Chapter 662: Beyond Holy Sword Class
The result seemed obvious, but we tested its cutting ability to be safe.
The straw dummy slid apart. Slid—just like vegetables beneath a perfectly sharpened kitchen knife. Would cutting vegetables with this sword be completely silent? It would probably slice through the chopping board too.
“Its sharpness is fine. Let’s confirm its durability as well.”
I had wondered whether the sword might have become brittle, but naturally, it had not. The enormous hammer rebounded with a high-pitched clang. The bear-like knight who had swung it stared between the sword and hammer with an expression that said, “Impossible.”
“Its durability also appears flawless. We should be able to use this in an emergency.”
“That’s a relief.”
No one knew whether the day would come when we needed a Holy Sword-class blade. I hoped it never did.
Steeling myself, I began preparing the next test. A strange mixture of anticipation and unease stirred within me. Apparently, when magic potions were involved, I simply could not restrain my curiosity.
“How many remain, Lord Julius?”
“Two.”
“Incidentally, what ingredient could possibly cause this?”
“Mira’s fur.”
“I see.”
Lionel appeared satisfied. If Mira’s fur was involved, then it could not be helped. At the same time, he must have realised that these improved Holy Droplets could not be produced easily.
I was probably the only person capable of obtaining something as extraordinary as a holy dragon’s fur.
I poured the potion over another steel sword. The blade became even closer to gold and seemed to glow faintly.
I see. Mythical class. Its mystical radiance was so powerful that I could easily believe the result.
“This is…”
Lady Fabienne’s mouth opened and closed wordlessly after seeing the Appraisal result. It must have been her first time encountering it. It was mine as well. In the game, Holy Sword-class equipment had been the strongest. This blade had surpassed it.
“Incredible, isn’t it? I’ve never seen this before. It seems this world still contains countless things we don’t know.”
“Even you encounter things you don’t know, Lord Julius?”
“Of course. In fact, I think the things I don’t know vastly outnumber those I do.”
I might admittedly possess some arrogance concerning magic potions, but I was overwhelmingly ignorant in every other field. No person knew everything. The only one who did was probably the Creator God who had made this world.
“Lord Julius, what was the result?”
Lionel asked quietly. Depending upon the answer, perhaps he intended not to announce it. But after coming this far, we could hardly keep it secret from everyone.
The knights might forgive us for concealing it, but their trust in me would waver. I wanted to avoid that.
“It became a Mythical-class sword.”
I deliberately smiled and spoke loudly enough for everyone to hear. I thought I heard several people inhale sharply.
“Mythical class…”
Lionel murmured. Perhaps the result did not feel real. I felt the same, so I asked him to cut something and shatter that illusion.
The training ground fell silent enough to hear a pin drop. Everyone followed Lionel’s every movement.
Without a sound, Lionel cut the straw dummy. The blade made no noise. Only the soft rustle of the severed half falling to the ground could be heard.
Even then, no cheers arose. The atmosphere felt like a dream.
“Magnificent, but it hardly seems like an object of this world.”
“I agree. Have we finally gone too far?”
“Yes. This is undeniably too far.”
Neither of us laughed. We were completely serious and genuinely believed this was dangerous. What should we do? Would leaving the blade with the order be unwise? But keeping it myself would also be a complete waste.
“What should we do with this sword?”
“Lord Julius… don’t worry. The territorial knights of House Heine shall take full responsibility for its safekeeping.”
Lionel accepted the duty firmly. The other knights’ expressions tightened in resolve. Somehow, the order’s unity seemed to have grown even stronger.
Their faces conveyed a determination to protect the Heine Margraviate if an emergency ever occurred.
That was right. I did not need to protect everything alone. We could prepare now, then work together to respond if anything happened.
“I’m counting on you, Lionel. Everyone, please lend us your strength.”
“Of course, Lord Julius.”
“You needn’t worry. We shall always lend you our strength.”
Voices rose from every direction. Then, as though time had resumed, their enthusiasm reached me. They gathered around the Mythical-class sword and praised its magnificence.
Now only one potion remained. What would it produce? We could choose not to test it, but—
“Lord Julius, my heart is pounding at the thought of what the final improved Holy Droplets will produce.”
Lady Fabienne still looked tense, but curiosity had won, and she was smiling.
That was right. We were magic pharmacists. We could not help wondering what effects and results the magic potions we made would produce.
