Chapter 57. Let’s make cup yakisoba – Part 2: No matter how many times I get betrayed

Based on checking the purchase history:

The cheapest was My Salt for 63 yen.

I actually bought it at that price before. I think it was at a nearby clothing store.

That place often has special sales on snacks, cup noodles, and stationery at incomprehensible prices…

I purchase My Salt using 1,000 yen repeat. Ah, yes, this one!

I really like this cup yakisoba. I like it so much I ate nothing but it for a while. Up until then, yakisoba was always about sauce flavor, but this one is salted.

I realized salt-flavored yakisoba could be so delicious. I love it. I love it so much.

I open the package and take out the seasoning, powder sauce, and liquid sauce.

When making cup yakisoba, I always put the seasoning under the noodles. That’s my rule.

In the past, even the toppings for the UFO brand were served separately. I learned this trick from a senior who loves the Unidentified Flying Object one, which prevents the cabbage from sticking to the lid after draining the water.

He said solemnly, “This is the most important thing I can teach you, Saki, so remember it well.”

Senior, I still remember it to this day.

I learned a lot of other things too, but I will never forget this. I remember it every time I make cup noodles.

I pour in the boiling water from the pot.

Close the lid, and place the liquid soup on top. Depending on the season, but if you don’t warm it, it’s hard to pour out.

The good thing about My Salt is that it takes only a minute to be made. Maybe because the noodles are thin, it’s quick. When I’m really hungry, it’s a huge help.

But I have to keep track of the time.

“Mimi, Kirara, I want you both to count to fifty!”

When I ask, they start together:

“One, two, three…”

“One, two, three…”

They sing in perfect harmony.

I’ve always thought it would be nice to have a watch, but I haven’t been able to buy one yet. It would be convenient to wear on my wrist, but it might be too noticeable.

I wonder if a fake pocket watch like the ones they used to sell near the cash registers at supermarkets wouldn’t stand out. I wanted one, but I can’t remember if I ended up buying it or not. I think it cost more than 1,000 yen.

I once bought a clock from the 100-yen shop — a big wall clock…

If I buy one, I would like to get what is known as a “cheap candy” watch. It’s a great watch that’s reasonably priced, has an incredibly long battery life, won’t break even if handled roughly, and doesn’t lose time very often. I think it’s perfect for someone working on a farm. The only problem is the belt wears out before the battery does.

“Forty-eight, forty-nine, fifty!”

“Forty-eight, forty-nine, fifty!”

“Thank you.”

Now, it’s time to drain the water.

Draining the water used to be a lot more prone to mistakes in the old days. Now, thanks to various companies’ ingenuity, it’s much safer and more reliable.

I’m sure there were many people who were shocked when the lid came flying off in the past.

And If you want to drain all the water thoroughly, you might try to shake it.

I once looked at noodles that had flown into the sink, sadness bare on my face.

Once the water is drained, all that’s left is to mix in the sauces and eat.

I don’t believe in the whole “it can be cut from anywhere on this side,” because I’ve been fooled too many times. it always betrays me at the most crucial times. Especially when I’m in a hurry for refills.

Although I don’t believe it, I am an honest person and so I find myself harboring a faint hope over and over again that maybe this time it will all work out.

It was a win and a loss this time. It’s important to have scissors ready …

I mix the liquid sauce thoroughly, then sprinkle the powder sauce evenly over everything.

If you pour it all at once, the flavor gets uneven, so I do it carefully. Mix it roughly.

And now, it’s done.

I bring out two small plates, divide the yakisoba, and give some to Mimi and Kirara.

It’s not that Mimi or Kirara need to eat what other people are eating, but sometimes I just want to feel like I’m eating with others, so I ask them to taste the food.

“Thank you for the food” — I put my hands together and start eating.

Seafood-flavored salt yakisoba. The noodles are thin and well coated with the sauce — so delicious.

Yes, this is the taste.

It has a strong seafood flavor. It’s salty, but that’s what makes it good. The salt flavor is smooth and rounded, somehow. The thin, curly noodles are chewy and tasty.

Salt-flavored yakisoba — so delicious!!

My salt is really delicious.

Maybe because I’ve gotten older or because it’s been reformulated, I used to feel that it didn’t taste as good as it used to, which made me sad. But now, eatting it again, it’s very delicious.

It makes me happy to be able to enjoy this yakisoba like I did when I was young. The scallop-like thing (probably kamaboko), the wood ear mushrooms, the cabbage — all are tasty. Even the carrots are sweet. Everything is delicious. I’m so happy.

“It’s delicious!”

Kirara also smiles happily.

“It’s delicious,” —

Thank you Mimi, everyone for your help.

“It’s delicious!”

It’s nice being able to eat something everyone enjoys.

Once in a while, I want to make a lot and share with everyone.

At first, I might mess up the heat control, but with a proper wood-fired stove, I wonder if I could even cook stir-fry dishes.

Could I do barbecue too!?

My dreams are expanding.

Anyway, I’m glad I managed to build the stove and that it works well.
