Chapter 664: A Letter Arrives for Sister-in-law Daniela

The remaining Legendary-, Holy Sword- and Mythical-class swords would be kept under strict security by the territorial knights. Naturally, I authorised them to use the weapons whenever necessary. Any situation requiring such swords would be an extreme emergency, and there would be no time to seek someone’s permission.

“For now, sheathing this sword should somehow… Yes, that should work.”

I placed it in its scabbard and checked carefully. No light appeared to leak through. As long as we did not draw it, everything should be fine. To be safe, I would store it later with my Subspace skill.

Perhaps my mana capacity had recently increased, because using Subspace no longer exhausted me so much. That was probably another benefit of the spirits’ blessings.

“Now no one can tell you possess a Divine Artifact.”

“Yes. This should prevent any immediate problems.”

While sheathing it, I had realised the Divine Artifact did not seem to display its sharpness unless I intended to cut something. Otherwise, placing it in a scabbard would have been impossible. It was truly worthy of the name Divine Artifact.

“We’ll stop producing improved Holy Droplets, but I still have to tell Father everything. I’m not looking forward to it, but confessing myself is better than keeping it secret and being discovered later.”

“I agree.”

“I shall accompany you. Come, let’s go.”

Encouraged by Lady Fabienne and Lionel, I headed to Father’s office. Naturally, Father released a tremendous sigh, but he did not scold me.

Since I had made the improved Holy Droplets to protect the territory, even Father could hardly become angry.

As expected, he ordered us to suspend their development. We were forbidden to reveal the recipe, and the swords we had just created would officially become ancient weapons inherited by House Heine.

That showed how wary Father was. I had caused him more stress again.

“Lord Julius, I believe you should behave quietly for a while.”

“Yes, I think so too. I’m sorry for causing you so much stress as well, Lionel.”

“Ha ha ha… Please don’t concern yourself.”

Despite his words, Lionel’s eyes were not smiling. That was unmistakably polite courtesy, and I must not mistake it for his true feelings.

For some time afterwards, I behaved quietly. I took Rosalia and Mira to the clover field and drank tea with the Green Spirit when the spirit visited.

Several days later, after our lessons had ended and I was considering spending the rest of the day relaxing, Sister-in-law Daniela came to see me.

That was unusual. She was normally at the Heine Trading Company at this hour.

“There you are. May I speak with you about something?”

“Of course. Nero, please bring us tea.”

“Certainly.”

Had something happened? Feeling slightly anxious, I waited for the tea. Lush greenery filled the view beyond the salon windows. Summer was still some time away, but the days seemed to be growing gradually warmer.

We had the tea and sweets while discussing harmless subjects. It would be rude to ask before Sister-in-law Daniela raised the matter herself.

After we had chatted pleasantly for a while, she spoke.

“Several letters arrived from the royal capital this morning.”

“Letters from the royal capital? I didn’t notice anything.”

“They were delivered directly to the Heine Trading Company, so naturally, you wouldn’t. There were several of them.”

“Several?”

Apparently, they had not come only from His Majesty. Since they were addressed to Sister-in-law Daniela, they presumably concerned her, and I doubted they had much to do with me.

“When I put the contents of those letters together, it seems they want you to visit the royal capital, Julius.”

“Ah. I see.”

I had sent them all sorts of potentially troublesome objects. Although they had been sent in Sister-in-law Daniela’s name, there was no mistaking the person behind them. It could not be helped. If His Majesty had summoned me, I had to go.

“Understood. Am I travelling alone?”

“Don’t worry. Naturally, I’ll accompany you. I was hoping to see my family in the royal capital anyway. They also wrote that they wanted to see how Mira was doing.”

“Then Mira will come too.”

What about Brother Alex? If he accompanied us, work at the Heine Trading Company might stall. It was not yet summer, so Father should not be extremely busy. He could manage the company temporarily, but…

Then there was Lady Fabienne. We did not know how long the trip would take, so perhaps bringing her would be unwise.

When I glanced at Lady Fabienne, she was frowning in thought.

She had only recently returned from the Raven Kingdom. Sending her on another long journey so soon would be unfair. It might also worsen Baron and Baroness Ambert’s opinion of me.

What should I do?
