Just another Isekai Lover~

Chapter 160: The Blue-Skinned Woman

Thanks to Lime’s quick thinking, the blue-skinned woman had managed to cling to life.

I’d even used one of the [High Heal] magic orbs I’d bought just recently, so her body was completely healed.

Now all that was left was for her to wake up…
But, unexpectedly, she stayed unconscious for quite a while—an entire day, in fact.

I’d been about to try feeding her something soon, so when she finally stirred, I felt a wave of relief.

“…Nn… mmm… Huh? Where am I?”

“Good morning. Are you feeling alright?”

“…Mm. I’m fine. —Wait, you’re human!?”

The instant her eyes focused on my face, the blue-skinned woman sprang up from the bed.

Given her reaction to the word “human,” and her skin color, I figured she was most likely a humanoid monster—like Helena.

“Please, calm down. I have no intention of harming you.”

I spoke gently to her, as she braced herself against the wall, glaring with the tension of a cornered animal. Her hair even bristled slightly, like a wary dog.

“…Why would a human help me? You must have some reason for it.”

“I have no ulterior motives. My tamed monster found you collapsed and brought you here. Don’t you remember? A slime saved you.”

“…Ah. That slime…”

She seemed to recall Lime, and her guard dropped just a fraction. Hopefully enough that she’d listen now.

“So you remember. We helped you out of pure goodwill—no strings attached.”

“…Then, if I said I wanted to leave, you’d let me go?”

“Of course. But… are you sure you’re in any condition to travel?”

“I can manage.”

She said it with dignity—only for her stomach to betray her a second later with an adorable grumble.

Her body told the truth even if she wouldn’t.

From the state she’d been in, it was clear she’d been badly weakened, and she probably hadn’t eaten in days.

I couldn’t force her to stay, but at the very least, she’d recover better if she had a proper meal first.

“Your stomach just growled, didn’t it? How about you eat something before you go?”

“…It didn’t. That wasn’t me.”

She denied it flatly—only for her stomach to rumble again right afterward.
Her face remained composed, but under that blue skin, I could tell she was blushing furiously.

“I’ll make something easy to eat. You can leave afterward if you wish—I won’t stop you.”

“…Is it really alright? For a human to treat me kindly?”

“Of course. Many kinds of people live here. You’re hardly unusual.”

“…I… see. Then… maybe… I’ll have a little food.”

“Understood. Please lie down and rest while I prepare it.”

I gave her a reassuring smile, then hurried to the kitchen to make rice porridge.

We had salt, pickled plums, salmon… but my personal favorite was egg porridge.

A simple chicken broth and soy sauce base, but delicious enough that I could eat endless bowls. I even made it for myself when I wasn’t sick, just because I craved it sometimes.

With that in mind, I quickly finished cooking, tasted it—perfect—and brought it back to her.
I’d been half worried she might sneak out while I was gone, but she was still lying there obediently.

“Thank you for waiting. This is egg porridge. Please be careful—it’s hot.”

“…It smells good, but it’s… thick. This isn’t poison, is it?”

“Why would I go to the trouble of saving you just to poison you? I promise it’s delicious—try it and see.”

“I don’t like being tricked, but… gulp.”

She was still wary, but the aroma made her swallow involuntarily. Her stomach gave another noisy protest as she slowly picked up the spoon and brought a mouthful to her lips.

“—Wh-what is this!? It’s… too good!”

Her tentative movements vanished, and she began devouring it with gusto.

It had to be scalding hot, but she didn’t stop, tears streaming down her cheeks as she ate.

I still didn’t know what had happened to her, but from how frail she’d been when we found her, I could imagine it hadn’t been easy.

I kept quiet and simply let her finish.

“…sniff… That was the most delicious thing I’ve ever eaten. I’m sorry for doubting you—and… thank you for saving me.”

“Think nothing of it. We help each other in times of need. By the way, would you like seconds? I can make more if you’re up to it.”

“You’d give me seconds? I… I’d love more, but… it feels wrong to take so much of something so good…”

“No need to hold back. I’ll bring some right away.”

Eating well was the fastest path to recovery.

Thanks to the meal, she seemed to have dropped all her guard toward me.
I served her two more bowls of egg porridge, and when she was finally full, she gave me her first smile since we met.
