?”

I am genuinely surprised that you got this far before writing that.
Needless to say, had you paid attention to the genres (Slice of life!) you would have known this was going to be a sloooow story.
To answer your questions, the MC already commented on 2 females.
First, he’s going to be a commoner as the 3rd son.
Second, his aim is to be a potion maker and that’s in the works and a challenge with not knowing more on the history of why they’re they way they are now.
Third, him marrying in the royal family was also addressed and also repeats about my first part. If his brother is with the older sister, him being with the younger will make things complicated on the political side.
Fourth, he did react to his grandmother’s death. He actually reacted before he knew she died when he was making the elixir and trying to save the royal family if they were the true target.
Not many chapters have passed by and this being a change of pace, lets his mind recover. I’ve noticed you haven’t complained about her or even the rest of the family reacting to the grandmother’s death. They all have the same reaction but also same screentime for reaction.
