Just another Isekai Lover~
Chapter 1: Request
As usual, I fired up my favourite VR game, the one I play every single day.
What shall I make today? It looks like my stock of magic potions will run out soon, so I may as well mass-produce a batch.
Magic potions are consumables. No matter how many you make, they just keep selling.
That was what I was thinking about, but the start screen never appeared. Instead, a pure white screen was displayed, as if the game had frozen.
What on earth is going on? There shouldn’t have been any emergency maintenance announced.
At that moment, a woman appeared in front of me. She had a long white cloth wrapped around her body, like a goddess out of Greek mythology. Was there ever a character like this in the game?
“I have a request to ask of you today, and so I’ve taken the liberty of interfering with you.”
“A request? Interference… that’s hardly a reassuring way to put it.”
“I’m sorry. But there was no other way to do this. Please forgive me.”
With that, the woman in front of me lowered her head. Having a woman this beautiful bow to me made me feel a little guilty.
The reason I could stay this calm was probably because I’d sunk so deep into the VR rabbit hole. In some games I’d fought elaborate zombies indistinguishable from the real thing, and in others I’d battled jellyfish-like aliens. The boundary between reality and games is definitely disappearing.
“I don’t mind. Please raise your head. So, what business could you have with me that was worth interfering for?”
From the looks of it, the other party must be a god or something. If the management side of the game I’d just launched were interfering with me, the character in front of me would be displaying a red, ominous aura. Because that’s how the GM I encountered once before appeared.
“I’ve seen your gameplay records. It appears you’re fond of crafting classes. When it comes to the production of magic potions in particular, no other player can match you. Am I wrong?”
“That’s probably about right, I think.”
I didn’t know whether no other player could match me, but there was no question I was always at the top. Was that a problem somehow?
“So I have a favour to ask of you. Would you please come to the world I created, and help me develop its magic potions?”
“Huh?”
My real voice slipped out before I could stop it. Could this be an invitation to reincarnate in another world? When had VR technology developed that far? In a way, it was wonderful.
“I’m sorry, my explanation was insufficient. If you accept, I’ll reincarnate you into my world with your game knowledge and skills intact. Are you following me so far?”
“Um, my game knowledge and skills are actually useful?”
“Yes. Every item that can be made in that game can be reproduced in the world you’re about to go to.”
Hold on, I hadn’t replied yet and it was already settled that I’d be reincarnating. She seemed to have already noticed that my heart was wavering. As expected of a god.
“If I go to the world you created, what happens to me in this world? Does that mean I die?”
“No, you need not worry about that. As for how your existence will be handled: when you die in my world, you’ll return to your present state.”
“So you mean that when I die, everything goes back to how it was?”
“That’s correct. Your memories will return to normal as well. You won’t even remember having made contact with me like this.”
In that case, I supposed I didn’t mind taking it on. There didn’t seem to be any risk to me at all. If anything, it meant I could test my in-game abilities in another world and live two lifetimes’ worth. That might be interesting.
“If those are the conditions, then I accept.”
The god let out a sigh of relief. She must be really desperate. Was the situation truly that bad? I was starting to get a little worried.
“Thank you very much. I believe that through your efforts, this world will be saved from the clutches of evil.”
“Ah, hold on—!?”
The next moment, everything in front of my eyes turned white. It was so bright I couldn’t keep my eyes open.
Didn’t that god just drop a bombshell at the very end? Something about saving the world…
Suddenly, a floating sensation washed over my body. It was as if someone had lifted me up. I was being rocked up and down, too. This was probably the sensation of a baby being lifted and lowered…
She had said I’d be reincarnated, but sure enough—or perhaps against all expectation—it seemed I’d be starting out as an infant.
I couldn’t see properly, and I couldn’t understand a word of what was being said around me. Could there be anything more unsettling than this? To free myself from that unease, there was only one thing to do: let out my first cry.
For the time being, I gave a good “Waaah.” The cheers from those around me were noticeably louder than before.
Had I fulfilled a baby’s first duty now? After that… in order to grow up big and strong, I had to suck at mummy’s breast. It was terribly embarrassing, but I had to do it to survive.
And so I was reincarnated into another world, and made a fresh start.

A new story.
This is a very petty nitpick but I’m gonna say it anyway. So basically in a sense, mc is working for free? Since in the future after he died, he won’t remember anything about the other world, as if everything there never happened for him. What’s the point of him doing all that then if he eventually forget everything? It seems that the Goddess only care to pay for his present in exchange of his future memory of the other world and the deal itself. I think it’s not a fair trade / deal at all.
Yeah… I guess the only reward is experiencing reincarnation even if he forgets, he still lived two lives without sacrificing his current life.
