Chapter 111: Chime

When I returned to my room, I naturally let out a loud sigh. I lay down on my bed. If anyone saw me like this, I was sure they would be furious with me.

It seemed that I had managed to get through the night. From the looks of father, she would probably get permission to use the workshop to make magical tools. Now I can fulfill my promise to Rosalia.

I hear a thumping sound like a head-butt against the door. This dull sound is definitely Mira. I once got angry with her because she scratched the door with a screech, and since then it’s been like this.

I opened the door and Mira jumped in.

“What’s the matter, Mira?”

There was no sign of wetness on Mira, who was in my arms. It seemed that she had not yet taken a bath. If I remember correctly, mother said that they would take a bath first, but it seems that they didn’t go in together.

Mira raised her hands as if  to say banzai. Does Mira understand all of our words?　If so, she will be able to press a door chime.

“Mira, hand.”

“Kyu”

Mira put her foot on my palm. Yes. It seems that the language is definitely understood. After getting out of the bath, I immediately started to make the magical chime.

I left the work of drying Mira’s body to mother and Rosalia, who were waiting in front of the bath.

After I returned to my room, I made a very simple magical tool where “all you have to do is press a button and it makes a sound.” The button and the part that emits the sound are connected by wires. All that’s left to do was install it in the door.

“It’s not a good idea to make a hole in the wall. It’s a rather expensive-looking wooden door, but it’s cheaper to just replace it with a new one, right?”

While making excuses to myself, I made a small hole in the door, which was decorated with expensive-looking ornaments. A concerned servant came to me on the way, but after hearing my explanation, he seemed to be convinced. After all, it was not for my satisfaction, but for Mira’s sake.

After a while, the door chime were finished. Since Mira can fly, I mounted it a little above the doorknob. This way it would be easy to push and easy to find.

Just as I was finishing, Rosalia arrived with Mira.

“Just in time. Mira, can you push this for me?”

“Kyu?”

Cocking her head, Mira pressed the chime button as I instructed her to do. A “boing” sound came from the other side of the door. It is not a pretty sound, but it was impossible to make a melody in such a short time. But I could at least make a buzzing sound.

“Kyu! Kyu!”

Mira hit the chime repeatedly, as if she liked it. There was a boo-boo sound. Rosalia seemed to be interested in it, too, and pressed the chime to make it buzz.

“Brother, what is this?”

“Instead of Mira knocking on the door with her head, I thought I’d have her let me know with a sound. I’m sure I’m right, since we don’t want Mira’s head to get hurt.”

As I said this, Mira tackled me toward my stomach. Is she trying to tell me not to be stupid? I’m not sure. Next to her, Rosalia was looking at the chime with a serious face. What is it?

“Brother, when did you make this new magical tool?”

“Eh?　Just a while ago.”

Rosalia looks somewhat frustrated. Is she worried that she didn’t come up with this idea?　But hey. I have knowledge of a world more advanced than this one. “Brother, I want to put this magic tool  in my room too.”

“Alright. I’ll make you a blueprint so you can build it yourself. It’s not that hard.”

“I will!”

I quickly made a blueprint and handed it to Rosalia. Rosalia received it and went back to her room at once. Her ambition is amazing. I’m sure she’ll become a great Magic Tool Master. I’m sure mother will be angry with me for drawing her into that swamp. ……

But if you create a new magic Tool and it is accepted by everyone and becomes useful for everyone, it will move a tremendous amount of money. It should not be a bad deal for the Margrave Heine family. The magic potion I will make in the future will also be a great source of income. Nothing bad would come of it.

“Mira seems to like it.”

“Kyu!”

Mira was still buzzing, as if she was happy to have a magical tool she could use. I think I’ll improve the sound. Maybe Mira would be more pleased if I made it a ping-pong sound. And so I continued my research on a magical tool that could generate melodies.
